List of scam / fake bitcointalk sites

In reality, over more than ten years since the birthday of bitcoin, and bitcointalk.org forum, the forum has played important role in the history and growths of bitcoin, in particular, and of crypto world in general. Therefore, the forum has been one of the most desired targets of both attackers to steal forum database, as well as the pattern for scammers to build up their fake sites.
Of course, there are so many reasons that attackers and scammers have in their minds, in their plans to build up such fake/ scam sites.
I spent more than one year in the forum, and I have just known about those scam sites recent weeks. Such scam bitcointalk sites partially destroy the reputation of official bitcointalk forum and crypto, because people who just heard about crypto recently, then unfortunately visited on scam sites, and lost money, they might never come back to crypto again.

Consequently, ideas related to such scam sites popped up, and today, I decide to make the topic, in which I will try to collect as fully list of scam sites [(that steal the name, bitcointalk, as part of their domain names) as possible.

Reminder:
We have only one official bitcointalk.org forum, that has been head managed by theymos since 2012.

It's surprising how well-documented history can become totally forgotten... Satoshi created the forum on Nov 22, 2009, and was head administrator until almost 2011. Then Sirius was head administrator until 2012, which is when I took over.

Cobra also owns the bitcointalk.org domain name. I consider the forum to be basically owned by or at least dedicated to the Bitcoin community, though; I don't call anyone an owner of the forum.

Strangers, new comers tend to feel scared a bit when they lost money or identities on such scam sites. Later, when they hear about bitcointalk again, they will stay away from it. Consequently, I thought the list of scam / fake bitcointalk sites are necessary for future growth, and reputation of our offcial beloved bitcointalk forum.

However, if Bitcointalk upgraded it's software, supercharged it's attention towards effectively managing the community and put in effort into marketing itself, it might be able to regain it's position as the premier platform for crypto-related discussion for everyone.

It's the same situation as the bitcoin.com, wrong people took over and they advertise their fake "real bitcoin" projects. Same with the twitter account https://twitter.com/bitcoin

Another one to be added to your hosts files then.

On Windows, navigate to "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\", and open the hosts file in a text editor.
On Mac, navigate to "/private/etc/", and open the hosts file in a text editor.
On Linux, open terminal and write "sudo nano /etc/hosts"

Add the following two lines to the bottom of the hosts file:

Sometime when I search on google about any link of bitcointalk then I see a link bitcointalk..to And when I visit the site can see same like as main bitcointalk. Not only the log in page but also all info about bitcointalk.org's have there. There is no way to know that the site is phishing without seeing the domain name. After seeing the '.to' domain I start to search in this forum about that. Finally I found a post about 1 year ago where saw some discussion and make sure the site is phishing. Thanks for provide another phishing site list here so that people can make aware ownself.

Thanks, my friend. I remembered that I read somewhere a list of bunches phising, fake forums, but don't remember where it is. I searched today in the forum, but still not found it. I added some related topics to the OP (links below) for your interest to dig deeper, but I actually summarise basic things in the OP. It's not only bitcointalk.to that is almost the same as bitcointalk.org. fonstavka.com is also the clone of bitcointalk.org and it is up-to-date fake site where everything posted in this forum is also added in fonstavka.com in such a short time after you posted a reply in the bitcointalk.org forum. The best solution not to see or block the site is to follow the guide below.

Not sure that the list of so far phising or fake bitcointalk sites are enough or not, if not if you or someone else have known about other sites, please give me information. Your post reminds that we should only mention the forum as 'bitcointalk.org' forum wherever and whenever we have to mention about the forum to crypto newcomers.
If we are lazy and don't mention the full name like this, our kindness might unintentionally turn to bad endings. Because newcomers might search the forum by themselves and end with phising/ fake sites.

Most of the phishing sites are too obvious but if you don’t take care on that you will fall.
Anyway, the OP list are helpful for us so we cannot go on a fake site at all, luckily i was not able to go on any phishing site because I do save on my browser the real sites and bitcointalk.org was already on my favourite list of sites, so I suggest to do this one also to prevent from being hacked.

LOL, the bitcointalk.org site has been in my mind, I don't think that someday I will visit a site with bitcointalk prefix and suffix is .com, .com.shit., .org.shit. It's unrealistic, at least for me. Such guys who readily to visit such fake or phissing sites without making search via Google, or forum Search, or spending a couple of time to visit Meta, or tracing back to last posts/ last topics of theymos deserve to be scammed.
However, my topic aims at crypto newcomers, who are even unfamiliar with the forum, its structure, and fundamental topics.

I don’t think they are all necessarily scam sites. Some presumably want to actually be a place for discussion about bitcoin. Some also want to sell ads and will mirror this forum. Some may be giving people a way to read the forum without being subject to censorship such as the GFW in China, and similar censors in other countries.

It's is fine if they don't steal account passwords, or something like that for their shady purposes to steal account of their users on the bitcointalk.org forum.
Someone who easily fall into traps, and log in those sites with same information they log in here, same account name, same account passwords. Eventually, their account will get hacked. Of course, it is their responsibility to secure their accounts, but I think list of potential phising, scam, fake bitcointalk forum has its good role to help them.

There are a lot of attempts trying to get your account information here and if you fall on their trap then your account here can be hacked. Well, on the other hand some of this are also trying to experiment if maybe they can also create sites that is very similar to btt in which they are the ones managing it.


There is no good reason for me at all to create a new forum about bitcoin cause in the end if it is just too shady, not well managed and most especially if it threatens your security then most of the users will end up going back here

Sure, most of them originated from the forum, then created new one with shady intention.

It is quite obvious that the persons behind the specific sites or even those that are not yet listed are also just a member here.

This is why we should be careful and it is one of main reasons I started the topic. It is clearly that for senior members who joined the forum for too long, the topic maybe unnecessary for them, because they have known about that very well. However, it is very helpful for users who don't have too much experience with bitcoin, crypto, and bitcointalk.org forum. They tend to easily to be trapped with such phising sites/ forums.

Bitcointalk.org forum will hardly to be replaced by something else, it is unrealistic scenario. I even can not imagine that someday the forum will be replaced by others, that not come from theymos (like Epochtalk). Maybe it will only occur if bitcoin turn to dead some day, and another altcoin will replace the position of Bitcoin to be the King of crypto. It is unrealistic theory, too.

If you are new to blockchain technology and who only wanted to get some information then there is no reason for you be afraid of. Actually the target here are the users that has an established accounts.

Well, who knows? We can't actually tell if this forum is unreplaceable in the future. You are also wrong that bitcoin is not replaceable. Who still knows?
