I haven't been looking into Android wallets until now because I bought a new phone. I'm not willing to go with Jaxx, Coinomi and these multi-coin wallets that are closed source. Any thoughts?

I was thinking about Mycelium but I'm not sure whether It's still a good option or not yet. I have heard about them going to implement SegWit and I don't know if that's done yet or not. I also know they used to have problems on the estimation of the fees etc.

I know about Samourai as well, and I don't like the UI to be honest and I also read somewhere that they made a bold move by basically remove the fiat price of BTC in the app which leaves the user clueless and could lead to mistakes.

It's done. They finally added Segwit.

They did. Their argument is that 1 BTC = 1 BTC. Honestly, I don't think that's such a big deal if you're looking for a good wallet with many functionalities. You can always look at the price with other apps.

how about Electrum? it does have an android version, i have not used it since i have never needed it but it is the same thing developed by same developers as the desktop client so you have the compatibility (like with seeds,...) there too.
you can download it from the website direction while having the option to verify the signature or get it from google play https://electrum.org/#download

I was thinking about Mycelium but I'm not sure whether It's still a good option or not yet.

If you visit Mycelium board, there are some problems reported periodically, but most users still have a positive opinion when it comes to this wallet. They have bug with 0 balance which some users report, and I do not know if this is completely solved.

If you need only bitcoin wallet for android, then pooya87 advice is probably best, it is well known and easy to handle wallet.

I feel like that the android version of electrum is a bit buggy and a bit dull interface.

IMO that issue was solved on its latest version they released this week, though not sure if it still happen to other users.

Why don't you try greenaddress or the rebrand of the wallet blockstream green wallet? It's a good choice too.

I have been in search of an android wallet myself and finally came to a conclusion to use the Mycellium wallet. Though implementation of SegWit was not an issue for me, the 0 balance bug worried me a little.

I was thinking about Mycelium but I'm not sure whether It's still a good option or not yet.

Yes, the 0 balance bug existed in wallets but after a research I found that the solution to it was to refresh the wallet. Just hitting the refresh button on the top right corner of wallet would show the updated balance in the wallet.

So I decided to use the Mycelium wallet and it's working perfectly fine even now.

Mycelium is a fairly solid wallet with a lot of options... you can create multiple wallets, is BIP39 compatible, can import single keys, now supports SegWit and is compatible with popular hardware wallets like Ledger and Trezor (I think they support KeepKey as well). It has a fairly decent UI and is generally fairly solid... although I still kind of dislike the transaction fee selection method with the dual sliders... I just want to type it in FFS! Undecided But that is really just personal preference... and the devs are still actively updating it.

Having said that, it has had a bit of a "checkered" past... the Mycelium colored coin ICO incident where they collected "millions" and apparently blew it all on a "developer meeting" in the Mediterranean... the in-app shilling of a "dodgy russian ICO" incident... the in-app ads incident... taking sooooo long to support SegWit and implementing BCH support first... the "0 balance bug" (really just a failed refresh, but understandably frightening for some).

It's been a rollercoaster... that's for sure!

Other than that... your options are somewhat limited... the Android version of Electrum is more of a "companion" wallet to be used alongside the Desktop version, rather than a "full" version of Electrum, as it is missing some key features (you can't import BIP39 seeds, doesn't support coin control, freezing addresses etc)

it kind of makes sense though. you don't really want those options on your phone because a bitcoin wallet on a portable device like a cell phone should only used for carrying "pocket money" for spending purposes not for things like importing your BIP39 seed in it.

About the fees, I haven't used Mycelium for a while, but I'm pretty sure they allow you to customize your fees starting with 1 sat.

I do have Mycelium installed, but I use it watch-only, didn't actually make transactions with it.
However, the fees are not written as numbers, or at least I didn't find such a setting. The setting I've found allows you select between Low-Prio, Economic, Normal and Priority.

edit: This happens to me because this is watch-only wallet. Better settings seem to be available in the Send screen.

Really? I remember seeing a custom fee slide that went through almost every fee possible (from 1 to ~400), but I don’t have an Android anymore to double chrck.

That’s how it looked like:

Isn’t this available when you’re in the “Sending” screen?

That's just the setting options for the fee range it will "default" to when you actually create a transaction (ie. the position of the "top" slider)... if you look on the the "send transaction" screen, you get a LOT more options! Wink

You can slide the top slider between the four "Low-Prio, Economic, Normal and Priority", and each of those has 6-8 fee options...

