I would mine using the gear I have.
I won't be buying gear at current prices.

Here is the funny thing 23k is about right price for mining profits of BTC.

100 th earns 100 x .1612 = 16.12usd

if it is 40 watts a th it is 4kwatts x 24 = 96 say 100 kwatts a day at 6 cent power that is 6 bucks a day

so 16-6 = 10 dollars a day at 6 six cents

8  dollars at 8 cents 312 days to roi
9  dollars at 7 cents 277 days to roi
10 dollars at 6 cents 250 days to roi
11 dollars at 5 cents 227 days to roi
12 dollars at 4 cents 208 days to roi
13 dollars at 3 cents 192 days to roi
14 dollars at 2 cents 178 days to roi

if you have 2 s17s. they cost about 1250each  or 2500

2500/14 = 178 to break even at 2 cent power

the numbers above are reasonable numbers for asic mining of btc.

Now eth with gpus.

say a small 75mh rig for 825

75 x 4.07 cents = 3.05 a day pulls 285 watts or 7kwatts

3.05- 1.05 = 2 bucks at 15 cent power

2.00 at 15 cents 412 days to roi
2.07 at 14 cents 398 days to roi
2.14 at 13 cents 385 days to roi
2.21 at 12 cents 373 days to roi
2.28 at 11 cents 361 days to roi
2.35 at 10 cents 349 days to roi
2.42 at  9 cents  342
2.49 at  8 cents. 331
2.56 at  7 cents. 322
2.63 at. 6 cents. 313
2.70 at  5 cents. 305
2.77 at. 4 cents. 297
2.84 at. 3 cents  290
2.91 at  2 cents. 283

at first glance asics look quicker to roi, but they are loud they are hot they need 240 volts. they have shit warranties they have poor  resale or spotty resale

gpus 2 or 3 years warranties transferable
quiet
better resale

I have blended my mining for years doing gpus and asics.  I also resell a lot of my gear. So I do not clock the shit out of them.

Right now I see upside for eth it is not close to its all-time high of 1200 or so.

BTC is getting close to the July 2019 level of profit if you factor in:

the diff
the 1/2ing
more efficient gear
price

we could not hold the July 2019 price of 13k I think if we push to 28-30k we won't hold it.

Eth looks like a better play.  BTW fuck eth I don't like it. I dump all my eth to cash and btc. But it looks better on paper at this moment in time than btc.

https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate.

Hashrate watch this it is at 281th

If it spikes like mad to 325 or 330th it means a shit-ton of eth asics went on line.

It is why I do not like eth. I feel they could fuck with asics and they do not.

keep in mind, over 140000 btc was released on 15.12.20 ,after the Mt. Gox Exchange Scam from 2014. So you can believe, many of this coins will be sold i think, because this coins was frozen from 2014.
This can dump the market. I think we go under 18000$ in january.

No it was not released. It was a submitted draft waiting for approval. Since its a draft there still might be changes before the final document. When that is approved they might have an estimated date of when the rehabilitation might start.

Its been what? 7 years or so. I think it will be another year or so before people get their bitcoins. Honestly I think that MtGox hack was a blessing in disguise. Most people would of sold either at $1000 back in late 2013, or they would of sold at $200 in 2015. But now they are forced to hodl and might be worth $100K per BTC by the time they get it sent to their wallet.

This is the part where your mining proceeds will build you more rigs if you are not maxed out yet hehe

1eth = 1gpu .. Now what do you want? 1eth = a 6800xt a 6900xt a 3080 or a 3090?

Just like the old days when 1btc = 1gpu....sad to say LOL.

During a time when 1 BTC = 1 GPU, it wasn't possible to mine BTC anymore with GPUs. Average GPU price was $200 back in 2011 or 2012 when people still GPU mined. And the highest price back then was $30 if I recall. So At best 1 GPU = 6 BTC or so.

Here is an interesting observation. Did you know that the very first block halving block was mined with a GPU? It was a Radeon 5800. Later that GPU was sold and someone is keeping it in their bitcoin mining museum. The guy that found the halving block, which was 210,000 had a nickname called "LaughingBear". Which is ironic because if he really was a bear he would be a frustrated one since that block was found, BTC kept going up and up.

