According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Guys that 1200 price was a bubble dont you get it.. media hype + mt gox + silk road shutdown + senate anouncment .BITCOIN itself is NOT a bubble ..but and here is a BIG BUT thats not to say there will not be any price bubbles. And i am afraid that last November was one.. but at each bubble we get a hole new wave of adoption so we may have a another bubble 1600 which settles at a new low of 800 then again and again.. or we may from now on get a agonisingly slow price rise. Who knows.. but its not bad news trust me. FOR some reason people think from 1200 we should just keep rising no wayyyy we need much more adoption and with all these peice of shit altcoins camoflouging the real deal makes it even slower for adoption.

The thing is valuing either Gold or BTC in Fiat is actually a mistake.

This is a very difficult concept to grasp, because most people in the developed world especially, are trained from birth to value their fiat. Hence when they compare the value of anything, they generally refer to it in units of their favorite fiat.

But the reality is that the purchasing power or value of fiat is always changing. It's the precious metals (and if the future proves me right, crypto) that are actually more stable over time. When you look at Gold's value w.r.t. USD or CNY, what you're actually doing is comparing USD or CNY to Gold. And it gets even worse than that.

I unbanned you and issued a year sig ban instead. I'll give you the weekend to reply to PMs then issue a 60 day ban (which is pretty much normal practice for plagiarism cases now).

Not siding with anyone, I believe you made a good decision here.

But aren't we only issuing temporary ban for users that contributes/asset around the forum? Op said he's not that quite active so I am not sure how he contributes around the forum.

Maybe its because of his rank,at that time there were no signature campaigns but still people were posting and helping others so that might reduced his penalty.

I think he had a business on his/her main account so he/she needed to reply to PM's and maybe it's important transactions. Maybe there are messages that are valuable to him/her, giving a temporary ban might help him/her to recover all of this. Rank, activities and the quality of the other posts might be also a basis for giving him/her a temporary ban. I also believed it's a good decision, profiles that prioritize signatures and bounty must not give a temporary ban when they are plagiarizing some contents.

Maybe because he contributed in the past. Contributions do not have to be only recent.
Also, i think it's a much fair punishment given that the account is 5 years old and the plagiarized posts were from 2014

I can agree with your first input but not the second one, violated rule is a violation regardless of when it happened.

I can agree with your first input but not the second one, violated rule is a violation regardless of when it happened.

The fact is that the forum rule #33 about plagiarism was added only in mid-2016.

Based on this, I think that isolated cases of plagiarism which have taken place before November 2016 should be punished by no more than temporary ban.

I guess even the post is before 2016 or after 2016, people deserve the chance unless somebody is totally in capable of writing anything on its own words.  temp ban for 60 days + 1/2 year sig ban is very less as compared to permaban but it looks ok.

If someone caught again then can be permabanned.

If someone caught again then can be permabanned.
There are some facts:
- After receiving reduced sentence: people asked for a little bit more reduced sentence. For example: from one year signature ban reduced to 6-month or less signature ban.
- After having more comfortable ban appeal procedures and more flexible reduced sentences: people asked for more sympathy on plagiarism made after 2016.
I don't offend to any user whom got permanent bans but the fact is the forum has rules & strict punishments on plagiarism that states for long period. They should spend their time to read rules during their first months in the forum. Another thing is even with current approach to solve ban appeals, there are very flexible alternative punishments for each user: from 60-days ban + 1-year signature ban; 60 days ban + 2-years signature ban; or even user whom got reduced sentence with only signature ban or even without signature ban.
The newest case of bill gator, whom got temp ban and signature ban at the beginning (not shown in modlog) is a good example that global mod or admin whom solved that case very carefully at the start. What's happen if bill gator make ban appeal and ask for more reduced sentence?

I believe that admins and global moderators consider very carefully before giving reduced sentence for each ban appeal, so I don't think they should ask for more.
