Why the cryptocurrency market always go down during the holidays? even the smaller ones like Easter?
I noticed many times in the past the crypto market normally goes down when people are on holidays from Christmas to Eid-mubarak.
Just noticed the market also relaxed during the smaller holidays like Easter, Diwali (a bit) and Maulud. but not on the valatine's day - lol!

Well, the market started recovering from the Easter holidays today and it appears the bitcoin is heading to another milestone, which is very nice.
What is your take on this matter? Feel free to share views with us here... thanks Smiley

I dint really take note of this, but it would have been worth if i had bought more, i noticed the increase too, maybe most people that have received money as gift for the occasion, saw it as free money and opportunity to do something good with it, instead of spending it on what will not affect their future, just like i did too. I got free $1000 dollars as gift from a big family friend, so i invested the whole $1000 dollars, i would have added more from my personal money, if i knew people would do the same.

Almost always, during the holidays, the crypto trade slows down and loses in value, and that's the current Bitcoin flight, I think to go back to Sunday.

Why the cryptocurrency market always go down during the holidays? even the smaller ones like Easter?

Is there any valid statistic shows that market always go down during holidays?
I did not really notice about it since I'm not day trader and I'm very rare to do trade during holidays or even weekends.

No need fancy sites, just open the MetaTrader of crypto-related broker and check the daily volumes. You will see the clear difference between regular day and holiday. Trading the holiday price movements is boring and I avoid to trade on flat days.

Why the cryptocurrency market always go down during the holidays? even the smaller ones like Easter?

Maybe its because there is less trading that is happening in the market within the holiday season or even the likes of Easter holiday. Most traders take this event to have a break or a family bonding and just decided to stop trading for a while. Since most holidays are for family bonding they are somewhat obliged to follow.

Usually towards any given holiday especially long holidays, most people cash out (both those who are actually cashing out to spend and those that are anticipating a boring trading period)., this is the major reason for that

I personally have done this numerous times and even didn't it prior to Thursday last week(I cashed out and bought on Sunday) and i believe so many other day traders too do this kind of move.

I don't think there is sort of correlation between bitcoin price and holidays. I remember last year when people says that after the Chinese New Year, the price will pick up because the Chinese will start to buy again. But obviously, the opposite happen, so for me it doesn't matter if we are on a holiday or not. People will continue to buy or will sell anytime specially that this market is really based on news and sentiments around.

If you attention it really is like there are other influences about holidays and also the cryptocurrency market, but in reality I think it's just something unplanned or coincidental. That is, when the market is in a pump or dump trend, but at the same time the trend is happening on holidays or whatever, so most of us assume that holidays affect the market. Anyway, those on holidays must have other strategies when leaving the market and won't just leave it.

The holiday period will have no effect on the price of Bitcoin for now, maybe it's the profit that is printed for now by running anything except that I see a slight decline in trade changes after the last few weeks but now very fast pumping is happening, this is an advantage for all people to trust the market and in the future, we just wait for the extent to which the market will recover and get better from now on, maybe with a relatively cheap price and there is still hope to rise so most people try to hold back from falling behind when the market starts to rise.

We can presume but not actually a solid proof that the price is correlating with holidays.Just take a look also when its the end of the week (weekend) where price is usually going down and

it do starts to recover on weekdays as i observed but this is not actually happening always and i do say its just pure coincidence or just a typical movement of crypto market and theres no solid
proofs that it do have a connection. We might observed the movement but not a reliable thing to make it as an indication.

That's what's so tricky with all of this stuff. Even if the Chinese started buying more (pushing the price up) a larger force could have pushed the price down, hiding the fact that the Chinese did in fact push the price up, it's just that the net movement was downward.

Unfortunately it's easy for us to fall into the logical fallacy of Post hoc ergo propter hoc (after this, therefore because of this).

Personally I don't think holidays never create big impact on the crypto prices other than Christmas,so probably few day traders were dumping their coin at holiday then buy it again to make profit.

