if they launch their FBcoin I don't think it will replace bitcoin just because of million users of facebook, not all of them are crypto users. Well let's see that in the future.
The main users of FBCoin will be companies and corporations, streamers and earners and payers using bitcoin to run their company ads, stream payouts, and the like. If they play this right it is a potential billion dollars market.
hat is right, and these people are enough to drive the market high to its peak, so those people thinking Facebook coin won’t really move because they were banning some ICOs ad then don’t really know how useful Facebook has been to the world out there, especially that of institution who has one product or services to enter to the public.

I think Facebook is still the largest social media network out there for now, with a user base of over 1 billion, imagine 20% of this one’s participate in crypto, this will be the major tool that will open the full eyes of communities worldwide into crypto, but unfortunately, I have just been reading this news here but I have not directly been able to verify them on their platform directly.

Yes, I agree to OP, even their name worth billions. But I do not think that FBcoin can surpass bitcoin in any manner. if you see it clearly then facebook or WhatsApp or Instagram or any of their famous company doesn't specifically rely on money related stuff. all they do is connect people and work with their data, They advertising system was their biggest source of earning and now when they are going to launch FBcoin most of their users are gonna be chatting or sharing stuff but not using the token very much. It will act like normal currency there.

Wow this is great! Now more and more profiles of people will go to facebook and facebook will be richer than ever. If you don't know, facebook is using your personal information and they sell it to the ads they bring. If you are playing online games, they will bring you ads of playing games. If you like to eat so much, they will put an ad for restaurants. Although Facebook is successful, why do they need to raise money?

Facebook has earlier shown their lack of support for crypto and a lot of enthusiasts are already vexed with the decision and their action. Actually people will still invest if they launch but will not be with the same amount of hype it would have received if it was earlier before their crypto ad ban. The only way they can gain relevance is by not trying to raise any fund but use their existing fund to distribute freely to their community and eventually launch in exchanges. But again I do not expect so huge from them
This is the more reason why you should even know that the project will work, I am sure they must have fully developed the project to a full extent, because whatever money they are raising is too small compared to what Facebook is worth.

The fund they are raising is probably to give investors right to the coin and not to develop the project, the last project they cancelled must have been for another reason that is not related to its non-acceptance by the community. This project I believe will be a one in a million project that we cannot wait to witness and have a part in.

I don't think this will be nearly as successful as people are making it out to be. I myself would never buy this garbage from Facebook. Zuckerberg should stay in his own lane on this one..
Facebook is popular, they can sure raise a big money and this coin is one of the high volume coin if traded in crypto exchanges.
I'm not really familiar on how this coin will be use as I myself is not gonna invest on it, I maybe trade but I'm sure they have big investors already for this coin and it will be sold out fast.

I'm speaking from an approach of fundamentals I suppose. I can't support something centralized especially after their actions of banning ads from other crypto projects. Just a hypocritical move by Facebook here which is already essentially vaporware. They make their money from selling your data and displaying ads.

I was surprised by Facebook, I have heard several times that Facebook has taken action against crypto currencies, such as the prohibition of advertising and so on, but at this time the news that Facebbok would make Facebook coins re-heard on the surface, as if they were playing with issues for personal gain.

They indeed took some actions against the cryptocurrency that execute prohibition for the advertisement of cryptocurrencies. Time can change people and now facebook is a pro cryptocurrency and they want to get into the wave. I will watch for some updates for this their own coin and i will invest my money there and hope for a huge profit.

You know what this is some sort of business. Facebook will first introduce cryptocurrency on its platform. And when they know that crypto has a future they are now pursuing a crypto dream of its own. What I really don't know is that why do they need to raise funds for facebook when their platform is working really fine and they are gathering more money.

I know that facebook has alot of community and users. But we cant be sure that they will adopt crypto space once facebook started their own blockchain. But for the sake of crypto improvement, I know Fbcoin will be on hype and this is something that can contributed in the increase of the market cap. Lets be clear that Mark is a known person and lots of influence. Adoption could be easy when they release it but again, still 50\50 chance about it. Lets just wait and see if they will really release.

Too late. They most likely missed the crypto train. Banning crypto ads and accounts damaged their reputation and it wasn't already in a good shape before it.

It will still create some hype however. It still has a name which is worth millions of dollars. Just a name...
With a brand worth millions of Facebook's dollars can attract many investors. But with the option of stablecoin release will make Facebook not get significant investments from potential investors if they don't bring in many promotional packages. Because stablecoin is always at a stable price, it is not profitable for investors to hold it and the cover is a drawback.

They find the crypto market too small for them, even the current market is not as much as Facebook's value. In addition, most ICO advertisements are fraudulent ICOs, in order to get investors' money, I think their decision to ban ICO advertising is accurate.

Whatever Facebook does with their Face coin it will have big impact on the market as they have a strong customer base (over 2 billion monthly active users).
They are entering the market a bit late but they have so much power that day can chose the time and it is better to enter ever then never.

Facebook is a well-known trademark that dominates social media so that it has many members throughout the world, will launch its own coins. Of course the assumption will sell well and have a high price.
This possibility is possible, but there is no guarantee that success will occur because the dominance of old, established coins is certainly an option for investors rather than speculating to have new coins.

i think some of usa think we are   crypto. But the real thing its that even with a lot of whales around there. The cap investeng in crypto is small comparing the one in fiat. SO if a trustfull site to the public eye invest in crypto technology it wll only help us. Only atracting new investors and they will be forced to share their money with the rest of the crypto world. Because crypto is not only 1 coin. even if his name is facecoin or something like that.

Yesterday I created a topic here about Facebook Coin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5129560.20

After that Nathaniel Popper, a NYTimes reporter that covers crypto, said Facebook is raising money for its crypto project. Seems like I may not be wrong in my article.
Here and here:
https://twitter.com/nathanielpopper/status/1115331482384388098
https://coingeek.com/facebook-seeks-1-billion-investment-from-vcs-for-its-crypto/

I can't see other reason for Facebook to be raising money if its not to back its own decentralized crypto. FB wouldn't need to raise to issue a stablecoin.
Everybody in the original topic said FBCoin couldn't replace bitcoin. While I agree that the ultimate store of value will remain BTC, I think FBCoin could easily surpass BTC in daily usage and, therefore, market cap.

I ran some numbers and I think its possible that FBCoin launches with around 300B USD market cap and reaches 1T in a few months. I'm comparing to HKD M0/M1 and HKMA's stability fund.
But I think FB should raise at least 10B to cover the initial stage of running a "sovereign" fund to stabilize the currency against extreme volatility, like I wrote in my article: https://medium.com/blockchain-positive/how-facebook-coin-can-help-billions-of-people-by-not-being-a-stablecoin-d780b6579e93

Brace yourselves, new times are coming.

Why does Facebook need to raise money to create a stable coin in their apps and webpage? Don't they have enough as it is?
They can easily launch a private chain or a payment system like wechat or alipay in their platform and FB users will eventually begin to use it as a currency within FB.

If they really want to decentralize it, run a reputable ICO - a year long ICO like how EOS did it would be ok.
