1 year ago i started my special type of scraper who had possibility(and still does) to collect users that are interested in Crypto. It started harvesting members on various type of platforms. Recently i merged all data and found out i am in possession of 450,000 people who are interested in Crypto in some way. I have possibility of messaging all of them directly which means i can send them any message i want.

I am wondering, how can i possibly monetize this data? Is this valuable or it is completely useless?

Whatever you have collected email id or social profiles etc with the help of your tool, that doesn't matter in regards to your will.
The thing matter is that, have you taken permission from those 450k peoples that you will send promotional offers, etc (whatever the way you want to monetize)?

It does sound like it works across various platforms, not just email. It is definitely a spam tool, this is basically targeted advertising.

My opinion is that this probably has value somewhere in the dark net, but i don't think this service could be offered on this forum. That being said, there is nothing original about this, there are lots of harvesters roaming the net.

Of course he doesn't have their permission, how is a spammer going to ask in the first place?, Using "the tool" to ask them if they opt in(out)? The very question is spam in itself... While he might not be a spammer, his potential clients would certainly be.

That's why I asked him for the permission thing. I know he can't answer that.
If he does not have permission then he doesn't have the right to send emails/msgs to anyone, no matter how he collected the emails or profiles etc... that'd be pure spam.

Selling this data is an illegal thing, and I encourage Op not to sell it instead dump it permanently.

Data is very basic for creation of information and knowledge.
Even without selling this data to anybody , if you able to analyze the data and find some trends that nobody knows. You can use this information for creating some valuable service or positioning your services on that segment or simply sell the information without actually selling the data.

Any type of online marketing, including ads can be treated as a spam. What i had on my mind is just sub segment of direct marketing. I thought about messaging all the people at first with some basic conversation and then just tell them 'Hey, there is new coin out, do you mind checking it out?' and if person would respond 'Yes' i would then send him the link. Of course all of this would be automated and is easily manageable even with this number of users i have.

If he git it without their permission (or the owner publicly post it online), I still think he doesn't have the right to use the data for whatever reason. Anyway, there's nobody who would know that OP is the one who sells/use their data so even if we debate ethics here he might just shrug it off and use the data for his own benefits.

Basically the data i got is free and anyone can harvest it. They are just users which my tool observed what they did and just remembered them. The data is completely public.

This can be of use yes, however there are already a lot of people out there doing this. You can find these promoters everywhere, with ranges of pricing. The fact of the matter is most crypto users or airdrop hunters are usually using multiple dummy accounts email, etc, so only probably 20% of what you have scraped would be reached. Its up to you what you get out of it.

You only have ways to contact them, but do you know who they are?
Do you know the country of origin, income, if they already invest in cryptos, if they have companies related to this etc?

You could have 1/100 of these emails, they would be much more valuable if they had data about these people. You can find thousands of emails and social contacts just by searching through the user lists of various leaked exchanges. These emails are constantly being used for spam.

You will have greater and better chances if you have more information about these users.

I'd like to know how they landed in your hands, people should have consent first if you are going to send them offers, they must opt-in or subscribe to your newsletter first before you can send him anything, if you are going to send mass email with the same topic, there's a big chance or possibility that your email will be ban and marked as spam email

If I were one of those users, I'd probably ignore your message regardless of what kind of thing you write here or what you promote here. I personally tend to stay away from direct marketing like those and probably would only take a look at ads that are posted on CMC, Etherscan or something similar. At least they don't collect my data first.

Guys, are you reading my posts by any chance? This has nothing to do with e-mail marketing but rather platforms which are not saturated regardings spam. All these people i currently have in possession are active members and were in some way connected to crypto (either investing, or having 'deeper' conversation about them). Direct marketing works perfectly, the only question is how you approach to users. Please read my post entirely before commentating again. I wouldn't go straight off with offer but rather let my automation systems talk to them first.

It's both valuable and useless depending on who is going to use your tool, if a spammer who wants to victimize people who are not very familiar in a legit campaign, then this is a powerful tool, but on a legit project it's useless, they will not do something that will harm their reputation of their company, like their email being flagged as a spam emails.

You can use the data for online marketing but that of course means you are spamming them. In case you want to take the risks, that all depends on you. Sure, there are many scammers online and many of them are making good money. The problem is that you can be subject of a complaint and the law can actually be against you. You can also sell the data but that is also illegal. Is there a way to deal with this data legally? Well, I can't answer that. All I can say is that you decide it on your own on what to do with it. You can also be a part of a forum with a focus on the same topic.

Speaking as a Marketer, the list has value for sure, but the value would be dependent on metrics associated with the list - depending on the channel (I gather its multiple channels? A bit of a mix?) the engagement of the list would be important. If you've never used it and its 'untested' it has less value.

TBH you can already target interest on lots of advertising platforms, including crypto so your pricing would need to be aware of that, and you'd need to know how responsive this group is. As you know the crypto crowd tends to enjoy its privacy so anyone buying or renting this list might find themselves with a new group of enemies rather than a group of customers, especially if these people havent opted in. (by the way a double opt in group would catch a premium.)

I do this stuff for a living, my knee jerk assumption is your list isn't worth as much as you think it is, but I don't know the specifics.

I'm very much curious on what is this tool that you keep on mentioning. And I'll take a guess that the platform that you use for collecting those public profiles is through bitcointalk? It is your choice as a marketer if you would like to ask them politely one by one as long as you don't spam them with whatever you're trying to market. Getting validation from your potential clients sounds good but I hope you will answer on how you actually got it.
