Trading is extremely hazardous and is not as simple as you may believe. It involves bitcoin price speculation, and I believe that no one can accurately estimate the price of bitcoin. So anyone who believes that trading bitcoin is simple, with the mindset of buying when the price is low and selling when it is high, is mistaken.
So definitely There is no such thing as experienced traders because trading is similar to gambling, and in gambling, experience does not ensure victory; the same is true in trading, which is why trading bitcoin is the same as gambling with bitcoin.
In terms of risk trading is on par with gambling, but there are countless traders in the market who are directly involved in this ongoing liquidity of market management and their dynamic actions keep the market alive. You can trade but it should be on a financial compatibility basis and after gaining experience. There is risk in trading but with proper money management you can get rid of the risk. If you think about short term trading with Bitcoin, it is a wrong step because this digital asset increases the risk of your capital in the short term. Consider Bitcoin as part of an ongoing process for long term investment and build a decent holding by accumulating regularly for 4-10 years. This is the best investment strategy. It is not wrong to liquidate small amounts of funds after reaching the specific period you have taken even if you have set aside for trading. Although this is a Bitcoin holding thread, it may not be right for me to make such comments, but I have explained the matter in the context of your words.

Before buying Bitcoin, everyone should at least understand the basics. In particular, how to deal with market volatility, the importance of self-custody to keep your coins safe, and why you should not invest money that you risk losing. Without this minimum foundation, people panic and make bad decisions when the market drops slightly.
What is the business of a new investor who has the mindset to invest for long term with how to deal with market volatility when he's not a trader or only planning to buy during the dip. He is only to be buying and increasing his stash with DCA regardless the price of bitcoin at that moment. The fact is that you cannot know the next price movement of bitcoin because the market is unpredictable. You can learn self custody wallet as you have started your bitcoin investment and not compulsory to learn it before starting because wallet is technical. So, the best strategy is to start investing small amounts of your disposable income according to your ability and continue the learning process at the same time. You don't need to know any rocket science to get started, but it is important to have 'enough' knowledge to make the right decisions during market ups and downs and to be confident in your investments.
There's nothing like enough knowledge because you don't know for how long you will be able to acquire that enough knowledge you need about bitcoin. The best thing is to start buying bitcoin the moment your discretionary income is available, common sense can guide you through in the beginning on how to figure out your discretionary income and use the right amount from your discretionary income to buy bitcoin with DCA while, you learn whatever, you love to know simultaneously as you are building your bitcoin investment. Don't delay your bitcoin investment because of unnecessary criterion which you have given yourself before getting started when you already have your discretionary income on ground because it will make you lose a lot of opportunities in the market that you should have used to grow your bitcoin investment than when waiting.

So your explanation only happen when someone want to venture into trading and thinks it is all abput buying and selling, after all we all know trading take time before mastering it and start getting into market as a beginner who want to be successful. As a newbie in this forum i will indulge you stay away from anything trading before you regret been here but rather focus more on bitcoin investment discussion so you do not get distracted and i want to believe the reason you are in this thread is to learn how to become an investor by getting knowledge that will be shared here. When you said trading is hard and regardless it is key to success, means you have already started to have the mindset that trading will make you rich in a short period which of course does not work that way and it is not as easy as you think.

I don't have the mood to discuss trading, I get very annoyed when I hear the word trading. However, the goal of ordinary people should not be to try to earn more Bitcoins by trading, but rather to collect Bitcoins from discretionary income through regular DCA method. Because trying to earn more Bitcoins through trading always reduces the amount of your Bitcoins. And when you discuss trading in this forum, newbies may be tempted to trade. Therefore, in the case of Bitcoin investment, it is safe and realistic to invest in regular DCA method from the money that is left after deducting your necessary expenses from discretionary income. How do you even gain more bitcoin from trading bitcoin, that is absolutely ridiculous and impossible, especially when you’re buying and investing in Bitcoin and still selling them, I wouldn’t call that investing rather its just a form of trading, making good plans to invest in bitcoin with the mindset of buying and holding for a very long time, and that is quite durable and sustainable in the form that we are investing in bitcoin. Likewise I don’t like talking about trading, and you already know that here is not a place for trading, instead is a place for learning more about bitcoin, how to approach the bitcoin market.

