THAT'S A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT!!!  I worked at a data center for AT&T.  There is no such thing as a disc failure!

There are multiple redundant failover systems.  If something went down no one except the I.T people would know it.  THEY ARE LYING!!!!

No disrespect intended.  I am just saying we see this same behavior from every site that has been hacked in the past.  First, they say there was an error, then they say the coins are safe, then they announce the hack and say everyone will be refunded, then after we are fucked!

It's just a sudden System Maintenance. at this state even something like this happened in the big exchange like Binance, then i think you should be calm.
I'm sure they already prevent the on-going activities of the market.

Of course it's bullshit, everything to do with Binance is bullshit.

The "System Maintenance Notice" was posted on their website and Twitter ~30 minutes AFTER they went down.

System Maintenance Notice
Binance
Dear Fellow Binancians,

Binance will perform a temporary system maintenance starting at 2019/06/07 20:00 (UTC). The maintenance will take approximately 3 hours.

Binance will suspend deposits, withdrawals, and trading during this period. Deposits that are not completed before the start of the maintenance will be processed after the completion of the maintenance. Please allow some time for deposits to show up in your account after the system maintenance.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience!

Please note: The 3 hours is our best estimation and may vary. As usual, we will maintain regular communication on the progress of the maintenance on our various social media channels.

Thank you for your support!

Only the people of Binance really know what can be the score on this matter all we can do is speculate and maybe analyze. They can easily cover the truth if they want to and all users got no choice but to believe them. I am still a loyal fan of Binance though. By the way since it seems you don't love Binance, what is your preferred crypto exchange?

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt, especially since it wasn't during a rise or crash.

It definitely doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside though. I almost had a heart attack when they went offline today. Sad

It's just a sudden System Maintenance.

Sudden maintenance is never a good sign. It's usually the first thing an exchange does when they discover a compromise.

They haven't announce a bad news yet, so there is nothing to worry, if they are hack again, that would again be a problem as long as it's still covered by SAFU funds.

system maintenance yeah right! After holding it's customers funds hostage all in the name of a disk failure, come on..BN needs to invest more in backup data storage to avoid any possible data losses because should this ever happen no one will buy this.

For goodness sakes this exchange is still considered the best of the best and right now they need  to reassure their customers that this won't happen  Roll Eyes

Binance is acting very strange lately. First of they got hacked which we really not now how that happened.

And now this.

After hack, i withdraw my everything to my wallet, besides my bnb (let's face it, if binance fails, tokens would have no value even i still hold them). So if that happens my loss would be minimal. I don't want to fud but binance is not making me secure anymore. And if mtgox 2.0 happens, i want to stay safe.

I don't think we really know the full story and we may never really know.  But the issue is about respecting your customer base.

We are not stupid.  Crypto traders and miners are some of the smartest people in the world.

Unless the disc failure was caused by an intruder or deactivated by an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) there was no reason for the site to be shut down like that.

People lose money when shit like that happens.  If people believe you are lying they may panic.

It still doesn't explain "disc failure".  What, are they running the website on a 486?  Cry
The best thing to do right now is to avoid the site altogether as none of the sites that got hacked in the past sustained for a longer period of time and they will come up with reason after reason and only when everyone is hit on a major scale do we know that we are fucked off our funds and then the waiting period to get our own funds is another hurdle we have to overcome, to save all those issues just wait for some time until they run smoothly for sometime and prove that they are fine and doing well and then we can trust them again with our coins.

Usually bad things are not announced and that is the thing we have seen in the entire market right back from the MtGox where they announce nothing to worry and everything is under control and these dialogues are nothing new and we had enough of these hacks and i am really tired of these, how long they will cover with the SAFU funds, what happens if all the wallets gets compromised and now they just lost around $64 million which is not even a small amount even you are a billionaire and how much more they can loose and how big is their SAFU  Roll Eyes.
CZ was even having a crazy idea of roll back when that hack happened even though he was playing calm in social media and that sums up the real situation.
Avoid them for a year and if they work fine after that period then i will deposit my coins in that exchange. There are other plenty of exchanges to take such chances.

I hope binance continues to get stronger and stronger and nothing pulls it to its kneel. They have contributed their best to the development of this space. Although I will love to see bitsdaq as a major competitor in the future and other upcoming good exchanges. SAFU

And just which exchange do you suggest using for trading with a mass volume and no KYC?
is one of the few if not the only one that allows us to do a great trading without kyc, obviously is my favorite, I hope they will solve this problem of disc failure soon it doesn't seem a serious thing to me

I have already the same thoughts too after that hacking incident which even if they do able to sort it out on compensate the lost of funds with their SAFU but it doesnt completely removed my doubts on trusting up again this exchange and now they experience downtime on just a single disk issue? How in the world would think out that one of the biggest exchange been taking down by a single one?Sounds very shady on my part.