The 1 btc = 1 gpu days i was talking about was when eth is gaining value, more like eth to btc to gpu.

Hi guys,

Haven't been here for a while since the prices dropped and electricity costs were high in my country I've stopped the rigs. I always relied on the advices from citronick and philipma1957 which helped me a lot on my mining  Smiley
I still have 1 rig of 1080Ti, 1 rig of 1060 and 1 rig of RX570.

Any idea or suggestion on what I should start them? Or only the 1080Ti is the profitable one here?
I was using in the past Simplemining and it was working very well for my rigs.

Thank you for your time and answers Smiley Cheers!

point them to nicehash mine eth on all three and see what nicehash says they pay you.

I am pretty sure they profit at 25cents a kwatt

not so sure what they do at 35cents a kwatt

a 1080ti set to lower power like I do does 160mh at 700 watts

160 x 0.04 = 6.40 usd a day. .7 x 24 = 17 kwatts I round up. .17 x 30 = 5.10 usd in power

6.40-5.10 = 1.30 usd a day profit.  money = money so why not mine.  Or consider selling the 1080ti's. you will get top dollar for them.

Thank you for your answer. In my country it's 17,5cents a kwatt, but back in 2018 it was 10 cents Smiley
So based on your recommendations I should point (at least 1080ti rig) towards nicehash and see a few days what's the revenue. What miner to use for nvidia mining to eth? Ethminer, right? And for ATI what is the best option now since Claymore dropped his support?

I'm thinking of selling the 1060 rig...

For me T-rex is working quite nice with 1080ti. I use OC +125 core, +600 Memory with PL 210W
command line for smos: -a ethash -o eu1.ethpool.org:3333 -u [address] -w $rigName --kernel 0 --mt 6
With these settings I get 49-50 Mh/s ETH mining.

Question for Phil or others mining ETH with 5600XT's on SMOS...

What settings are your using for non-BIOS-modded cards?

For my 5700XT rig, I am using the following:

- Core MHz: 1300
- Memory MHz: 900
- Memory UV (MVDD): 1300
- Memory UV (MVDDCI): 800
- Aggressive undervolt: On
- Power Stage:  5

Is this config also recommended for 5600XT?  Or, should i tweak a few of these parameters?

(btw, my old username was GabryRox and i had a good history on these threads. but that acct was hacked a few months back so i had to create this new acct)

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Thanks Phil! I appreciate the suggestions and the merit!  it's pretty frustrating to be forced to start with a fresh account, but all things considered, this forum was probably one of the least damageable as far as hacked accounts go.  btw... those MSI 470's you sold me back in the day are still running solidly! Although only for a few more days since that's the rig i am converting to 5600XT, but they more than earned their keep :-)

Hey guys, my 3070 arrived yesterday and it's already running here

I bought this model:

Asus with dual bios, and only 2 fans

I liked this card, 61.5Mhs with power consumption of 135w exactly from the wall and 3 year warranty
Only 10% more expensive of 3060ti but it's easier to find here, and I think it will be better to sell after some years

I can reach 63mhs but the power I have to add, doesn't worth

Phil, are you still hashing on ViaBTC or did you switch back to NiceHash? I'm curious if NiceHash is more stable than it was a few weeks back.

This is the part where your mining proceeds will build you more rigs if you are not maxed out yet hehe

1eth = 1gpu .. Now what do you want? 1eth = a 6800xt a 6900xt a 3080 or a 3090?

Just like the old days when 1btc = 1gpu....sad to say LOL.

I ordered a power color 5700 xt for 409 usd with tax included.

it came yesterday. 50th for 409 and it is mining as i type.

I am just at 1900mh not that bad.

I just setup my old Vega rig - recently moved and this morning I ordered 2 Powercolor 5700 XT at $429 each.  Maxing out my rig that can only handle 6 cards.  My Vega 64's are doing 50.3 each.