I don't know if there are some statistic data that support that theory or is this just appearance? If it's the true that holidays impact the price the reason might be because of smaller number of active traders and investors. Usually people are less active on those days although if you are a serious trader, especially day trader you should be present on the market 24/7'

People might want to reap their profits and celebrate the holidays which is why the values might go down now and then, but this is not always true. This is a 24/7 market which is why pumps and dumps happen all the time for some or another reason.

Don't bother with the reasons too much. Sometimes spikes happen here and there for no reason whatsoever.

yes this is the disadvantage and also the advantage involved in day trading because you can get daily income while you are being a day trader and it will give the tension and pressure about daily work involved in Delhi so everything is like the same to face the problems involved in it.

This kind of belief should be changed. There is no "big impact" between the behaviour of crypto market and holidays especially with the examples given by OP (Lenten Season, Ramadan etc).

Overall that is just a pure Speculation. Before Lenten Season, bitcoin price already shows sign of acquiring more fuel. Even if we based on "past performance", that's not making sense. Not all traders have the same view about what will be their approach on their respective funds in the upcoming holidays.

Can't also applied to a day trader. Market reacts all the time, even on holidays or not.

It seems that most people tend to exchange their crypto to fiat just to spend with the holidays especially during the christmas season. That's the one thing that i have noticed every time when there is a special holiday coming in. I guess people are now using cryptocurrency as their own banks and don't put their cash in the banks.

Probably it has an effect but I think that is not too much, I guess holders did not convert their bitcoin if the seen that they still have a loss.
This coincidence will not consider as a major that affects the price of bitcoin maybe just only a small correction or we are still in dip situation.
That is normal to bitcoin that has a fluctuation every time and I think that is normal that we can feel dump at holidays.

The market do go down during holidays because of the low level of activities.  Many traders especially the day traders That move the market are not trading and as such price do goes down.  I do believe that now we are all back to do what we know to do best.

Perhaps that really happened that the low activity from traders and convert their coin into fiat to expend together their family and maybe broke boringness from trading. But I think that is not the major part there maybe it will contribute to dump the price but not all time. Sometimes I also think that it is the only coincidence of having dump market. However, if we know this will happen we think ahead before holidays come.

I have never noticed clearly about the decline in the price of bitcoin on certain days as you mentioned.
can you give a little picture that shows the price of bitcoin falls when it's a celebration day?

I saw the chart on December 25, 2018, which was a Christmas celebration, Bitcoin did experience a decline of around $ 200 from the previous day.

I think it is not the day traders that are not trading during holidays, its the other people who do not care about trading as much as they care about vacation that stops.

Day trader is trading daily like in the name and since we are in crypto there is no national holiday for us and everyday even including new years that we celebrate as a whole world is still trading moments, you can buy something a second to go in one year and sell it after a second in new year and the exchanges will be open so any smart day trader will be always online.

I have done it before and I have checked the prices even while on vacation in some country and did some moves because I knew that price movements can't be none observed for too long or it could seriously hurt your profits.

Honesty, I have never taken note of this for once, and I think I will start studying it too to take note of, it will be another good strategy to enter the market during holidays, knowing fully well that the market will pick after the holiday.

I want to believe that the reason why it is so, is because of the events that requires money to be spent, maybe some people withdrew part of their investment to cater for such occasion, which is not bad, after all, the system was not only created for investment alone, but for our daily transactions and savings, so they have the right to pull from it at any time and I am sure it will be replaced back.

In my personal opinion, Generally, everybody thinks that The price of BTC will fall down on the day which is mention on the OP. And this thinking down the price of bitcoin on the celebration days and Holidays. So now the question is how this happens?? Then see below

Suppose you are thinking before marry Christmas that bitcoin can go down around the [celebration]day, So generally you will want to sell before the day and try to buy back when stable again. Ok now if everybody thinks similar things and do similar things like you, then what will happen? [ It means everybody sells their crypto on the basis of their guesses ] Obviously the price of BTC will fall down, is not it??

