Altcoins is a good and promising investment, now the negative trend is over so the market continues to rise, and the latest news is that the price of bitcoin has reached $ 5600 and this has a big impact on altcoins.

Taking into account good projects,  not ordinary scams, altcoins can still bring nice profits during bull runs.

Since several weeks already many altcoins performed better than Bitcoin, and I think this can be a good sign for a new strong bull run.

They are not actually dead I think they are more like going through a transformation stage and basically the more activities they seem to have on their radar the more work they will do but lately am sure there have been some serious downward movement for Most hopefully more work will bring some back to start again

The sentiments for bitcoin is higher than the alts, but surely after this and when bitcoin already gained some good position, this market will grow once more as investors who got a lots of profits from bitcoin will divert their money to alts and begin to pumped the coins that they've think will be profitable to hold, there's projects inside the alt market that worth to wait while the market still recovering from the bearish situations.

Keep finding coins that you have some good look to buy in, hold and wait for the good timing to sell it out with benefits.

By new altcoins do you mean ICOs? Then yes, ICOs are definitely less prevalent and those that do come out often drop very soon after exchange listing.

It's not, when the bitcoin keeps increase and the opposite thing will happen because all of the demand will go for bitcoin. Look at the market and see hot it was going after bitcoin gets another pump again. The trend still follow bitcoin even major tokens too.

Judging on the altcoins market now, maybe but who knows, the future is good for crypto so it's not bitcoin only.
There are good coins for long term hold, BNB gives decent profit if you hold even during the last crypto bull run as it has a new ATH this month.
Not all but there are good altcoins which are made to succeed and they have an active team to work for that.