Obviously, more Bitcoin can be earned by trading Bitcoin, but why do many people choose this method? In fact, according to my knowledge, the main way to earn more Bitcoin by trading Bitcoin is to use various trading strategies and exchange opportunities correctly. Also, proper market analysis and systematic trading will make it possible to increase the amount of Bitcoin. However, one thing to know is that all these methods are very difficult for a new investor, but if we consider this, then Bitcoin investment will be considered a very easy method. In fact, if Bitcoin investment is done in a disciplined manner with discretionary income, that investor will become the owner of the largest amount of Bitcoin than a trader.

I believe that whoever has spent a full month on this forum should have known what he wants and not a single teaching would change who is made up. That some folks refused to the right thing does not make it right because at the end, everyone is to blame for his own mistakes. Bitcoin trading is not a wise option for a beginner and saying that you can gain more bitcoin from trading is deceitful. There has been reports of folks who got so depressed due to the losses they incurred from bitcoin trading, but I am yet to see a report of a bitcoin investor who has held his bitcoin for a very long time and incurred a loss except on the ground of lost wallet details or seed phrase. So why will a person risk his money over the decision he chose for himself? Trading requires extreme experience and expertise of which if anyone is willing to take that stress, maybe the Trading discussion board should be your favourite.

Here we are discussing long-term Bitcoin savings DCA or HODL. Learning trading skills or finding ways to succeed in trading is not the main goal of this thread. So next time you would better discuss investment here. Because trading is quite risky for beginners. You may have enough knowledge in trading but that does not mean that you can enter and beat the market in trading. Many people claim that they "understand the market", but later it turns out that they actually waited for the price to drop and could not buy. Even a small profit forced them to sell greedily. Learning trading skills is not the main thing. Rather, if you can create a financial and mental position to maintain a long-term plan, it may be possible to strengthen your position.

The fact that you can be able to manage your money properly doesn't make trading to be risk free neither does it in any way minimise the risk involved in trading. Trading bitcoin is same as gambling with bitcoin, so even with proper money management gambling will always remain risky.

Agree, since that waiting to learn enough knowledge and waiting for perfect time is really a trap. They would end up experiencing endless delay if they have that kind of mindset. Much better to think about identifying their how much discretionary income they have and then they could start small, this is most practical way since they could learn a lot from their real time experiences. As always Bitcoin always rewards those consistent and hesitant people gets nothing, then also end up regretting. Having common sense, gradual learning and then do steady small buys is great combination to make their future became promising. They don't need to rush that's why small buys could provably help them learn thru the process and its better also much advisable action than doing nothing.

