some time ago I opened the Myetherwallet site to make a transaction, but I was directed to another tab in the browser that I used with a slightly different address but with the exact same appearance. https://myetherwallet.com-eth.network/index.php? exactly the same as the original website,https://www.myetherwallet.com/ I hope this can be our shared awareness, because not only were they new sites that were phishing, but the Vintage website from MEW also experienced the same incident. https://myetherwallet.com-eth.network/vintage/index.php?key=9090 and exactly the same as the original website. https://vintage.myetherwallet.com/#send-transaction always bookmark some important websites and ignore pop ups when you surf the internet. because it might be one of the phishing attempts.

Thank you for sharing this. Scammers are everywhere. I just created a thread people trying to scam money with the name of binance dex testnet launch and giveaway. There's a lot of phishing sites. Don't use any site from google search, better you bookmark the sites you used to use regularly.

Can you give more details? In particular what I would like to know is how and why were you redirected? Did you visit any insecure site? These redirectons should not happen unless your computer is infected with viruses or you visit some scam websites. Were you using the latest version of the browser and what browser you were using?

Generally when you search in google, you will get the official linm byt in some case, those scams sites however manage to rank in number 1 in google rank and people generally don't notice the url and get redirected to the scam sites.

OK, I understand now. That could explain it. The OP was not typing the Myetherwallet URL directly in the address bar. He was using Google to open the site, which is a very very bad practice. The scam sites do not need to rank in number 1 organically. They can buy Google ads to get on top of the search results. The moral of the story: never go to Myetherwallet via Google and always double check the URL!

ok I tell you more about my experience, at first I was opening the Etherscan site ( https://etherscan.io/) then when I entered my wallet address and I pressed the search button, I was directed to the phishing address. there seems to be an invisible pop up blocking the search button so that when I press the button I am directed to enter the phishing address they made. for information, I use the latest version of Google Chrome.

I haven't heard of a phishing site for ethereum wallets for a long time, but it seems they always pop up and try to snatch all the coins we have. Indeed, it is very difficult to distinguish between the original and not because it is very similar. But if you remain cautious and also always be vigilant if there is an acceptability.

There are warning posted in the real site. Like what should the address look like and the appearance of the original hasn't changed since I started joining there. P.S I don't know if the site developed or changed. Those phishing sites are not new. There are a lot of them where if you put your wallet information in order to log in to your account, it's already over.

I think it's really very worrying when many people make phishing sites that aim only to steal what others have. Honestly, I have found a number of sites like that, but I am always vigilant by researching and doing the correct entry method. And for beginners, I recommend that you keep cautious because phishing sites are almost identical to the original site.

It has been a problem of most beginners ever since but with the simplest solution for it, this will reduce the possibility of landing to a phishing site. Because you are aware of what's the exact URL address and you have bookmarked it.

People dont really have that time to read up and just posting replies which isnt really connected at all.It is indeed OP is on the right url of etherscan but clicking out that search bar do redirects him on a phishing site. This is why i dont really get paying attention when it comes to pop-out yet im not really expecting for etherscan to have it on the very first place.Always verify things out before logging in any wallet. This is really have connection with malware problem because on typical etherscan search it wont really give you such phishing attempts.

Scam site why you have accessed without checking the URL. There are plenty of site available with the similar of wallet and exchange sites.
Please be careful while you access towards it.
If there is any thread to find the scam site link on this forum means that will be more useful for the forum users to stay safe.

yes, I have experienced being a victim of a phishing website, I lost some ethereum assets, therefore I remind others as much as possible not to experience the events that I experienced in the past. instead I accidentally accessed the website, it looks like I have been exposed to malware that gave me a pop up when I clicked on another website and directed to the phishing website. and actually I can find out this is a phishing website because I checked the url address of the website. and after I compare it is proven like what I posted first.

Sometimes danger of stealing your account information comes from applications in your browser app store. Beware of unknown opened Wi-Fi networks, because there may be also phishing trap, especially if you are using smartphone or tablet..you can just not see whole adress of MEW. Just remember, to be always reading all the reviews about the app you want to install.

