What do you need to become a validator?
Basically, here are the minimum requirements for being a validator: - have 32 ETH, - run validator node 24⁄7 (this can be your PC, remote server, Raspberry Pi or similar) with Internet connection, - have access to beacon node.

Hardware requirements for running the node will be better determined during testnet activities. For the validator client only something like Raspberry Pi will be enough but in case you are running your Beacon node, you’ll need a more powerful CPU and storage space.

Keep in mind that your uptime and therefore an Internet connection are the most important things as your stake gets slashed if you are offline, meaning that you are losing your money.

If you are referring to master node runner you should build a better PC than what you have, more storage space and better ram and CPU to avoid any hiccups, go for 16gig ram and terabyte hard disk and a more snappier CPU with multi thread

If you are referring to master node runner you should build a better PC than what you have, more storage space and better ram and CPU to avoid any hiccups, go for 16gig ram and terabyte hard disk and a more snappier CPU with multi thread

I second this.
Vitalik may say an average computer would be enough but still you need to have a better specs if you're doing this. I'm not an expert on this area but usually updates may require your PC to be upgraded too so if it's already on the go and you're already a validator, don't wait for future updates that will cause you time and effort for upgrading to be compatible being one.

This is great news, thank you for sharing and bringing clarification to the forum. I was also considering the possibility of staking, but I once read that staking ethereum would be a minimum of 20 ethereum and I consider it to be very expensive especially for low income earners.

This is great news, thank you for sharing and bringing clarification to the forum. I was also considering the possibility of staking, but I once read that staking ethereum would be a minimum of 20 ethereum and I consider it to be very expensive especially for low income earners.

The last time I heard, the minimum is not 20 ETH but 32 ETH. I am not updated in the last minute of there are any changes to the amount of ETH required to be able to participate in the staking.

imo you will probably be fine with 2gb ram and a 500gb HDD, it cant be much more expensive to run, as then it would hurt decentralization
tbh tho, most people, like me included likely, will just use trusted pools, exchanges like Binance will probably offer shared staking, same with Coinbase
really its just wait and see tho, 2020 SHOULD hopefully give us some hard numbers on what to expect in that area (hopefully)