~ There surely can be variation in regards to how a guy who started buying bitcoin since August 2022 might have had started. If the guy had been already being sufficiently aggressive in his bitcoin buys for the last nearly 4 years, then he might not have any ability to increase his level of aggressiveness based on current prices. If a guy who had been buying bitcoin since August 2022 is able to increase his aggressiveness, then maybe he had been holding back in earlier times. We cannot presume that guys who had been whimpy or who had been aggressive or who had engaged in some other level in prior times were necessarily being rational with their earlier choices, yet they still might be acting, in part, currently based on prior level of aggressiveness choices that they had already been making. Those who were holding back in earlier times have the option to compensate for there wimpy behaviour by investing more at current price. They have seen Bitcoin price going up and down in past years, such person knows that price of $60k is an opportunity to cover his wimpy bahaviour of the past. If he still remains wimpy then its his own choice as everyone is free to make decision related to his investment. Frequently it is difficult to make up for mistakes from the past - especially if a person had been too whimpy in the past. But, yeah, sometimes the best solution for guys who had been whimpy in the past is to just try to learn from that and then to be as aggressive as they can without over doing it... And, yeah, it won't completely make up for the past, and every new investment in bitcoin should have a 4-10 year or longer timeline, so it can take time for that 4-10 year or longer timeline to run with the earlier purchases likely having advantages over the more recent purchases. If some people are still investing with their emergency funds that is very wrong, what if after investing the funds and a serious emergency situation where and the need for the emergency raises and requires urgent finances to facilitate the process; what would happen then. The DCA as mentioned should be considered to buy in situations like this as it well enables them buy and accumulate more Bitcoin dip, else it's good if an investor also buy during dip too, nevertheless whatever period a person chooses to invest deeps on his financial strength, it is not right to invest with our emergency funds, this is why it's good to have a budget on how to spend our funds to avoid such risk of interfering with our emergency funds due to poor planning.
Initiating such decision in our investment journey is actually suiciding and it's not advisable. However, emergency funds should be kept on standby for what it stands to serve in our investment journey, no need of risking it for no reason because emergency situations can be so unpredictable, meaning it come unexpected. Therefore jeopardizing our investment by investing from our emergency funds instead of our discretionary funds is gambling actually, and things like this will only force one to sell by force just to settle unplanned situations. Keeping emergency funds separate from investment capital is a smart financial habit, it helps one remain invested without being forced to sell when life throws surprises your way. The reason of emergency fund is security, while investment are meant for long term growth, blending the two can lead to difficult decision during unexpected event. So many people underestimate how important an emergency fund is until they actually need it investing only what one can afford to leave untouched is always the right decision. Perhaps, you should always use the right word or term so you don't confuse newbie here, there is nothing like Investment capital in Bitcoin investment rather it is discretionary income which is something we can afford to lose, remember capital is different from discretionary income because capital is a money or funds one use to start a business that they cannot afford to lose while discretionary income is that funds that someone can let go with little or no worry. Capital is built from past discretionary funds, and you can call it whatever you like, it is just a variation of reserve funds... there is nothing special about capital, except your choice to have had labelled it as if it were special. Regarding the points about emergency funds versus reserve funds, these are also labels, and surely there could be points under which guys do not want their back up funds to deplete, and the funds that are held in those areas are referred to as emergency funds... and yeah, guys should not be using emergency funds to buy bitcoin, even if there is a dip since a dip in bitcoin price is not an emergency. Yet at the same time, when a bitcoin newbie is still building up his back up funds, he might not have had labelled the various funds, and he may well have both emergency funds and reserve funds mixed, since it may well be difficult to tell someone that they cannot spend from any of their back up funds during the period that the emergency funds are getting built up to a level of 3 months, so then it can take a while to reach that level of having had built up 3 months of expenses worth of back up funds, and so in the meantime, there can be various circumstances along the way in which the bitcoin newbie is building back up funds and buying bitcoin but then also sometimes suffering situations in which his income may have had gone down and/or his expenses had gone up, so he does not have enough discretionary funds to cover all of his expenses, so it would seem that the first thing that he might do is to stop buying bitcoin, but then he also might end up having to tap into some of his back up funds until his income increases and/or his expenses decrease. So there can be some loosey goosey in categories that guys face while they are getting their back up funds to be up to at least 3 months of their expenses, and any time that the back up funds are tapped into, then that can surely delay even getting them up to 3 months of expenses, even during times that some guys might be having difficulties determining whether they might continue buying bitcoin or trying to decide if they have enough funds to continue buying bitcoin or do they have to prioritize replenishing the back up funds that they had tapped into or even they might consider that some balanced buy back might allow them to also be able to buy bitcoin at the same time that they are replenishing their back up funds to its pre-tap levels. In my opinion Trading involves more than just purchasing low and waiting for the price to rise. With this narrative, some people may believe that trading is so simple.
Of course gambling tends to be more of a game of luck rather than a game of skill, yet there are variations in gambling in which some kinds of gambling has more skills than others. The same is true for trading, there are both skills and luck that are involved in trading, and surely some traders will have more skills than others in regards to how they manage their trade timing, their position size and other considerations that they might include into their trading approach. So there can be degrees in anything, and so it is not unfair to refer to traders as gamblers, even though some might have more skills than others, and there was another mention of bitcoin traders differing from investors in their practice to want to sell some or all of their bitcoin with an intention of buying back cheaper, which may or may not end up working out for them, even if they believe that they might be timing some top or anticipating some future lowering of the bitcoin price. You are right there’s no best time ti buy you can literally start buying anytime all you need to start is some discretionary income and some basics knowledge (for those that are still new to bitcoin ). Is not a fixed thing you can Start right a way , but the best time is now you don’t have to over think it before starting , because many over think it and endup procrastinating because they will keep given themselves excuses why not to start yet and stuff .
Is it really necessary to wait till there is available discretionary funds before buying bitcoin? I think starting with discretionary funds is better and safer for those new to bitcoin investment but that is not the only criteria to start investing. Anyone who takes bitcoin as a priority would take into account means to invest periodically with long term in mind. The basic criteria should be a having a sustainable job that could pay the bills and every other necessities. Bitcoin could be taken as secondary or primary depending on the individual in question but it should come as an important investment exercise when there is trust and understanding of the system it drives. You are creating too many requirements when you suggest that you need a stable income before you can get started buying bitcoin, since all you need to get started buying bitcoin is discretionary funds. Of course, anyone who might want to continue to buy bitcoin would have to decide whether he has discretionary funds each time that he goes to buy, whether weekly or otherwise, so surely in some sense there are advantages when guys have stable incomes when they want to continue to buy bitcoin on a regular basis, they are likely going to be in a better position if they have income that comes in on a regular basis... yet it still is not required that they have to have a regular job (or income) prior to being able to get started buying bitcoin. Another thing that we frequently value and discuss in these various bitcoin investment threads is the starting of the buying of bitcoin as soon as a guy knows that he has discretionary funds, and the fact that there is value in getting started and learning as you go including that there is value in action and there are abilities to learn more and better when putting ideas into practice rather than merely theorizing about the ideas (in this case, the regular, consistent and persistent buying of bitcoin whether weekly or some other time increment and whether $100 per week, $10 per week or some other amount). In my opinion Trading involves more than just purchasing low and waiting for the price to rise. With this narrative, some people may believe that trading is so simple.
In whatever guise you tend to look at it from, when you are trying to prove that you know so much about something that you don't have control over, what you are doing is actually gambling and that is the reason why trading is sometimes considered to be a form of gambling. and contrary to what some persons might believe, profitability is possible with trading but just like gambling, things can easily go wrong and you encounter a massive and devastating loss. such is not the case with buying and just holding your asset for the long term. If you buy your bitcoin for the sake of long term holding, what is the worse that can happen to it? you might just experience a bear that last for a long time which only means that you are not going to sell during that time but if you are accumulating for the long term, times of bear becomes an added advantage that helps you to even stack much bitcoin at a cheaper rate. your profiting while staying invested might not come all too sudden but at least, it is still more guaranteed than gambling around in the form of trying to accumulate your bitcoin in a smart way. If you don't have leverage, then the worst that can happen is that your investment could go to zero. The bitcoin price spirals down and you keep buying and the price continues to go down. That would not be good, but it could happen in a worst case scenario... there might be other worst case scenarios regarding wrench attacks, too... but why focus on the negative?