Many phishing sites copying the template of the wallets site and using the same kind of URL to scam the users of those wallets.
When you see the interface it will be exactly similar to the original site but you check the URL while you invest your time on accessing the wallet. Read the security measures you can see at the sign up and do it.

MEW wallet is completely safe to store the Ethereum and ERC20 tokens. If you are accessed any shit site then possibilities to loose the money is high and the image shown also seems you have accessed fake site. Please see your URL and confirm while you are accessing your wallet with Json or private key at anytime.

yeah, that one a good solution, because if you use MyCrypto it's just like you use the MEW and in mycrypto, it has an app that you download so there is no way that people can phising you but don't forget that you need to download the app from the official website

Phishers are talented when you search for keywords related to Myetherwallet, fake sites will appear first, and they have fooled you. Please pay attention to the website address and remember the exact address of MEW is https://www.myetherwallet.com/

Please change the subject line says Phishing site similar to MEW. If any newbie see this they might think that MEW is the phishing and that is what you are referring here. This is the best wallet in my experience on for having eth or tokens. Be careful while accessing your wallet and check the url and seeing the address whether right or wrong.

Never got to the phishing myetherwallet site. Whoever knows the correct address will never get caught, but newcomers in this case can also get caught. In principle, you can report this site to MEW official twitter page or email them. They think they will do everything to clean this site.

I once got a desktop notification of a Phishing Myetherwallet site, I had to carefully cross-check the site and discussed it was a scam. Already, I bookmarked the real site on my browser to avoid any slight mistake and I do well to always check even the book market site for a possible re-direction.

I was about to say this one, bookmark everything so that the likelihood of you getting to a phishing site is minimised. Been practicing this and so far I was able to get away from those sites, everyone should give it a try. Private key is dangerous as well, but I was say that I used it before again, never experience hacks but I'm still very careful though.

Well, online wallet is the worst wallet to use. It might be easy and simple to use, but very low security. I suggest you all to get at least desktop wallet to store you assets, if possible you can buy a hardware wallet for better security. Better safe than sorry.

they still do this when they can just guess the privatekeys like the kids who stole 45,000 ETH just by guessing privatekeys. phishing will leave more trail thru that hosting companies they use. these hackers seem to have more skills, than just guessing so they should just use their skills to earn not steal.

What a thing that often happens. Phishing sites are circulating everywhere and always looking for our guardian side. It's really the thing that makes MEW users think twice about using it. Keep your friends' hearts because evil always targets our blind spots.

I installed the EtherAddressLookup extension in my browser. It has a list of phishing sites and warns you if you hit it. This is not an advertisement, I just share information with you.
ok buddy, thank you I will try it. Previously I bookmarked MEW on my web browser (I use chrome) is this safe enough to avoid phishing webs. or do I need something again? Bookmark and always check it first before putting your private keys is very important securing your wallets online, a lots of hackers who's waiting to penetrate with your accounts so do a routine check before dealing with your online wallet, always take a closer look with the site and double check everything as OP already shared some information.

Firstly I check the Alexa rank of the site, even though I bookmark them. Most of the phising sites don't have good Alexa rank. If you compare real site with the phising site you can see the difference in Alexa rank.
Secondly using Metamask, it shows the warning message on the screen when we visit any scam or phishing sites.
Third, read the URL twice before entering into them.
Fourth, Always use Two devices one for work and one for the wallet.
MEW is mostly attacked Ether Wallet till now.

LOL you are asking to check the alexa rank before use it? Really funny I hope you don't do like that too. While you accessing the wallet just confirm the URL is correct or not that is enough else you bookmark the page and access the legacy wallet. Because of new UI many people confuse themselves whether it is correct or wrong wallet.

