Regulation is going to have to be administered somewhere especially in exchanges with fiat currencies. I think that if they hire cyber security firms that understand and are pro-crypto then it saves a lot of  people's asses

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

There will always be people who will try to steal but if we are able to stop it before the domino effect happens I think this will be huge for the entire community. We need cyber security firms that are able to look at the entire system from a birds eye view so we can take out those bad actors faster

https://news.yahoo.com/cryptocurrency-thefts-fraud-hit-1-211446327.html

In Q1 alone of 2019 there was $356m in theft of digital currencies from exchanges and scams while losses from fraud hit 851m. This number includes the QuadrigaX scam which accounts to about $134m in total losses.

What can we do to help stop these from happening and getting worse?
The problem is in engineers designing security systems. they need to be smarter and always have backup plans for attacks. when BNB was hacked nearly $ 40 million, CZ said it was due to the seminars, they said their security system. Since then, hackers can easily access exchange. Therefore, the following should be careful about disclosing their security system. because hackers are a lot now.

This not includes the Binance exchange scamming right?since it happened in Q2 .

But still that’s a huge amount just for three months of victimizing..and if added this another months for sure this will double the amount

This is part of the market growth, the criminals are eager to have a piece of cake from the profit we gain

Crypto exchange is very vulnerable to hacking efforts because there is a lot of money in it. Personally, I prefer to choose a personal wallet as a place to store my assets instead of keeping it in an exchange and that is certainly the first step in not being a victim. Exchange site owners should continue to try to think of the best way to stop or minimize the hacking efforts. It is truly unfortunate to see the fact that one event ( exchange being hacked ) isn't able to become a lesson and similar events still occur!

Crypto crimes as been happening a long time ago. I can still remember in 2017 where we heard about a lot of projects turning out to be huge scams. But nowadays we see more of hacks and people impersonating Devs from project just to scam. We need to create awareness to crypto users on various ways to Identify on various scam methods that are used by this and how to keep ourselves safe from being a victim.

We have a lot to do and achieve together when it comes to exposing scam projects ad scammers in general.
Some people are into aiding and abetting the works of scammers, by not exposing them whenever they come across one.
These set of people have reaped a lot of their hard earned money and have put them into sorrowful moments. This needs to stop.

Those crimes are getting worse that is true specially the scam so we need to be careful in what we are doing in cryptocurrency especially in investing because if we dont invest in those scam projects no can be victimized by them so investors invest only in legit projects like Dencoin tokens that is now running a ico that you csn buy tokens from them.

The question is why are centralized banks not getting much attack as cryptocurrency exchanges. Maybe exchanges encourage it in one way or another. I propose a body should hold kyc for exchange operators and fully monitor their activities while mandating them to create trust funds
Banks are attacked all the time but there are 3 reasons why you do not hear about this, first of all they control the media so there are not many stories about it, second the banking industry is many times bigger than the market of cryptocurrencies so they have more money to spare in security and third even if hackers found a way to steal from banks they will still need a way to cash out that money before banks can revert all of those transactions, something that is not easy to do.

each day internet fraud rises, some people are just specialist in getting that done, so my advice is that we should be careful of hodling too much coin in our wallet and not to be too confident in the security of our wallet, it has failed many, especially those who are above the senior cadre.

Since it is a free market and there are no laid down regulations, investors are always advised to take precautionary measures in order to make meticulous decisions in their investment activities. This calls for the necessity to protect wallet login details from phishers who normally lure people to their bait using enticing emails - never reply, open or download an unknown file from any unknown source. Always research extensively into a project before joining its investment.

We can do nothing in fact. What the maximum we can do is just become aware of such scammers and scam project, rally against them everywhere on social media, bitcoin forum, telegram and others. But the authorities are the only strongest one to take action and control such scams. Crypto community can form a self regulatory body, strict regulations should be in place.

Criminals are of course looking for loopholes to act, so there must be our own protection so as not to give access to criminals in action. For example, protecting e-mails with complicated passwords, not opening suspicious e-mails or not carelessly following obscure links, because that might be a trap.
From the government there must be clear rules regarding the use of crypto because without protection from the government, the perpetrators of crimes are increasingly brave because there are no governing laws.

Nothing we can do about that because hackers and scammers are rampant in different platform like exchanges, social media, telegram etc. Best thing to do is just to keep away from storing are coins/altcoins on exchanges to prevent loss if a hack happen on it.

The rate of those cryptocurrencies fraud is very alarming especially hackers stealing coins from exchanges, hackers sophistication is increasing every day in view of thise all these fraudulent activities is painting cryptosphere in a bad light.
Hodling our coins in cold wallet should be our most preferential means of securing them and we must guide against exposing our private keys.

Well, I have seen reasons that a lot of people has been stating out here - traders should stop holding large amount of coins in exchanges. How exactly did you get to know that traders hold large amounts on exchanges ?do you work in any exchanges ? So don't assume what you don't know. Everyone has an amount that they like to trade with and it goes from as much as $100 to even above $5000.

So even if everyone invest the little amount they have that little money from each person joined together amounts to a huge one and when hackers jam those sites they steal from a lot of wallets, so what's the difference? It's still going to be happening since exchanges don't care about their sites being secured, they only care about the fees and money they can make.

crime rates in the digital world are currently increasing, and that is quite natural if we see this opportunity. however, we can only do research, and be careful with all forms of investment, or with people we have just met. besides, this potential can also be reduced when we have a good antivirus. well, these are small steps that we can take to reduce that.
