What is Axie Infinity?

Axie Infinity is a breeding and battling game with high quality animations, beautiful graphics and deep mechanisms.
In Axie Infinity you collect and train Axies, a mysterious type of genderless creatures that inhabits the lands of Lunacia.
Axies are non-fungible ERC-721 tokens stored on the Ethereum network which players can trade with each other.

Axies are separated in multiple classes

What is the gameplay like?

Other than breeding for rare parts and trading with other players, Axie Infinity has a great and competitive battle system.
The battles consists of two teams of three Axies each, fighting each other in a turn based manner.
Axies have 4 basic stats, HP, Speed, Skill and Morale.
Each Axie consists of 6 parts, Eyes, Ears, Mouth, Horns, Back and Tail. All 6 parts can be any of the 6 classes and the part's class offers different amounts of bonus stats.
The Mouth, Horns, Back and Tail parts also dictate the Axie's moveset. Before an Axie is sent to battle, it needs to have its move order set.


The formation the Axies are placed in matters!
The attacker will prioritise the opponent Axie that stands on the front.
The accuracy of ranged attacks will deteriorate the farthest the target is.
The power of melee attacks will increase the closer the attacker is to the target.


After three Axies have formed a team, they've been put in their positions and have been given the orders in which they'll execute their moves, it's time for the battle!

The outcome of the attacks can be a normal Hit or...

And regardless of the outcome of the attack, the defender might retaliate with
a Counter


The chances for any of these factors to occur are dependent on both attacker's and defender's (A) Axie's stats and (B) on the part's stats and/or its passive effects.
When breeding Axies suited for battle, one would have to consider what combinations of stats and moves is aiming to put into the child.
It's common to see archetypes like Damage Dealer, Tank and Support; however with enough imagination the possibilities are countless!


What else can I do with my Axies?

Lunacia is under attack! It?s up to you and your Axies to help the Princess fight off creatures called Chimera while rebuilding and strengthening the Kingdom.
You will soon be able to put your Axies in the land plots you control and fight Chimeras in PvE scenarios, gather resources, craft materials and build structures!
Lunacia is made of 90601 plots and 25% of the land can be claimed in the first land sale, available HERE (note: Most of the lands are sold out)

 


The awesome community of Axie Infinity has also created unofficial mini games like Axie Sushi (in which real, tradable rewards can be be earned) and Flappy Axie.

Unless I can somehow earn that money back? If I can make money that is even better. Is there a way to invest in this game? What methods of investing are there? There are many different ways people earn money through Axie Infinity, I'll try list them all but I may miss some,


1) Build strong teams and take part in both official tournaments and community tournaments, win against the competition and you'll earn cryptocurrencies.

2) Buy cheap Axies and try to breed stronger Axies from them, the Axie Infinity marketplace is one of the most active and you are very likely to find a buyer fast.
You can try breed rare looks (some Axies have a rare body types, like Sumo, Fuzzy and Yak among other), breed pure Axies (all parts being of the same class) or strong battlers (for example pure tanks, or high DPS, or healers, or backdoor DPS).

3) Buy expensive and limited Axies (called Mystics) which have unique looking parts, they are not stronger than other Axies but they have a distinct tag in their name and a different visual. For example this Mystic Axie (https://axieinfinity.com/axie/1733) was sold for 110 ETH and this (https://axieinfinity.com/axie/265) for 85.2 ETH.

4) Buy land... well, any land! You can buy from other players or from the official shop while there are some lands left.
- 4.A) You'll be able to place Axies in your lands and send them to PvE quests, earning tradable materials when successful. This feature is not yet live but you'll be able to trade those materials for crypto or craft with them.
- 4.B) If you don't want to use your land, you can rent it to other users who will pay you a fee in crypto. Even without renting your land, the land owners will be airdropped some ingame resources (and maybe even small amounts of LOOM? There are talks about it, we'll see)

5) There are some minigames created by community devs and streams and/or other community members give rewards to players.