Yes Checking Alexa ranks helps me in 2018 to avoid fake MEW URL's If you don't understand what I want to say then you should read again. Mostly phishing site doesn't have good Alexa rank if you check in case of MEW, the Alexa rank for MEW is 12,877 and if you open the phising site you can see their Alexa rank. Much different

As far as I know there are more than two thousand such sites in Russia. I am more interested in what resources will advertise such phishing sites. Of course, in order to avoid any problems, always use only previously made bookmarks.

Search engines should redirect to official sites for queries like well known wallets, banks, etc...
Search Engines doesn't work like that. Search engines work bases of a website's ranks. inbound and outbound links. and other factors. which we call Search Engine Optimization. if a phishing website have stronger SEO than an original website then that phishing site will win in the search engine. that's how it works. search engines are made of bots and codes. they don't check which website is original and which one is phishing. Stronger Optimization you have stronger the chance of your website to come on top of search engines.

Make sure once you search to myetherwallet you can check it if the site is really legit because we know now a lot of pishing site are copying the name of the website and they change only some letters or add some so the user will not notice that website is fake or trying to hack your account. We need to be careful every we want to login our account to make sure our account is safe.

It's easy now to detect MyEtherWallet site phising or not First, if you mobile user use MyEtherWallet apk on playstore, it's easy to use Second, for pc user install MetaMask to protect you from phising site, it always close when you open phising site. Very helpful.

This has been the first time this year that I am hearing about the MEW phishing site, so I got the impression the scammers gave up on this particular type of phishing as it is the most obvious one and most people are already familiar with it, but I guess it is still effective enough to keep trying. Bookmarking the real MEW site is indeed an easy and crucial ordeal to avoid stepping on this phishing mine.

I think no one will refuse. After all, inexperienced investors always come to the market. I’m sure hundreds of people make this mistake every day. In a hurry or unknowingly. But this is not the end of phishing. You also need to be careful and do not use Google to search your exchange. Unfortunately there are enough fakes too.

The scammers know how to manage the whole manner without raising any questions on the victim's mind. MEW has changed its user interface and wallet access methods, scammers did the same thing too. Now scammers use Google advertising tools for promoting their phishing site and new users have gravitated to this magnet.

These scammers are buying ads to promote their phishing sites. They are going under google's radar.
This is one of the reasons that you never just copy and paste your private key into a web browser. Always connect with a safe option like a hardware wallet.

It can create an experience for all of us, now that there are many phishing websites, be careful to keep your data safe. My advice is to avoid phishing web pages, by bookmarking pages, don't often use searches, If you open https://www.myetherwallet.com/ use the metamask installed on your PC

After several years passed Myetherwallet phishing site is now reappearing and this is a form of serious crime that we need to be aware of together because it is very detrimental if we are trapped in it with this information so we need to increase our concentration when making transactions. Thank you for your D3m1r4wanti account owner, you're really good.

While using any of the wallets it is a must to be very careful, a small mistake will cause a big loss. What we have seen here is an example. I have come across such a phising site of coinbase. One day got an email stating confirm to withdraw funds. On clicking the link it took to a page which resembles same as coinbase. Somehow out of luck saw the url and got out of the page.

And a few moments ago one of our friends also hacked into his MEW account. Whether it's from phishing or whatever it is, but we have to be more careful in keeping our private key not to go to an inappropriate place because when we have lost it will be very difficult to return.

The original website posted some warnings about what the link above should look like. But anyways, this is a good reminder especially for the beginners out there. And also, make sure you don't post your private key somewhere else and if you have enough money, I would recommend you also invest on your funds's security.

Not all people are careful on what they do but most people in this world are careless enough not because they are dumb or whatsoever but because they are too busy . You know most of us are working and rushing . They may mislook the url and after the insert thier private keys boom, they will notice that they lost all their funds afterwards . This issue can be avoided if all are going to take time to read and check everything ( not just check but double check ) for more safety .

