In 2017 I bought 100 NEO at $20, and road it all the way up to $200.  I was obsessed with the project and thought De Hongfei was the next VItalik.  Well, than the crash came and saw my 2000% gains turn...gasp...to a loss.

So I sold my NEO, and moved on.  Having lost faith in the project.  It felt like another ME TOO Ethereum project, and I saw the likes to EOS, Stellar, Cardano, etc. pass it on by.

Recently, I bought 1000 Ontology.  I felt like that's where the new energy was with regard to the NEO community, and I still have those locked away on my ledger.  But now I'm seeing NEO 3.0 news upcoming, and with NEO at $9 I can easily get back my 100 NEO and have a stake in both NEO and ONTOLOGY.

Anyone have any opinion? I'm conflicted on the future of these projects.

This is why I think short-term trading is more appropriate. Even, if you sold at the right time, you would have doubled your money 10x. I do not know why you did not evaluate earnings, but everything is better in its time.

I bought a lot of neo coin during their ICO days because I saw the hype on it then and I believed it was a good project that will change a lot of things in the crypto space, and neo was one of the coin I have never regretted making purchase of because at a point we saw the price of the coin getting to $200, I dumped my coin when it was $100 and I bought back into the market when the price dipped again, and am not selling off yet till the bull run.

NEO has been a good investment right from time because is one of my investment that have given more profit but it not advisable to invest in NEO now because the price is still high.

I personally hold both, i bought the most of my neo also arround 20$, claiming gas makes still fun Wink
i have some ontology since the airdrop and i'm going to buy more within the next weeks. Both projects have a great community and an active development. So, i have faith in both projects.

What you lack is patience ,you make wrong decision when you sold your 100 pieces of neo and moved on ,neo is a good coin to hold and ontology ain't bad either I'd suggest you should hold both

I am not smart enough to give you a proper advice regarding NEO vs Ontology.
But:
In 2017 I bought 100 NEO at $20, and road it all the way up to $200.  I was obsessed with the project and thought De Hongfei was the next VItalik.  Well, than the crash came and saw my 2000% gains turn...gasp...to a loss.
I have just one thing to say: I have made the same mistakes in the past. That is, not taking some profit at some point. Say at 5x increase in price, sell 50% of your investment, and let the other 50% go as high as they can. No matter how good the fundamentals are, no matter how great the project is, one should implement this or a similar strategy to safeguard against sudden price drops.

Well, you can buy and hold both. This what I've doing with my portfolio, I always diversifies my assets, I hold 3-5 coins in my wallet and sometimes when I like some token startups and invest again and hold and wait for its development to take place.

I'm not sure about Ontology because I'm not too much familiar with it. I guess I have seen it somewhere for one or two times. But NEO can be a great investment for now abd you can expect a good bump too. It would be better you hold only NEO than holding Ontology or whatever it is.

Neither, for me both have created product but their products are not the same like what we have expected it before. Lack of demand, not create a revenue to the company, and then the hype gets decreased anytime.
Especially for NEO. A lot of platforms that used NEO tried to migrate into the new blockchain ecosystem. NEO 3.0 will not have a lot of different thing.