Comparison with gambling is not completely misplaced, but it is much simpler than that. If you have 10 years of poker experience, you will still do better than beginner every time and same goes for trading. While luck is important, traders who consistently make money are those who are managing risk, positioning and understanding of market structure. Your separation of traders and investors is more useful one really. Anyone who is attempting to sell and repurchase at lower price is playing very hard game, one that even professionals have less right than they admit. Long term investors will ignore the whole problem and just hold skip.

To be able to buy bitcoin continuously and hold for long without selling you need your discretionary income, to invest and to also set up your backup funds, the moment you decide you don't need your discretionary income to buy bitcoin then you are already deciding to not be a bitcoin investor.

If you put gambling, trading and investment in a scale and compare their risks you would see that gambling is far more risky followed by trading which have it's risks because of volatility then the least risky is Bitcoin investment because it has shown potentials that it can reach ATH on the long term. Gambling depends on luck to win except some skill based games which still depends on luck, trading requires skills and experience to make profit and minimize loses but Bitcoin investment doesn't quite require any skills and luck. In Bitcoin investment what you have to do is accumulate and hold for as long as it takes to see profit and if you keep holding after it dip it would recover and reach another ATH. Gambling and trading can give you a lot of money on the short term but they can also blow your account very fast which is very risky but Bitcoin investment requires holding for many years for you to get multiplied profit although nothing is guaranteed.

