What are some of the absolute basics needed to master to be solid blockchain developer? Currently a Javascript front and back developer, have around 2 years of solid basics on a normal software cycle and ecosystem. One of my dream job is working in a crypto-focused exchange/product company

I'm current studying general idea about blockchains, BTC, coding some sample sandbox smart contract of ICON and ETH. Is there any constructive way be mentored to upgrade these skills to a production level kind of developer? Or any communities to seek on to be mentored? The reason asking these is i'm not too good enough at forking public projects, yet wanted to try doing some serious research/coding which i'm have no idea where to start other than looking simplify tutorials

There are good sources to look at like the bitcoin wiki and the technical details of other coins..

You may want to know what you want to specialise in? Is it smart contracts, blockchain building, other second layer solutions?
The best way to test interviewees is probably by giving them a test for things like what a block must have to be valid and so on... (like the timestamp, hash, Merkel root, height, coinbase, compatibility - in bitcoin for example)...

One of my dream job is working in a crypto-focused exchange/product company

i don't think you need to be a blockchain developer/expert to get that kind of job because that is not the most important part of an exchange for instance. you should focus on security and the front end instead of knowing how blockchain and each coin works.

If you like to get a job as blockchain developer, not only focus in cryptocurrencies, I recommend you to learn golang, since business blockchains are usually based in Hyperledger projects. It would be also helpful to get a few certifications, there is a good one in edx from The Linux Foundation, you can learn a lot about blockchain in it.

Blockchain for Business Professional Certificate.

To be solid in the skill that you are focusing with, you need experience. Take some of those courses that were suggested and then apply it by looking for those openings that's applicable to your skill so that you can enhance it.

Since it's your dream job to work to a crypto focus company or an exchange to be specific, you can look to the openings of those popular exchange like coinbase[1].

There is no formal training here in the making of blockchains but there are experts in ICT that enables them to create blockchain. I have read a while ago that some experts are giving educational trainings, seminars in the related cryptocurrency technical aspects. Though I am.not an IT but seeing IT doing their programming job makes me think that an IT with formal experience can do cryptocurrency technical aspects. Since they can relate their IT job to crypticurrency IT technical aspects.
