-snip-
This is a simpler version of actually defining crypto currencies and the concempt of how they came about with digital currencies, but of course gaming money from such games which was fake is now made to be real for the real thing.

Letting developers know about Bitcoin is a good thing because almost everybody engulfed in using the Internet knows Bitcoin and might be knowledgeable in using it. Cryptocurrency being used in some games will be really helpful to the community that is playing that game because they can pay instantly and hassle free. Bitcoin is electronic money and wont be called fake because it can be converted into cash.

Is bitcoin still a legit cryptocurrency, compared to some of the newer o es coming out in airdrops?
Where did you get this stupid question mate?you are questioning the greatest currency ever created and comparing to shitcoins?

And asking about legitimacy what do you think is the answer, the bitcoin whos been here.for more than 10 years and helped many people to become richer or the airdrops who's mostly shitcoins or scamming?

I think you already have the answer right?

Fake money? Although bitcoin only uses online, it cannot be called as fake, because it is really usable and we can still buy something we want even in online. We can buy load, pay bills or buy some stuffs from wherever online shops we want.

This is amusing, I also play that game and laughed a bit when they revealed one of the VF goods is Cryptocash. Tell your nephew to just complete GE every week and not waste his real, hard-earned cash on diamonds.

His whole perspective on Crypto currencies changed, when he realized that digital items can have a value and that the virtual items that he bought within the game had less value than the bitcoins that can be bought and sold.  Wink

He should have known this from the start. He apparently value those diamonds and the items he bought using them enough to spend cash.  Grin

Main difference of course is I don't think he'd get a return on the value if he can sell those items away. (He can't of course, can't trade diamonds and buildings/consumable between players.)

Good that he discovered that there's something else digital he can buy that other people might be willing to buy at a higher price.

bitcoins are not fake money but a valid payment alternative to fiat, we should not spend so much to buy features and upgrades for video games in no way with fiat or crypto...
people who don't like bitcoin will say it as fake money, and so on. even though it is valuable because it can be used with many things. well, for me it's not fake money, and of course the price won't be high if it's useless.
for me bitcoin is indeed not real money, bitcoin is digital money and of course many functions of money, especially digital money. very naive if there are people who say bitcoin is fake money.

We can call cash fake money because it is just a piece of paper with some prints. Simply people cannot understand that virtual money hs its value as well, and we can never call Bitcoin a fake.

Is Bitcoin fake money? You must think again and you must study and research what is really bitcoin is, so that you may know if it is a fake money or not. Because bitcoin is a digital currency in which we can use to convert into a real money, so many are preferring to use bitcoin than the real money because in bitcoin or in cryptocurrency there are many ways or fields in how they can earn money, for example you can earn money by doing a trading in which you can trade your money or coin into a large amount of coins or else you can also buy and sell your coins in order to gain extra profit. For now I am using my bitcoins in order for me to participate and play some games in order for me to earn extra profit although it was a little but earning some profit is better than earning nothing right? Bitcoin is not a fake money because it is a digital currency in which we can convert into a real money.

If you can buy something for it, it cannot be fake. Even it is a virtual currency, it can be taken as money. Bitcoin is a result of the work of many people, therefore, it is another reason for calling it money.

Bitcoin cannot be faked because it is a digital currency that only exists on the internet, its ownership is not in the name of people but only consists of very complex code. Whereas for counterfeiting there must be physical goods, such as cash.
So, it is theoretically safer than holding cash. Especially if a long trip takes a long time, crossing between countries, it is more practical to have bitcoin because there is no customs inspection at the airport or seaport.

Last weekend I spend some time with some of my relatives and one of them were playing a online game called, Forge of Empires. This is a browser-based strategy game with more than 10 million registered users  Shocked

The main goal of the game is to expand and develop a city beginning from the Stone Age and ending in the Virtual Future. (They even have Crypto currencies as a tradable commodity within the game)  Grin <Well, not actual Crypto currencies, just a in-game commodity>

So after watching my nephew playing for 1 hour and talking to him, he revealed to me that he spend over $1000 on buying virtual diamonds in the game. <in 6 months>  Roll Eyes

We started talking about real Crypto currencies and he immediately started the argument that Crypto currencies are "fake" money and that it was not real money or even a commodity. My counter argument floored him, because I asked him if the diamonds that he bought in the game was real or if the items that he bought in the game was real.?