Unfortunately, it still seems to calculate the available options based on current fee rates... so you can end up with the "lowest" fee being higher than 1 sat/byte... I just took this screenshot now, and the lowest is 3 sats/byte Undecided

Wow. Unfortunately I don't see that screen (I have watch-only wallet).

Why can't you go with the Electrum or Greenaddresss android wallet instead of Mycellium? So called mentioned are also a good option to have on your phone. You can modify the default fees in this wallets as well.
What is the special option we can have in Mycellium than this wallets?

Electrum seems out of the question, to be honest just because of the interface. I think the remake of GreenBits from Blockstream looks like a good option when it comes to UI/UX. I couldn't find their source code though and even though Blockstream is very reputable, I don't think I would go with it. Can anyone give his review on that wallet? Right now, Mycelium seem to be the best solution since everyone mentioned that SegWit support is here and that bug has been fixed.

I personally use the Edge[1] wallet on my android device. Yes, it's a custodial wallet and they don't give you access to your private keys, but I chose it simply because I love the UI. I'm completely aware of the risks I'm taking with it, but I don't hold much BTC on it anyway($50 maximum) so I'll be fine whenever something bad happens.

Back in the day when I was only holding like $100 worth of BTC, I used the Copay[2] app. It worked fine. Though I'm not sure how good/bad it is right now.

i can't give you any reviews because i don't use it but i can give you the link to its source code: https://github.com/blockstream/green_android which can be found inside this pull request here: https://github.com/bitcoin-dot-org/bitcoin.org/pull/2901/files
i would never use something like this though because i never trust anything that is being released by a centralized company!

Haha okay. My personal review it is so far good to use it. In android, You can find 2FA, Multisig, SPV synchronization and exchange calc available on settings menu. Their default confirmation is in 6 blocks with average one hour. Then you can do sweep by scanning others easily. I may speaking options available there but for reviews I am searching about the best I know and sharing here its youtube link.

Open sourced doesn`t to 100% safety and doesn`t mean it must be more secure than a wallet that not open-sourced. Because open source means that more people can act as monitors to ur code, but also gives ppl chance to figure out the mistake in your code.

Okay, back to your require. My recommendation is the Bither wallet.
Bither is an open source wallet that supports Bitcoin SegWit address. Also, a wallet that recommends by Bitcoin.org
The Bither / Bitpie dev team has a very good reputation in China and their users never lost any coins in the past 5 years according to their announcement.

Open source doesn't guarantee to have less security flaws.. but it doesn't need any trust into the developer anymore.
Anyone is free to investigate the source code. Verify, don't trust.

I wouldn't say that an open source software gives an opportunity to a malicious person. Security by obscurity is - and always was - a bad idea.
If you have vulnerabilities in your code, they will be found. Doesn't matter whether open source or not.
But, with open source you may have some good guy find the vulnerability.. in a closed source project you are almost guaranteed that the vulnerability is being found by a malicious person.

Also, a wallet that recommends by Bitcoin.org

Honestly, this alone shouldn't be a reason to trust a wallet software.
It's not necessary in bither's case anyway, but worth to be mentioned.

@OP
I would recommend mycelium. I am using it quite often and have nothing to complain about.

We are developing bluewallet, if you want to give it a try.

I've already come across the wallet while searching for Lightning network apps. I will give it a try even though I'm more of dark themes fan.

Why not use Eclair mobile? It can act as a normal Bitcoin wallet and accept Lightning Network payments since the last update. It lacks some advanced features such as coin control and adjusting settings related to the change address. However, I didn't have any problems with fee estimation and on-chain Bitcoin transactions so far.

I am using edge. It is a very simple multicurrency mobile wallet. Until today, more them 6 months, everything is working fine. But I only send small values. And I do not use as storage. I think a wallet like edge could be easy used as a day to day wallet to walking on street.

Just gave it a try, like every multi crypto wallet, it's pretty basic when it comes to the settings.

They'll probably be using zigzag's API because they already have an exchange for that purpose. If you check Bluewallet's website, you'll see that the feature is coming soon:

Code:
Withdraw (coming soon):
Allows you get your funds back to a Bitcoin on-chain wallet. At the moment Bluewallet redirects you to zigzag.io while the feature is not ready.

it could be help me to exchange LN to HD wallet using zigzag. 15K satoshi fee for that and 300 satoshi minimum have to left on blue wallet, can't be withdraw maximum like electrum wallet ussually.