Anything that the chances of being successful is by luck or chances instead of hope is very risky. Well volatility also makes Bitcoin risky but since there's a historical prove that people who buy and hold it longer are likely to be successful makes it better than gambling and trading that requires more of luck or chance. The ability to recover after a decline gives people hope that they'll get good returns in the future if they invest in it the right way although holding is not as easy as it sounds, investors would definitely face challenges through volatility but it takes those who are, determine to be successful in the investment to hold longer and achieve their aim.

But when you are lavishing your money on something that is less important then you are already failing to build a better future. However, if expenses is much I would not advise someone to invest in Bitcoin because they will be inviting problem themselves.

I have seen some people that have a source of income, but due to the fact that the income in question is just too small, and on most occasions it can't even sort out his or her basic needs properly, so such person should rather seek for an additional source of discretionary income, so that he can be able to figure out his discretionary income after all expenses have been made, because if he went ahead to invest when he has not taken care of his basic needs, it would only be a matter of time before he will sell off his holdings in a loss, just to address the pressing basic needs at hand, so figuring out our discretionary income is the best forward, before thinking of investing in Bitcoin.

I agree to almost everything thing you said until you made mention of having a backup fund upfront before starting Bitcoin investment, So far I’ve been able to assimilate as a newbie, an investor doesn’t necessary need to have backup fund set out before starting Bitcoin investment, as long as a guy have discretionary fund available he can start Bitcoin accumulation and building up your backup fund and/or emergency fund simultaneously. Also, a guy can start Bitcoin investment and also disciplining himself on a long term plan. Not having all this set out except for discretionary fund, shouldn’t be a benchmark for not starting investing in Bitcoin. Except there’s no determination in the first place.

- So, the best strategy is to start investing small amounts of your disposable income according to your ability and continue the learning process at the same time.
It's certainly better to start right away because over time, your knowledge will certainly increase as long as you continue to study diligently. Personally, as a beginner, I've found that starting right away is better than not starting at all. However, that's on the condition that you only use money you can afford to lose, or discretionary income, to buy BTC. However, sometimes people who are new to BTC are afraid to try. However, if you don't try, you won't know what it's like to buy and hold BTC. However, starting with a small amount of money is a wise and good idea. Investing in BTC is certainly quite easy because you only need to buy BTC using discretionary income and hold it for a long period of time. Certainly, there are quite a few people who feel they know a lot about BTC but ultimately can't hold it long-term. So, the most important thing is being able to hold BTC for the long term.

You just said the truth. I agree that the opportunities we missed in the past we can’t change it or undo past hesitation, what matters most is to improve our decisions moving forward, because regret itself can never increase our bitcoin holdings, once we learn from past mistakes and taking forward consistent action. furthermore once we learn from those mistakes, we should see them as more opportunity to plan ahead, but being more aggressive does not mean to take a big risk, that simply means to investing confidently with discretionary income and stay consistent with DCA strategy.

In my opinion Trading involves more than just purchasing low and waiting for the price to rise. With this narrative, some people may believe that trading is so simple.
Everything need kmowledge before thinking of being successful, because honestly trading is very hard but regardless of how it is knowledge is the key to be successful. Absolutely right, don't let your mind be distracted by trading. Basically, if you want to succeed from trading, it's clearly unrealistic at this time. Therefore, don't be fooled by this, because fundamentally, nothing good comes from instant results, and trading is no exception. So, right now, it's better to focus on your current job and try not to waste money so you can have discretionary funds to invest in Bitcoin. This is a more reasonable and less risky way to change your financial situation in the future. Although investing in Bitcoin requires a long process and some emotional struggle, believe me, it will make you grateful for it in the future. Bitcoin is an asset with the potential to continue growing. Therefore, buy Bitcoin now and hold it.