His whole perspective on Crypto currencies changed, when he realized that digital items can have a value and that the virtual items that he bought within the game had less value than the bitcoins that can be bought and sold.  Wink

He asked me to help him buy some bitcoins and he was very happy after a week, when he saw his investment in the supposed "fake" money, going up in value when the price increased.

Should we confront more people with the argument that most of the digital items that are bought online, might have less value than Crypto currencies.  Wink

Ps. I emailed the developers of the game <InnoGames> and asked them if they might consider accepting Bitcoin as a payment option, but they gave the generic answer that they are open to new payment options, but they cannot give a timeframe for when this might happen. <I think more people should ask them>  Tongue
Great effort even my concern also young generation should understand the value of crypto currencies . Lots of Kids which i am seeing busy playing mobile games where collecting some gems or meals . I always asking what you got from this by spending this much time .They show these useless gems or some task level . Even some are spending money to buy next level or Gems . I think Crypto currencies are way better than that you made it understand your relative . Even i will also try from now.

It is true the people who doesn't know a thing about it calls it fake and other thinks it is a scam .
This is the problem when people don't know a thing and still criticize it .
They all need to know it first before they call it something and to be honest I think most of the people who are too negative on Bitcoin are just making some issue because they want to buy it at a low price,
Of course OP's situation is different because his/her relative doesn't really know a thing about it.

Those sort of games rely on people to pay to make things happen faster and this means it can be limitless so you can spend infinite money really. It is like a money printing machine and people get addicted.
Those games only require a few people to keep running. There a few people who spend thousands and then most player play for free. I remember doing some research about this a while back.

In these games, the digital items have no value because there really isn't a market for them. When you use the blockchain and your items in-game are connected through it then you actually own your item and can sell it with ease.

The argument that bitcoin has more value than the items bought online is weak and can easily dismay new users if the price of bitcoin suddenly drops. I always avoid discussing bitcoin price whenever introducing bitcoin to newbies. They may get the wrong idea that bitcoin is a easy money scheme.

Still the game requires the income to continue being supported and to keep maintaining it.
Income provides the developer to work more / even harder as they get something in return. It also makes the game more stronger.
Also developers need their return for their own life ofc Smiley

Your move is very interesting and you were able to explain bitcoin in a very easy way for your nephew to accept bitcoin.
Not all of us have the same thinking and experience with your nephew so we cannot really assure that we can do this kind of explanation to more people.

Though the idea is great but I am still hesitant whether it will likely to help others especially in our country to accept bitcoin by using this kind of explanation.

Huh, you think so, I think you know bitcoin, some people really don't believe in bitcoin, to convince others or especially my parents, it needs to be hard work to describe or define bitcoin.

Bitcoin is not fake money. If Bitcoin or other crypto currency was fake, then we could not convert these to the money. With Bitcoin or other crypto currency we can now do a lot of our daily work. We can spend our needs. If Bitcoin was a fake money then how do we use Bitcoin in different offline areas?

IMO, gambling and gaming industries have made a lot for cryptocurrency adoption as alternative payments. The first boost of usage Bitcoin received after Silk Road site’s launch. Yes, the site was connected with illegal activity, but we can’t deny the fact that due to this site bitcoin saw the rise. The same thing is happening with gambling sites. Playing casino games is considered negative because in some cases it can lead to addiction. Taking into account that gambling goes back thousands of years, it was initially designed for a fun past time. I think the adoption of cryptocurrency by casino sites and games of different types is good for crypto spreading. Unlike bitcoin investors, gamers use crypto no matter what the current price is, but because it’s a more convenient way to pay.

I like to say Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as free money. Because I can get this virtual money from the internet for doing some stuff. some years ago before Bitcoin, we do a lot of stuff and will never get paid and we didn't even know that we can someday be paid for those work and I'm not talking about feeding. Today as cryptocurrencies are in the market there are a lot of possibilities open for money makers. So, of course, it is not fake money.

This is why they want to create a blockchain for gaming. What this means is every item on the game has its own token. You truelly own your item ingame and you can sell it. Your friends diamonds and ingame items would have crypto value if the game used a blockchain. I really hope it takes off some day it only make sense for gaming and crypto to mix.

The thing I like most is that I can finish with one game and sell my items and bring that value/money into another game. You could even making gaming into a job where you buy and sell or earn items and sell them in an auction house like in world of warcraft.