Thus the price of BTC falls down on the celebration days I think. Thanks

It is all about keeping the things to be safe for our self because we cannot do all the things in a same day so day trading is little difficult when compared to other type of business for that we need to adapt ourselves for getting daily income that is the only advantage here in this field.

People were probably selling bitcoin for fiat currencies for holidays shopping  in mostly their local markets. You sure this holidays can still affect the market these days? Probably why the recent easter didn't affect it much?

Why the cryptocurrency market always go down during the holidays? even the smaller ones like Easter?
I noticed many times in the past the crypto market normally goes down when people are on holidays from Christmas to Eid-mubarak.
Just noticed the market also relaxed during the smaller holidays like Easter, Diwali (a bit) and Maulud. but not on the valatine's day - lol!

Well, the market started recovering from the Easter holidays today and it appears the bitcoin is heading to another milestone, which is very nice.

Holiday is the time when others spent their holiday or free time in family or going somewhere else which has a greater effect in the total market volume. Many of the day traders and scalpers were busy. It's not happening in every holiday but most of the time, good observation man, ilike this kind of thing that gives information to others who wants to know and not know some reasons why the markets volatility is becoming low for a certain time or day.

I thought in Christmas some dudes buy their gifts online and using bitcoin in some payment methods. Or is it just it goes down because they switch their crypto to fiat and buy the necessary things on Christmas holidays?

Well I still trade during holidays and make profit, especially when I know it's a chinese holiday because I am certain that there will be a dump in price, all you need do is to swap your coin for any stablecoin in the market and then swap back to that coin after the dump as occurred thereby making lots of profit for yourself, the crypto market is so fun because you can take advantage of any activity to happening in the space to make profit for yourself.

Are you so sure about this, because china is in a 5 days national holiday now from 1st of May to 5th of May and I have been checking the market and all I am seeing is increase in price of coins, even bitcoin that dumped before then, has already picked up back to its former price and may not dump again because it about crossing the resistance line.

If you are talking about the main holiday which was done some months back, I still didn’t see any effect of it on the market, so I really don’t know which of the holidays you are talking about. Some of these things might just be speculations and not how the market operates.

The reason for Bitcoin coming up well, I think depends on positive or negative information so the days of thinking do not affect Bitcoin's price. The effect is only for New Year or Christmas, Bitcoin often increases in price.

China celebrated labor day on May 1st.  May 1 was not a great day for bitcoins but yet it showed some movement and growth. China is one of the countries holding most of the bitcoins and as of even on their holidays, bitcoins was showing some growth means bitcoins are not really affected by the holidays.

Instead peoples are busy buying and selling coins most of the time without actually looking for time or day because cryptocurrency markets have no restriction on time as off stock markets. So, I really think that price growth of bitcoins is the sign of mass peoples going for bitcoins instead of the holidays. Price changes on holidays can just be the factor of luck rather than the markets.

The market looks more welcoming and I believe day traders are getting to recover their losses, now holidays should not be a thing to worry about if a day trader already have the skills and the analysis on how to follow up the market even getting to know when it's time to exit and also time to come back in. Definitely will make it a 99% on the market.

Even with the going up and down there are good qualified traders who understands it better, yeah we know that we have no king in the market when it comes to prediction and all the rest activitie one will have to set up before he or she can hit the target.

I really doubt that there is any valid statistics for that coz this mostly happens maybe due to fewer traders and most do sell out few weeks or days before the holiday pickups i guess so normally market tends to go really down even before the holiday get started

For me, I also noticed that before, but some are just small dumps/pumps. Maybe because they are closing there positions? Even it is short or long positions.
But if you think it, it should like that. Trading is 24/7, there's a lot of traders in the world, not only those doing relax on holidays and we have different timezone in every country, also consider that.

The rise is even more than 4.47 % right now as Bitcoin has surpassed 5,600 USD value in the open market. This is great and I am happy about it as it going to be very instrumental in attracting investors. We can get the value raised more as well. This is important to be part of this bullish market and many people join due to FOMO but whatever the reason is, it eventually pay off for them.

