I was banned on the 9th of May “probably due to spam or plagiarism”.
Today, when I finally managed to deal with my emotions, I have decided to ask, what was the actual reason for making the account permanently banned?

Moderators replied on almost all of ban appeal thread and reply the reason of ban. But wondering why moderators are silent on "tvplus006" case. At least we could see the plagiarism post that OP got ban for. We can't judge before know the mistakes. So we want to know what was the post/mistake ?

I don't know what it's for as there's no handled reports in the queue but I'm guessing it was probably for plagiarism.

I have been banned for over a month and, thus, cannot proceed with doing useful work for the forum, by revealing scams.

When making a final decision on my case, please take into consideration my attempts of fighting spam: 500 reports were sent to the moderator, only 9 of which were not accurate. And also my contribution to scams fight among ICO on our forum.
I am asking to unblock my account without any terms.

Changing a few words around doesn't matter. If we find that you plagiarized, then you absolutely will be permanently banned, even if we find it years after you did it.
Multi-posting: Do not post twice in a row in a topic. Instead, edit your old post.
Low-content posts: Do not post low-content garbage like "agreed!", "nice project!", etc. You can be banned for this, and it's also pointless if you want to increase your rank, since you will never get merit for such posts.

Nah, it would not. Another thread generated by community,  not by (OP) banned user. Forum allow you to create a thread by supporting a person if you think that any person deserve unban or temp ban.

If you think that a ban should be ended, make your case in a new topic from a "good for the forum as a whole" perspective.

That means you are allow to open a thread which will not consider ban evasion.

However, I am still curious to know the reason of ban. What was the exact post that OP got ban. Hope moderators will let us know.

Although OP were banned for valid reason, I think he deserve second chance by considering his contribution for forum. Signature & temp ban would be appropriate.

I think it's better if he created his own appeal. This would show that he cares about his banned account and the community rather than let other people create for him an appeal.

I am not getting why tvplus006 should be ban for this. Seems he is the original writer. Luckily someone replied with quote of full thread. So even post has been edited on November 03, 2018 the original quote of post made on April 21, 2018. But post made by "Harris Pay" on May 04, 2018. So the plagiarizer is Harris Pay. So this isn't reason why OP got ban.

I am really disappointed about OP case. Its unexpected that we will not get answer why OP got ban for which post or any other reason. Lot of worst member of this forum got ban and getting their answere as well the reason of ban. But we still don't know the reason of ban for OP who is consider as a assets of forum.

I don't like to create any post really. But as a forum member I have right to ask why a good contributor got ban and its excusable or not.

I will be happy if any moderators or admin check the profile what is the exact reason of ban.

I think the next step for your ban appeal is probably admitting that you did plagiarized a content and how sorry you are for that mistake. After that your ban appeal must contain how you have contributed in the forum when you were still an active member. The appeal really still depends on what theymos thinks about the case so you aren't really losing anything for trying.

.. that's almost impossible to determine. You'd have to scan the whole post history and even then - if you don't find plagiarism it doesn't mean there wasn't any. All that effort for trying to justify one ban. As opposed to scanning the same number of posts in a shitcoin thread and banning the whole farm.

I think with the options that global mods currently have (temp/sig bans) it's not so much of an issue anymore.

If it would be a regular problem for him, then it could be so, but one time for 1803 posts copied answer of bounty manager to answer another user is not plagiarism at all. If we ask for more attributive quoting, well, it could be mistake of not enough attribution. Mistake, but not a crime, not a plagiarism. All — my IMHO.

NO, it has been discussed on other thread. As I mentioned there it might happen by mistake or due to lazy behaviour.

I know of one case where someone was banned for plagiarism in the recent massacre, but a very careful reading of the context showed that the person actually did just forget to quote, and by "quoting" the post they were expressing an actual point even if it constituted their entire post. This person was unbanned without any sigban, since this isn't plagiarism.

It is very clear that OP was just tried to help someone else. That's the reason why I am much curious to know why OP got banned. If only reason that mentioned by suchmoon then OP likely deserve unban without conditions according to admin.

Yes, they can. Don't it look exactely like they are doing it just to add number of posts to their activity? Isn't it systematic in their case? If everyone can see the difference between the situations, why should we penalise a good one person just not to give an opportunity to use that example for bad ones, when there is nearly nothing in common? Occasional mistake in attribution in quoting is not the same as systematic copypasting to get activity.

Or a very good JavaScript developer who knows how to use the ES6 style syntax eloquently. There could be a few places where spread operator could do wonders but regardless, they write better code than most of the JS-based extenstions related to bitcointalk I've seen.

However, I am also thinking after checking your profile that you are one of quality poster OP and was able to manage reaching in that rank by earning merits and not from airdrop. Thus, it could be consider by the admins or forum moderator that it is possible to lift the ban from permanent to temporary ban like having a signature wearing ban for 1-2 years. It would not be a bad punishment since OP has been violating one of the rules which plagiarism is one of the grievous fault.

I believe that is the mistake theymos was talking about:

I say very seldom, if he was banned for what SM quoted then it's certainly unfair, he was simply re-announcing something from the OP's posts, it is pretty clear that he was not passing it as his own work, SM or anybody else should report such posts, but it's the mod's job to take these things case by case and even if they make a "mistake" they should be able to correct it.

I don't pretend to know how SMF mod panel works but what if there was another msg reported, it was then deleted (hence no longer visible/in the queue)?

Usually there are 5, 10, 15, 20 even more copied posts.

Here there is one instance  which is gray and or subject to interpretation as to whether it was plagiarism.

Since intent is not clear that he was plagiarizing.

When you look at the over all quality of his posting and you look at the one in question it simply looks like he
was repeating rules to a question.

