Yeah, I've already read this interview too (thanks twitter, I can get the information really fast!).

I like the last part, where Ullo describes Bytecoin team's goals.

Quote
As for the long term, our ultimate goal is to help Bytecoin evolve into a very sophisticated financial system. We are already finalizing smart assets and aliases, which should be released later this year. The next huge step is going to be Bytecoin’s smart contracts that we are already working on.
We believe that cryptocurrency as a form of digital money is only a humble start for the Cryptonomy.

That's good news.

You  are on Bytecoin thread, asking if Bytecoin is any good. What were you expecting?
And why would you trust someone else's opinion when you're putting your own money in it? Would you trust whatever we say?

OK then...  go ahead, this is a very good coin with bright future. It is the first coin based on cryptonote technology and has fully anonymous tansactions.

Now go ahead and put some large buy walls on HitBTC.

.
.
.

Or just take some time to read and come to your own judgement. It is your money after all.

Why?

Clearly there are minds behind this tech. Much as XMR devs cry afoul it is also clear that without BCN there would be no XMR.

Current market cap is still low, regardless of distribution.
Every coin has terrible disro IMO (inc. Monero)

I am still researching…

much obliged

im still struggling to comprehend how a bunch of academics/cypherpunks pulls off a "scam" for a couple million bucks whilst providing virtually bullet-proof anon (min mixin is 6 btw). there has to be more to this story.

There's been some research by us (Community members) some time ago, maybe these links could come in handy as well.

What is Bytecoin devs' take on this (read the whole linked post):

In my opinion, this is an emergency fix because afaics the anonymity is broken as it is now, but I can't say that I've done any deep analysis on how likely the unmasking is on existing patterns in the Monero block chain.

Is Bytecoin affected by the same issue, and if it is, how serious/negligible it is?

Hi, illodin. Of course, if two of three signatures are deanonimized it is possible to deanonimize the third too.  But the solution is very easy:  just use larger mixin_count. BTW, the default value in Bytecoin wallet is 6.

If (and that's a big IF) different mining groups have mined BCN from the beginning and IF over 100+ individuals hold large amounts of BCN (and not <10) then maybe the origin story doesnt matter.

It is poetic that the anon nature of this beast prevents us from verifying this one way or the other.

Which part of "faked blockchain" are you incapable of understanding? Either your onion-peeling skills suck (along with your reading comprehension), or you're a big fat troll.

The BCN devs hold all of the money. Ring signatures are pretty useless if a single party controls all the outputs. BCN is neither anon nor decentralized for reasons I already commented on, yet you conveniently skipped over.

I also think you're a troll because you're posting all this here (XMR thread). BCN is off topic, so please be respectful take your "inquisitions" to a BCN-specific thread.

To show I'm not a troll and simply being duly diligent I will copy this post (and yours) to the BCN thread.

and so i have. what does BCN say to these "faked blockchain" claims?
no intention of stirring shit. just asking.

My only question, is why you decided to ask the question on the XMR thread first, rather than here?

That's fine, guess I missed that you asked here first.

As far as answers to your question - the people you thought you originally asked tend to rely on anyone that is not themselves to come up with their own answer to their own questions, rather than answer them directly, more often than not.

It's served them reasonably well.

Ask yourself this: Can you find any evidence at all that the coin existed prior to last year? I mean, if it was launched in July of 2012 then there would surely have been mention of it somewhere on the web, right? So find an archive.org link from that period mentioning cryptonote and you will have proof.

Can't do it?

Can you on the other hand provide any evidence that the chain was faked?

Checkmate!

Oh wait.. did you even read the thread at all? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=740112.0

The fact that you cannot find any reference prior to last year is pretty alarming evidence if you ask me. I won't even go into the false-dated white papers. If you're not a troll, you shouldn't be on these forums, because you will surely lose your money.

Absence of evidence despite sufficient incentives to search for such evidence, and diligent efforts to do so (including my own) is evidence of absence. It only takes one tiny little example to disprove the claim of fakery. If that can't be found despite diligent efforts, that is strong evidence in support of it being faked.

I agree with Johnny Mnemonic though, it is silly to keep playing this game.
