Just looking for if I need a 'heads up' or not on a Gekkoscience R606 SHA256 Terminus Bitcoin Miner I got back in the day. It is NEW and Mint....damn, I got this back in 2019...so have some questions below. I 'just plain' don't have the time or space anymore to get this beast up and I am 'maybe' planning on putting this up for sale on eBay or on Bitcointalk selling area. Also, the 'fact' that the Corsair AX 1200 PSU's I had from like 2018 (used) went on eBay for around $400 bucks each, kinda put a crimp in my 'delusional' plans to ever get this up. This was 'if I remember correctly' a 'first-batch of this Gekkoscience R606 SHA256 Terminus Bitcoin Miner from 2019 looking back at the thread.

My question is this: not to be off-topic.....what do I have to tell the future buyer on how to upgrade and set this puppy up, after all this time? So do the 'instructions' on setup on such, still, in the box apply on getting up the Gekkoscience R606 through the same update www page? Or am I so far out of the loop that there are 'other' hurdles I need to jump through to get this unit up to date after all this time (almost 3 years) and need to contact the OP, for 'levering' this beast up in some manner before I sell it to somebody. If all is well, when I sell this, I can then tell whomever that the instructions link in the New Packaging is just fine to start out from and use.

Also, from the thread, I got this on Amazon...I think I paid $325? So could I get what I have into this beastie?

Anyway, let me know about the above if you don't mind, If I have to 'update' the beast in some 'dubious' manner I will borrow a PSU and do so myself, before moving it out the door. IF it is not a 'big deal' and instructions in the box are the same, then I can make it the buyer's problem.

Thanks.

Brad.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

The setup detailed in the thread is still good to use. I just set up 2 for my son a few months ago using those very instructions. You don't really need to do anything to it before you sell it.

when you sell it - let me know - I might buy it Smiley

Are there any more of these in stock anywhere through an authorized vendor?

I saw that and congrats to you for getting that price! I cannot believe people are willing to pay what it is going for.  mines only making about 38 cents a day, they are talking about 2 year to roi at the price.

or maybe they will use it as a lottery machine, the power consumption is sweet for doing that.

Hey guys.
Just received my miner today and got it up and running hashing sweet 1.05Th/s so I though I say hi to you here!
Do you try to overclock the miner at all or is it not worth it?

Cheers

these little guys are workhorses - these 2 have been running since 4/17 and are averaging 2.05 TH/s (together) they havent tapered off at all - in about 4 days though, I will shut them off and clean them out before firing them back up again.

i feel not many people would appreciate the "flipping" i did to get my hands on this +  3 newpacs & a gekkoscience USB hub so i'm posting about it in this thread because I am pretty stoked.

back in January, i wanted to get into mining at home w/ quiet hardware. I have absolutely no interest in mining with extremely loud, power hungry mining units, so I looked into the goldshell HNS1+. I picked one up for $300 which was paid for using .2 ETH that i got for like $20-$40. it was the first time i ever "took profits" and did something with my gains other than HODL em.

I looked on ebay and realized these were going for ridiculous amounts, so I sold mine for $900. Used the funds from that sale to fund this R606/Gekkoscience build. pretty much just traded ~110GH of hash power for 1.3TH and got this entire set up for less than $50 initial investment Grin

Major thanks to sidehack for making these. not enough quiet miners out there. definitely down to support any projects making smaller residential miners like this.

Running on 775Mhz at the moment. Only very small overclock. But was wondering what would be the maximum people can get from those.

Hello.
Thinking of replacing the fan before trying to overclock higher, what RPM you think the fan should have to be able to cool down the unit efficiently?

I'd already replaced the fan in the unit I sold you mate. Trust me, cooling is well and truly adequate Smiley

In my experience going over 750Mhz just consumes more power with minimal increases in hash rate.  Use a power meter and plot your curve on power consumption and hash rate for your device.

First off, I now have 6x Newpac's and I love them. Thanks sidehack and gekkoscience for the amazing product. Next, I'm now sold on your products and am trying to find an r606 for purchase. Anyone know where I can get one, or when a new batch is going to be released?

Thanks,

My understanding about the R606 supply is that there were only a few left that were purchased over the last number of weeks.  They have officially been discontinued but the orders have still not shipped.  I have one on order through bitcoinmerch and one coming from 419mining as a replacement.  At the time of purchase there was a 4-6 week wait period which has now come and gone.  Still waiting.

If you're extremely lucky you might be able to find one in the wild that someone is wanting to sell on e-bay or amazon but chances are pretty slim one will pop up.

Send a PM to sidehack and see if they still have one in the shop.  Ya never know.

Ya might be better served to pre-buy the next batch of the new Apollo BTC miner instead.  Have a look at it.  About the same cost but twice the mining power for a few more watts of juice.

except that's a preorder so pay now and wait a few months to get it. Hoping sidehack puts out a new btc one without a preorder and wait. I have 4 r606's running now and love em.

I agree. While I'm all for US made stuff, I have a hard time doing pre-orders for anything. My newpacs are running amazingly, so I trust what sidehack makes.

I will have to wait to see what the reviews are on the Apollo and see if I can pick one up from eBay or another website before I'm willing to pre-order.

Would love to hear from Sidehack about future product dreams.  Also curious about the decision to discontinue the R606 - they just seemed to be hitting their stride.  Perhaps supply issues is to blame.

Anyone else have any insight???

I was just thinking the same thing. I thought I saw in the Apollo BTC thread that sidehack mentioned a new project is in the works. If so, put me on the pre-order list.
