Is this related to the decline of the Turkish lira and economic problems? I mean the platform has been operating since 2013.
This morning I saw an announcement for that site at Istanbul Stadium. I thought it was photoshop but it is related to this deal.

The club may receive up to 7.5 mn TL fee based on performance.
The strange thing is that it is a platform for cryptocurrencies and yet the payment is in the local currency, I wish the deal would be in Bitcoins.

This is not related to the economical problems.

Yes, that was a real photo from the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium that belongs to Fenerbahce football team.

The strange thing is that it is a platform for cryptocurrencies and yet the payment is in the local currency, I wish the deal would be in Bitcoins.

Yes, indeed. If Bitcoin was accepted legally, it would be great to pay in Bitcoins Smiley This sponsorship is a step to go to mass to legalize Bitcoin in Turkey.

It is a lot related to the financial problems in Turkey actually.

And that's how I use bitcoin. You'll never know what'll happen tomorrow in Turkey. You don't know  what you will be waking up to in the morning.

Having bitcoins is a hedge against this unpredictability.

I have more confidence in bitcoin than what I have in TRY and the Government. I am pretty sure Bitcoin will be functioning tomorrow. Not sure about the country.

Yet another football club having a Bitcoin company as sponsor. We've seen exchanges and sportsbetting sites now in the past two years. Who knows, only a matter of time before other crypto industries make an appearance. Mining? Media? R&D?

And I agree. It is somewhat related to what's going on in Turkey. Any Turk living abroad now and getting your bank account or Revolut suddenly blocked for arbitrary reasons, or sending money abroad and knows the pain of a devaluing currency, will probably have heard of Bitcoin by now.

With or without being paid in Bitcoin, this sponsorship is a good step forward. In a country with quite an inflation, showing Bitcoin can do wonders for awareness (and maybe acceptance too, and then it'll be also paid in Bitcoin).
My wish would have been to put the Bitcoin name and/or sign there clearly, since many may not know what "btc" means.

This actually matters a lot. I usually wouldn't say this for these kinds of sponsorships, but this is different as citizens of Turkey are actually not allowed to use PayPal[1]; hence I think it's safe to say that there's a better chance of the Turkish people to actually try this out vs if tBtcTurk was advertised in some other country like the United States.

And I want to add it as an important reminder. This is the first major ad BTC in Turkey.

Turkey is a city that lives through football. Women, men, children, elderly ... There is a very large mass. And now we see BTCTurk commercials in every football competition. For example, BTCTurk advertisements were frequently shown on the billboards in the stadium during the match between two big teams last night.

I think it's a big step.

this is a big step in exposing bitcoin to more people in turkey, but there's still no question how the turkish government looks at bitcoin, i don't know how the turkish government's relationship with bitcoin is because i don't live in turkey but According to this news I read a few months ago:

“We are planning to start our own work on digital currencies. We place high importance on digitalization.”

Some in the government, however, reportedly remain skeptical toward cryptocurrencies at large, with several ministers comparing such projects to pyramid schemes.

I wonder how the Turkish government will see initiative like these

Government is still acting like CIA: Neither accepting Bitcoin, nor denying it Smiley On the other hand there are organizations working for the possible regulation advices. Like BtcTurk, exchanges and service provides work hard to go mass to tell Bitcoin is not something illegal but it's like a digital money, just better than you are keeping in your pocket.

“We are planning to start our own work on digital currencies. We place high importance on digitalization.”

Indeed, they some saw the advantages of cryptocurrencies but not as we expect. They have focused on the technology. But, yes, it's a step which will help for a big jump in the near future.