Thus the ban looks like it is more likely in retaliation for his scam work.

I think it is not true, but it does give that appearance.

I support an unban for tvplus006, I too got a temp-ban for my mistake and I have been bearing it from 2 months, which ended just yesterday.

I think as if I am deserving for a temp ban, tvplus006 is more eligible and deserving for a temp ban than me, he has even reported more fake projects than me anyways. He is overall more good to the community than bad, and anyone with small amount of functioning brain cells could see the same.

I think a fair decision should be made here by administration ASAP.

Bad luck, no one responding here on this thread or PM. Likely I will bother to create new thread for theymos in order to draw attention. I can't see any other way to resolve OP issue. Community have right to know why OP has been got ban. But unfortunately we didn't got it officially.

I know of another account that was banned this year, and that took 3 months to get eventually un-banned, so to be honest it might just take another couple of months before it happens... noise or no noise. I assume there is a backlog of unban requests at the moment after the wave of bans that happened recently.
Stay positive and remain patient would be my advise.

Meh, tvplus just was answering a noob's question and parroted what the OP had answered to another user. I think the intent was to be helpful rather than upping their post count for financial gain.

It is very clear that OP was just tried to help someone else. That's the reason why I am much curious to know why OP got banned. If only reason that mentioned by suchmoon then OP likely deserve unban without conditions according to admin.

It's almost two months since this thread was created. I doubt this case hasn't been discussed by admin/mods already. I'm also wondering why the reason for the permanent ban has not been disclosed. As said above ^.^ , it may be because of your approach to the ban account that's causing the delay in the unbanment, I would suggest you go through your replies on this thread and check for yourself; your actions towards others reactions if there is any you can figure out. Politeness and humility makes things work out fine and credibly.

I, like tvplus, got a ban two months ago. And to me, our administration indicated the reason for the ban. I am very sorry for what happened. I had time to realize my mistakes and in the future, it will never happen again.
We worked on identifying scam projects with tvplus in the team. And the forum for us is not  a way of making money but to some extent, the forum has become a part of our life.
There are so many participants who do not understand the full value of the forum itself, but not in the case of tvplus. You just look at the many banned members, they left .....
tvplus wants to be useful to the forum, he does not want to leave, does not want to deceive anyone by creating another account for himself. I, as a person who survived all the troubles of punishment, can say that there will never be any violations on our part.

It was an exact copy/paste of the post of another user.
You didn't forget to quote it properly, you didn't express any opinion. You simply just copy/pasted it.

I know of one case where someone was banned for plagiarism in the recent massacre, but a very careful reading of the context showed that the person actually did just forget to quote, and by "quoting" the post they were expressing an actual point even if it constituted their entire post. This person was unbanned without any sigban, since this isn't plagiarism.

Looking at it from a mod's perspective, I don't actually see a reason to unban you.

To punish good users for good behaviour to prevent bad users from saying that they do the same? Well, most times moderator can see, which case is it in exact situation. If it is not clear, I prefer to give another chance to several intruders till they make an obvious mistake than to ban permanently even one good guy. Noone said any bad word about OP in this topic, so #freetvplus006.

Yes, I wish a global moderator would comment on why tvplus006 has been overlooked for a temporary ban. I think he was definitely a net positive. Now I see many people that got the temp ban have had their temp ban expire and are posting now. tvplus006 have had several members requesting he get his ban removed. I hope a global moderator or administrator considers out pleas.

I'm happy to not issue another sig ban at all and just leave accounts banned forever if you think that would be more fair. Several factors are involved with issuing them but there's no set criteria and every mod may have different reasoning.

I have not even considered the post as plagiarism. It may be seen that I have tried to help one of the participants by incorrectly quoting one of bounty manager’s post, which was very big. I was inexperienced, as up to that point I have only been on forum for 2 month, that is why I did not know, that you could simply delete unnecessary information from the quoted text. You can follow the link to see where the fragment came from and indeed it is placed in the same bounty  topic.
It is not about payment since signatures from bounty posts are not included in the campaigns. It is clearly seen, that my aim was to help one to find an answer to the question.

Meh, tvplus just was answering a noob's question and parroted what the OP had answered to another user. I think the intent was to be helpful rather than upping their post count for financial gain.

It is very clear that OP was just tried to help someone else. That's the reason why I am much curious to know why OP got banned. If only reason that mentioned by suchmoon then OP likely deserve unban without conditions according to admin.

There's no evidence to suggest that. Sometimes you can tell when someone's just accidentally fucked up a quote. I PMd theymos to see if he has an archive of the reports against you.

Let's just agree to disagree, sure I can understand that it's hard work to expose 60+ scams, but I agree with hilariousandco when he says that it's just a clear case of plagiarism.
Besides, I'm sure I'll get a lot of flak for saying this, I do not actually hold the opinion that most scam busting is all that useful.

Hear me out, it's basically trying to empty the ocean with a thimble.
I think it's much more valuable to educate people to not fall for these scams in the first place, than it is to try and "bust" every individual scam.
Sure, you might prevent some people from losing their money, but most of those people who were already thinking of spending money on a questionable service, would probably just do it again when there's no-one around to stop them.

Now I do concede that it's a very good thing to point out the more elaborate scam attempts, especially when a fair bit of research is involved.
Just not when it's all painfully obvious. So, is OP a net positive contributor on Bitcointalk? For me, the scam busting doesn't automatically mean he is, but that's just my opinion.

One last thing that really baffles me, it takes more time to copy paste that message than to just quote it and add a couple of words yourself.
I mean someone who's been on this forum for so long as OP should really know better. I don't believe in "forgetting" to quote, copy/pasting is such a deliberate action in most cases that it's not hard to avoid doing.
