It is so disheartening to know that those that were nobody when the forum was created are now the ones that have turned themselves to the lord of the forum. I understand that there are noises lately. Too many people are joining with the wrong intention in mind however I do see a lot of knowledge seekers who are seeking for answers too in the forum and good forum members are helping them.

What I saw is the forum has been full of kind-hearted users, whom are readily to help each other.
They help each other in so many ways. From answer to questions, guides (to avoid scam, to secure account, to sign Bitcoin message, to avoid phising sites, and more things), to clean up scammers, and scam projects. They also help deserved users to rank up.
I don't understand why you start your topic, but honestly all of my opinion written above come from my participation in the forum more than one year.
I have come so close to the next rank, and I would have not come to current position without help from other users. Of course, I have to contribute to the forum first, then they will help me in return.
I would have reached Full Member rank or even Senior Member rank if merit system has not launched, bit for now I don't get problems with merit system, that does only delay my journey a little bit with its challenges.

Forum is Okay, If you go look at the other boards. Help and Beginners, Bitcoin discussion, Mining, Trading discussion etc. If you focus on Meta and reputation board and then go on to make attacks especially for a newbie account then most members will obviously think it's an alt account of someone who has been here before but for some reason they can't post through the original account(Probably lost credibility through trolling or has been negative trusted for some bad act).

Man, how I hate these ongoing accusations and counter accusations on meta and reputation boards, you might actually think it's impossible to make friends here until you just decide to focus on other boards or just avoid this whole drama.

I mean it's just a forum, You don't need to be on DT or a legendary to enjoy it and make valuable discussions. If for some reason you find the forum too bad to your taste, you can just decide to chill for a while. It isn't an obligation to always log in.
Creating different accounts and attacking older members won't help.

It's like people suspecting that you have a psychiatric problem, and then they strap you up, the more you struggle and make noise, the more they believe that you actually lost your mind, but if you keep calm and show that you are OK, they could actually feel sad or kind and unstrap you.
Just let your deeds do the work. People will easily see your good side.

As far as I can remember, I haven't encountered any higher ranks acting as if they are the lord of this forum. Sorry if you have experienced something that made you feel that way. But for the time that I have been a part of this community,  people here, though I don't know them personally, have been so generous in sharing their ideas, giving advice to those who need it, and helping the forum improve as time goes by. That, for me, is levelling with others; keeping their feet on the ground despite what they have already achieved.

Maybe, some higher ranks create some new policies but that's because that's what they think would make the forum more conducive for gaining more knowledge in crypto and the likes, and also for the security of everyone in this community, to avoid spammers, and shitposters, and other undecent acts.

Just take it easy. Don't let things get on your nerves easily.

The forum was made by satoshi but a lot of satoshi kids were good here, to keep the bitcointalk forum from spamer attacks.
No one wants to be an Admin and moderator like Satoshi, enough to help him in this forum that is more than everything.

Maybe outside the forum is better for you, if you judge the forum many rulers.

Thule, what's wrong with your keyboard/pad that you can't properly space your punctuation? Sometimes you put an unnecessary space before the punctuation, sometimes you don't put a space after it, it's truly bizarre.

Suchmoon bought in 2018 an account and noone (buyer,seller,sold account) got a red tagg even he tried to sell that account without informing anyone about it.

reporting plagiarism back from 2014 and showing the plagiarism lines which were posted 5 years ago shows clearly the intention of suchmoon as i doubt any decent DT members
like LoyceV,Bones,Ognasty,Asche etc would ever report this kind of staff which was back in 2014.

What if satoshi actually return after years dissapeared with his fortune from bitcoin mined in the genesis block? What you will react with Satoshi when he or she or they come back? Please stop judging everyone like a lord in the forum. I don't get issues with the forum, so far, and might not get issues with it in the future. You are right that we all have to start from zero (Brandnew), then fastly move up to Newbie before spending more time to become Hero or Legendary with old ranking system without merit system. I started from zero, and now I am a Full Member, proud of that, and honestly I have not had issues with forum.

We have contributed a lot for forum so we will not accept if some disturb this forum and forum members. You should contribute yourself instead of attack reputed members here. The forum is a big one, so it can not be managed by a single person, even with Satoshi. So, it is why we have seen in so many periods of the forum, we have head administrator, administrators, global moderators, moderators, and DT members. Changes always happen in the forum over time, but the most important thing is the forum has maintained itself as a community-led forum, or somehow nearly to a decentralized forum, not exactly, but something like this. Recent weeks, theymos announced that he planned to adjust the merit system a little bit to make the forum become more decentralized.

This thought occurred to me recently:

If you wanted to implement Merit in a decentralized forum (ie. one in the vein of Freenet's Frost or FMS), you could do it in this way:
 - Everyone can, from their own perspective, give unlimited merit to posts, and these merit transactions are put into files which each user publishes via the decentralized system. (Like a merit.txt.xz which every user publishes.) Unlike on bitcointalk.org, you can also give people merit without an associated post.
 - For everyone who has merit, you download their merit-transactions-list, but scale down/up all of the numbers so that the total merit that they send is equal to the actual sMerit that they own. It might or might not be useful to do this via some sliding time frame scheme so that merit transaction amounts aren't just continually diminished over time as they increase in quantity.
 - Apply the above step recursively, creating a web-of-trust-style merit network

Then every user has a subjective merit score for each post (sort of like the bitcointalk.org trust system, which was inspired by FMS). And if you wish, you can assign people to be merit sources from your perspective by sending them large amounts of merit directly; these might or might not appear in the merit-transactions-list which you publish.

I'm not planning on doing that here. People have enough trouble figuring out the sort-of-similarly-designed Trust system. That was just an idea that I wanted to share in case anyone was making a decentralized forum and wanted to have a merit-like system.
