There is this game that I want to play badly. It is an old game and hard to find. Any copies I find on the internet seem infected with malware or they could be false positives since anti virus software tag them as malware.

In any case I dont want to risk it and install potential malware on my system.
I thought about installing the game within a sandox, would that work? Would the game be playable from within the sandbox?

I have no experience with this and would appreciate some help.

The whole point of sandbox is to let you run potentially infected programs without infecting your wider machine, so it should run (provided it is compatible with your modern OS) and your system should be safe.

Having said that, nothing is guaranteed, and if this is the same computer you are using for crypto or other valuable activities, then I wouldn't take the risk. There is some malware out there which can evade sandboxes, and not every sandbox can guarantee it is a 100% secure and isolated. Do you have an old computer or laptop without any personal or valuable information on it you could use instead?

There is no guarantee that malware is very advanced and powerful enough to detect any kind of antivirus and they are not available everywhere because they are always updating with something new. However, in most cases, the game or app becomes much more risky if the game is infected by a virus.
Although many of them are played, you can take a look at the security issues that are entirely up to you.

follow introduction sandbox installation.
