We all know about the corruption in India and how these corrupt officials could pose a serious threat if you even plan to help them wash their illegal earnings in any way for extra money and that is what happened in this case in Gujarat i guess as a corrupt police official seeked the help of a bitcoin trader and they might have invested when the price of bitcoin was soaring and they invested in 5 BTC and now they are demanding 11.5 BTC in return and was blackmailing him and hence he committed suicide, it is a really unfortunate event, but the serious issue is when people in power do these sort of activities, where will the justice come from.

I found a report online regarding this but it does not have many details and hopefully we will know about it in details in the coming days.

That's horrible. There must have been a contract between the cop and the trader since the trader was well aware of the fluctuations of the price.
However, it's ridiculous that a cop is blackmailing the trader. Now it will too affect the public in a negative thought about bitcoin.

I don't see corruption here but rather the police officers were trying to threaten the bitcoin trader who must have convinced them to invest in bitcoins. I don't know what benefit he got by doing that. He could have just filed a complaint against them rather than commit suicide and leave his family at risk.

Bitcoins are like stock market investments and people can't take it for granted. People take their lives as they can't take bear these losses and hence they shouldn't have even invested in a risky thing.

Just look at the bigger picture and you will understand whether it is a corrupted official or not, anyone could invest in bitcoin without anyone's help, all they need is to register an account, comply with a KYC and send money through banks and that is the simplest thing you can do to invest in bitcoin, but they approached a third party to invest, we all know that there is no licensed bitcoin broker like we see in stock investment, since they invested a huge amount, if you read the lines in between we could come to a conclusion they could have invested when the price of bitcoin was really high. Since the people who should upload the law was after him, he could have felt like a trap that he cannot escape.