You still need a good antivirus and you must always update its database . Bookmarking the original site url is also the last but but not the least that everyone should do just to make sure that we are only accesing the correct website and not the phished ones .

like I did, I also installed adblock on the browser that I use (Google Chrome) because scammers do everything to get money fraudulently. Bookmarks are also one of the best ways to prevent scammers who are getting smarter at making crime traps. Wow, thank you man,
many people use many ways to get money, but this one people consider same as really bad people
But we are sure there are still many who are good, as this friend wants to tell anyone to be vigilant because many who abuse their intelligence only to seek illegal profits. this is often a lot of people who are deceived because they are not careful, actually small things can be done so that it does not happen, make it a habit to use bookmarks if you often go to websites that you often open, without the need to repeat writing on google which might lead to fraudulent websites.

Be careful
This is one of the most popular ways of social engineering.
It is absolutely easy to make a website absolutely similar in design to text content and this is one of the most popular ways of phishing.

The main thing is not to fall for such phishing sites and constantly see what is written in your browser line. Steal wallet and all.

Every users of myetherewallet shoul pay attention when signing in on thier wallets they should always check first the url if its correct or not, some users are not aware on this cause as long as they recognize the same display and details like the original one, they will continue without knowing that their tokens are in danger.

Many people copying the template of MyEtherwallet and use it scam the users. Many people got trapped in this problem. I am not sure who is going to give the solution for it.
I believe every users needs to secure themselves with the security options and keep access the wallet checking the URL.

That’s why it was advisable that everything in internet that needs our account to be logged in must be Bookmarked because hackers are great in their skills so if we don’t make precautionary measures for sure we will victimized.this must served as lesson for everyone who’s reading here to always BOOKMARKED important site that we usually used

its better a use a linux usb drive pc everytime there is a need to connect to wallets or exchange.
No need to install the OS, just let it run on the USB drive, everytime it starts its a like a new PC.
much more safer works well.

some time ago I opened the Myetherwallet site to make a transaction, but I was directed to another tab in the browser that I used with a slightly different address but with the exact same appearance. https://myetherwallet.com-eth.network/index.php? exactly the same as the original website,https://www.myetherwallet.com/ I hope this can be our shared awareness, because not only were they new sites that were phishing, but the Vintage website from MEW also experienced the same incident. https://myetherwallet.com-eth.network/vintage/index.php?key=9090 and exactly the same as the original website. https://vintage.myetherwallet.com/#send-transaction always bookmark some important websites and ignore pop ups when you surf the internet. because it might be one of the phishing attempts. Thanks for sharing this excellent info. We have similar hack in 2018 where ethereum worth 150000 were stolen by hackers. Just by following few simple guidelines you can avoid huge losses.

Its a sad world that many people have to resort to theft in order to survive. These phishing sites will never cease to exist until there is more equality in the world.

People lose their cryptocurrency only by stupidity. Neglect of safety practices leads to the loss of its cryptocurrency. I read a lot of stories that people lost their cryptocurrency through their own fault, no one even hacked them.

Most of them are trapped by their ignorance, or because of their heartlessness. therefore the OP may aim to provide them with experience and knowledge to be more careful and not be trapped because of ignorance.

No,it doesnt work that way.Your email might have been exposed where you might able to register or input it into other services/websites. When theres a leakage or those email list had been solved out and been bought then scammers or hackers do mass sending with those phishing emails just hoping for someone to be hooked up.

i think there is another way to easily knowing the phishing website by installing metamask. With metamask every phishing website that you visit it will warn you like below

I was remember , few months ago.. So many people who got scammed by Myetherwallet scam or phising sites. They didn't careful to type myetherwallet site (maybe).. And so much Ethereum and tokens/coins on hacker wallet. After they got that , they just move it directly to exchanges. And then.. Myetherwallet official team tweeted on their account to change DNS , Server , Appearance or something I dont know which hopefully all can easily access "the real one" myetherwallet site. Maybe next time.. you must bookmark "the real one" myetherwallet site because until now , phising sites still exist. And thanks for this thread explain about myetherwallet phising sites

MyEtherWallet wallet is mostly being attacked by many users with creating fake added link with it. When there is huge amount in any wallet and that user incorrectly accessed the fake site means they may face heavy loss. Only thing users has to realize the problems and be careful while accessing any sites.
