Yes, that is absolutely a great idea.
It doesn't matter if maybe they don't know much about bitcoin.
You can explain to them what is bitcoin and tell them not to sell if bitcoin price does not touch more than $20k or more.
But it will better if you can buy them hardware like Ledger to save the bitcoin.

Hello everybody!
I would like to give to my parents about 0.3 bitcoin hoping that in a few years the price will increase a lot.
Is it a nice idea for a present?

Thanks for any tips!  Smiley

It would be better if you would also teach them how to trade so they would know how to get more than just what you give.
You know what they say give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
It is great that you would give them BTC but you should also teach them about crypto stuff so they would know how to use it,
And besides there are so many scammers and hackers out there so you should also teach them how to avoid it and how to keep their crypto safe.

your parents know that it is bitcoin and cryptocurrency ?, because maybe they do not appreciate the gift because of ignorance. For example, my parents have no idea what it is, they only know the money paper and for more than I explain they do not understand.

Thank you everyone for all the answers!
My parents aren't very technological, but know about bitcoin after I've explained to them.
They are middle-aged (55-60 years old), about to retire during this year.

I wanted this to be a gift and encourage them to learn about cryptocurrency since they will have lots of free time.
I was thinking to keep a copy of the private key holding the coins or gift them a hardware wallet.

That is a huge amount but I think every parents deserve to be spoiled since they work so hard to raise us,
It is a great gift for all of their sacrifice but they should know how to use it or it would just be wasted or the worst is be hack,
And the hackers would be the one who would use the money instead of your parents so you should also guide them .

I've given Bitcoin as a gift to family members but they were already VERY interested and knowledgeable - and very aware of any scams they may encounter.

Wow it is good that you will give bitcoins as gift to your parents. You will teach them on hiw does bitcoin works and give them a opportunity to enter to the bitcoin. We know our parents because they become older so I think bitcoin is perfect for them because you do not need a strong body here only need time and effort to earn money.

yes, this is nice idea but your parents should know how to handle bitcoin, then give to them, otherwise you hold it and when it price will increase, that time you buy any gift for them and give it,this is my suggestion.

It's a good idea.
But I won't encourage you to put your trust in it, as something you didn't prepare for could go wrong...
There is no guarantee of success just as investing in any other business like stock offer no guarantee of success.

I will still encourage you to invest. But It is best to invest  when price has hit the bottom.

If your parents are some of those modern people that use smarphtones and interest everyday and have the power to understand what bitcoin is and how it works and it's okay to give them bitcoin as a gift. But keep in mind you should teach the the basis about bitcoin to make sure they don't get scammed and lose their bitcoin by trying to exchange them on some kind of scam website.

I've given Bitcoin as a gift to family members but they were already VERY interested and knowledgeable - and very aware of any scams they may encounter.

I think giving money/giftcards/bitcoin as a gift is kind of a cop out and shows very little thought behind your gift.  Always prefer to give something from my heart that I know people will really cherish.

As I said, though - they were already very interested in Bitcoin and in every instance my gift was very appreciated and to this day brought-up as they've furthered their holdings and love for Bitcoin. Now as far as cash and gift cards, I agree with you and refrain from giving those as gifts unless the odd person just loves getting cash in lieu of presents.

Hello friend, in fact it is a great idea, of course yes, in a few years it will increase a lot, of that you have no doubt and it has its explanation based on the market criteria, since right now we are in a phase of accumulation, that is, this is the stage where it is cheaper to acquire bitcoins, because it is when you start to eliminate the floating offer that may exist in the market, this is reflected in the level of prices at which bitcoin is sold.

Maybe some years the bitcoin takes its bullish trend, this will be profitable because bitcoin will have a very high growth, it is foreseen this since in almost all the stages of market acuamulation is fulfilled, and this stage promises a lot, because we have a wide range of accumulation ranging from $ 5k to $ 10k, of course, this can be explained by Wyckoff's theory, which is what I base my analysis, but having a clear and fixed point of it, your idea is very good .

Stefy0, it a good decision you have made and if your parents can hold this amount for long term there is no way it is not going to turn into huge fortune for them. How I wish my dad is alive to do the same thing for him! It is better to buy the future for them as I do believe that bitcoin is going to decide what happens to us financially in future.

I know the intention is good, but don't ever give bitcoin to anyone who doesn't understand it.  The chances of it never being touched are high.   My advice is, you hold the .3 for them, being someone who understands this technology and in the future when bitcoin and cryptos are more widely accepted you can show them then, how to spend it.   No need to lead them into an investment mentality with this, investments are not spendable, bitcoin is.

100 percent correct advice, giving bitcoin to the.person did.not know how all about computerized system money.

Good ideas giving to the.parent bitcoin for.the safe keeping but need.to make sure the security of your bitcoin.

No. I think is not a good idea. Because your parents probably do not know the knowledge about bitcoin, so they could do not like the gift.

I am recommending this same idea as this can more practical as we know that older people can have a hard time understanding cryptocurrency (though there are exemptions, of course). The same thing goes to parents who desire to gift their young ones with bitcoin...it would be better if they themselves are the ones holding the coin so it is safe and secured. The idea of gifting our loved ones with bitcoin or any crypto for that matter is something I do appreciate.

Of course, it is a great gift as long as they know what is Bitcoin how it works and how to trade it in the future, don't confuse your parents by giving them something that they do not know and have no knowledge about, educate them first, before giving it to them they will appreciate you for doing this to them..