Peoples might be selling their coins off during festivals or holidays Grin Grin But seriously talking, bitcoins are now heading towards huge step and we can soon expect better price for bitcoins. I think after the mid 2017 bitcoins are now showing some growth and we can expect bitcoins to cross the number reached even in the mid 2017.

And considering for day trading, holidays are actually great way to make profits as most of the peoples are busy doing nothing on holidays and it is the time when we need to pop-up and show some talent.

Let me tell you how serious traders can get. I have a friend who does day trading every single day, it doesn't matter which day it is he literally trades every single day 365 days a year no matter what. He was still trading on his phone during new year celebrations, we were all out we were all having fun getting drunk and partying which he was definitely doing as well, but he was also trading at the same time. His father in law got a little sick, not too serious but just a bit and he went to hospital for visiting and they were going to be there for a lot of hours so he took his laptop with him plugged it in and kept trading there with him. He couldn't see his family for months because they live a bit far from him so he gets to see them only couple times a year but when they came to his house he was still trading with his phone.

Trading is a serious business, every single second matters.

I did not really notice about it since I'm not day trader and I'm very rare to do trade during holidays or even weekends.

it's funny speculation, even though there are logical reasons such as people selling their assets for vacation, it should not have an effect on the market, because not all users do that and holidays do not occur throughout the world
I think it's only your suggestive, prices fall for other rational reasons dude

Maybe the other trader cashout sone of their coins to convert into fiat to use holiday like vacation that's why the marker down during holiday. But not all effcts of holiday is bad because they have some scenario who increase the bitcoin even holidays. Not all people celebrating holidays they still have some people who stay home and work to bitcoin.

Usually my friends think if in weekend, some people outside my country do holiday too that is why some coins have really low in market volume. And until now i follow it. And other thing that we believe in here is market will have a lot of volume in night of my country, so we are here do trade activity on night.

I am not worried if the holiday comes because I can trade without using my computer. I installed TabTrader to watch the market and if the price can go up to the higher price or the sign can give good progress, then I will directly use the apps to place my order sell.
So far, I don't have any problem with the holiday because I can stay online everywhere and I can access the site on my mobile phone.
Even if the market is down at the holiday, I can anticipate buying in dip because I set the alarm if the price is reaching the lower or, the higher price so I can directly watch the apps and decide later.

Well, agree that not all users sell their properties during the holidays, only a few people do that because as you say, holidays are not always happening all over the world, many areas don't celebrate holidays but keep in mind that this market always has a crowd effect. The whales just need to create a small effect on the market, the market will also collapse, and the number of people who sell their property during the holidays is always whale, this is one reason to explain why during each holiday season, the crypto market value always has a downward trend.

It's just a speculation. It ain't consistent. To mention, OP didn't state if it was before, during or after the holidays. Just do your TA and trade according to your plan because if you'd take this aa an advice, you'd end up broke

True. In most of the ideas or signal can see in the technical analysis but not that you end up broke. In the other hand you have a choice to trade or not to trade in holiday upon your own analysis and maybe to have some time to rest. Trading will be always right there anytime you want to get in trade again.

Well, if you nonstop trading then how would you enjoy your money? It's very normal to take a holiday and enjoy your life. No need to be greedy because we will always end in a graveyard. Therefore, let's take a break sometimes and enjoy the money you before we regret everything.

Is this what OP is talking about?

Try to read it again and comment it if you got what is this course of this thread.

@OP the price fall o the special holidays is just normal because people will cashout few of their bitcoins for spending so if you are a smart trader buy at the time of holidays.

Holidays means rest days and even stock markets are closing their trading on that particular day. This also may be the reason why the price slightly falls down and comes back again after. To think that a holiday is just a one day problem only, i assume i cam handle that sometimes.

Hmmm, interesting but looks like it's obvious that people during holidays will spend their time with family and friends which is they gonna do some selling of their bitcoin but I never noticed it since I just started last year in crypto, I would thank you for mentioning this I would take this in my note.
The concept of holidays is over for the people who are in crypto or in technology. Their mindset is that of a workaholic which means that despite the holidays, they prefer to work and read. It is important to stay active and updated with the latest in the area you are dealing with. A long term trader would enjoy the holidays without checking the price of his coins but a day trader might do so frequently.

I never noticed this situation happen during holiday season is there any valid reason why this happen? Well personally Im not a day trader anymore since the market are not stable the bitcoin price are always pump and dump tahts why I cannot see this happen during holiday season like what OP mention.
I think it is just a myth and probably coincidence sometimes, but I don’t think it is a cycle, if it were, many people would have been exposed to the trick long time and take advantage of it to make more money.

Many people just assume that people will need money during holiday, and may want to cash out some of their investment to meet up with their holiday expenses, but I doubt if they case will always be like this, because any one putting money for investment will strictly know that the investment is for the future and will look for money elsewhere to meet up with their holiday expenses.

I think that is a normal thing. Everyone would  like to take a break during the holidays, it happens everywhere , so you should also expect the prices of stocks and assets to drop during times like this. After the holidays the price has started to go up again and I can see that it has already reached $5,700 and we are likely to reach $6000  before the end of this month, May. I usually read Cointelegraph's top 10 review and from what I have seen, based in their analysis, there’s likely to be a bull run.

Usually my friends think if in weekend, some people outside my country do holiday too that is why some coins have really low in market volume. And until now i follow it. And other thing that we believe in here is market will have a lot of volume in night of my country, so we are here do trade activity on night.

Real businessmen (and day traders are businessmen of course) do not take the days-off often as they know that each of these days can lead to a fail. They do not want to lose even a chance to earn.

Almost always, during the holidays, the crypto trade slows down and loses in value...

This shouldn't be confusing if this is your observation. It is economic theory that can help you understand it.
If you have much people that are demanding for a particular commodity, the value of that commodity is likely to go up and so during the holiday periods, you have few people in the market trading. This is my little understanding of the economics.

I don't think this is really true but based on the chart, there might be really price changes when holidays come. With this, always look for the right timing to trade so that you will not be caught with its price sideways.Because it's really hard to make profits if the market condition suddenly falls down that's why day trading always have more risks than long term trading.

There is a very good way that you can build your positions without being trapped by the vacancies, and is to study very well what you plan to do and then build from placing your Stop Loss and Take Profit well located, since it is essential that if you feel that you are going to miss a movement is a very noble way of being inside the market and you see it enjoying your daily activities or work.

In the cryptocurrencies the market is 24 hours without rest, it is not healthy that you are 24 hours attached to the PC, but it is a very good way to not miss the movements.

You also have to be very emphatic, when an important movement occurs, most operators obey their movements many times to the different emotions they feel at the moment, that's why you have to have criteria to make the right decisions, the Strong Hands, Market Makers, always plan their movements without taking into account news, or anything like it, because they have their plans already fully done, unless there is a possible event that marks the world's attention.

I think that is the ideal way to protect yourself, however, it does not hurt to be informed, although I have learned that market movements are not produced by the news, unless it is a Fundamental.

I'm not primarily a day trader as I have found I'm overall a better swing trader than a day trader, but I receive price movement alerts from apps so I can hop on an exchange like Bitmex quickly to quickly alter a position or open a new one. Ideally you'd be online at your desk making trades, but sometimes you've got to make do with a phone too. You can always just close out your trades before sleeping or before you plan on travelling, etc so you don't get liquidated or stopped out while you don't have access to your PC.

Since a cryptocurrency is an all time 24/7 thing, I believe that you can deal with it anytime even if you have holidays provided you are passionate about it and you know things that could enable you make money in trading. My favorite way of making money is by speculating in a good coin and I think that if you really want to enjoy and stay away from crypto in holidays, speculate.

Yeah most of the time the price usually will go down during holiday or weekend, there is not many transactions volume happening in holiday compare to usual day, you can take advantage from this situation to buy more, as long as its fluctuative you can make profit even if the price is falling down
