I have to start with some background information first to explain this. About a year ago, we held a open day for "newbies" at our local Bitcoin meetup and we encouraged members to bring "newbies" to the meetup for a introduction session on what Bitcoin is and how to buy your first bitcoins.

During this event, older members helped newbies to create their first wallets and we showed them how to buy their first coins. We also created a WhatsApp support group for these people to assist them "free of charge" for 3 months to manage and to protect their coins.

I am glad to report that 100% of them held onto those coins and 100% of them made a profit a year later.  Cool We have been getting a flood of gratitude from these people and some of them even managed to pay off their personal debt with the profit they made or paid for their children's tuition fees for their studies.

Yes, a bump in the price is nice, but the smile on someone's face when this technology changed their actual financial position, is priceless.  Wink

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

hopefully you guys aren't just encouraging newbies to "invest" in bitcoin but instead are introducing them to "bitcoin the decentralized currency". otherwise you are just bringing in more speculators in this world which leads to more volatility and postpones the future adoption even more since we need real adoption of bitcoin if we want it to grow, that means adoption as a currency not as an investment so that people can make a ton of "fiat" profit and pay off their debts.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

This is an incredible share @Kakmakr I’m out of merits but this post deserves them, the entire concept of holding meet-ups and guiding people for free is brilliant. What makes me happy is to know you converted newbies into holders, who then managed to make their life better using bitcoins. This is the kind of publicity bitcoin needs, if used properly it can help transform one’s life.

It definitely filled with profit.   If it's filled with other things, fine, but that's nothing to worry about.

We identified the first problem and that is the fear of "new" concepts and technologies and we managed to break that fear by guiding people towards the technology with spoon feeding. This is just step 1 in a whole process to asist people into using and hoarding coins for the future.

Our main goal is for people to follow a 80%/20% split strategy when it comes to their Bitcoin investment, which is the hoarding of 80% of all the coins they buy and spending of 20% of the same coins. Step 2 : Introduce them to the available merchants and how you pay with Bitcoin at these merchants.

We also invite new merchants to the meetups to introduce them to the Bitcoin members in our community and the people who will be spending coins at their outlets, if they start to accept it as a currency.  Wink

It's really great to know that you are actually making a mark in the promotion of bitcoin to the mass! We really need more of this kind of events to clear the confusion from the people's minds. I have personally spoken to lot of my colleagues about bitcoin in the past 2 years but I have noticed that majority of them thinks Bitcoin is a scam! because in my country, Banking sector has started a war against it. They are sending mailers and organizing mass events to spread fake news about bitcoins. I have got few invitations of such even from my bank as well!

Here I want to quote a famous tweet made by CryptoKanoon on 25 May 2019.

Quote
No head
No funding
No employee
No PR agency
No Social media
No advertisement
No board meetings

The only reason which made #bitcoin succesful was the purpose and that was to help people overcome their sufferings.

Do you have "people welfare" in your mission statement?

People welfare is the key here!

A good start for people here to imitate what you do. Maybe there are many people out there who want to know bitcoin but don't have a good mentor to teach them how to work with bitcoin. Sometimes I also teach some of my friends to get to know bitcoin. Maybe all of us here must start new changes in each region, make the bitcoin community, share knowledge, that is done because bitcoin is now really going to be the future.

I don't think speculators are all bad for real adoption. I'm sure speculators still spend here and there, and that's literally infinitely better than nothing. This is completely anecdotal, but a lot of the people I know who are into crypto came for the money and stayed for the technology and ideology. You never know who might stick around, so you might as well give everyone some exposure.

my point was with certain type of people (which OP is not among them based on his explanation) that make some profit with bitcoin and then get hyped up to hype others by advertising bitcoin mostly as a "get rich quick and make a ton of money" kind of thing. in this mindset the goals of bitcoin is overlooked most of  the times and many of those who are introduced to bitcoin like this are going to leave it behind and never come back because they will lose money in fluctuations.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.

Such an amazing and selfless initiative! How I wish lots of similar meet-ups are done all over the world. It would be best for newbies to learn personally from those who have been there earlier. Never mind if it goes an extra mile spoon-feeding them; what they really need after all is a step-by-step guidance.

And I imagine the same meet up in a coffee shop or a bar that accepts Bitcoin. I bet it amazes the newbies more when the bill is actually paid in BTC. That is the most convincing way for them to learn that Bitcoin is not just a sort of an asset but also a real money.

Yes, the meetup is in a big coffee shop and this was one of the conditions of the coffee shop that they start to accept Bitcoin, if we use their coffee shop as a Bitcoin Meetup venue every week. We teach the "newbies" to pay for their coffee and meal with Bitcoin, but most of the time this is a demonstration that are done with our bitcoins that are transferred to their wallets.

We sponsored most of the "starter" coins, but more and more people joined after that and we are not in the business of giving FREE meals and then having people disappear after that, so they pay for their own meals and drinks now and then we refund them with a small donation from the person who introduced them to Bitcoin.  Wink <Not compulsory, but most people do this.>  Grin

Perfect! Two birds with one stone: newbies effectively learning about Bitcoin and a big coffee shop promising to accept Bitcoin as payment. Sweeeet!

Bitcoin will surely help us in a good way if we are going to use if positively, those newbies who have joined are the new investors who believe and profit in the end.

If you believe and you know what you are doing, thanks to your guidance also so they can start without any worries. This is another good happening is crypto world and hoping that more good happenings will happen in the future.

Wink

It truly is a wonderful feeling changing someones life for the better ! =)

This is so nice ✨

I was also introduced to Bitcoin by my friend like yearssss before and thus started posting on forum , Ranked up and it was amazing too see having some personal savings inters of Bitcoins.

I was able to pay my tuition fee ♥️ at the same time , I was able to get a lot of gifts for my family members now and then , it have showed me what joy it is to be independent.

Bitcoins is amazing 💕 we should have a Bitcoin appreciation day Tongue , and I also taught the same thing to all my besties and friends , now even they are engaging in Bitcoins and it's nice to have a group where you have people you know engaging in Bitcoin.

my point was with certain type of people (which OP is not among them based on his explanation) that make some profit with bitcoin and then get hyped up to hype others by advertising bitcoin mostly as a "get rich quick and make a ton of money" kind of thing. in this mindset the goals of bitcoin is overlooked most of  the times and many of those who are introduced to bitcoin like this are going to leave it behind and never come back because they will lose money in fluctuations.
Fair point, but most of these people will rekt themselves eventually, therefore either learn from their mistake and improve, or they will never come back because the experience was too painful.

In both situations we're better off. The first one because we keep the people who are genuinely interested in Bitcoin, and in case of the second option we get rid of people who shouldn't be here.

I started out as get rich quick noob too. I rekt myself at the very beginning and then managed to stop feeling bad and got interested in the technology behind Bitcoin. I needed that to figure out what this space is about.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

Just hope that the same people whom you've helped getting in with bitcoin wouldn't be so greedy in the future, as most people who received quite a hefty sum of profits tend to think that it will always repeat and repeat ad infinitum, and that luck would never leave their side. Anyhow, it's great to know that you're having your own bitcoin meetups in your local. So far, the organizers here in our place held 3 successful conferences and meetups, and would really want to have an update on the newbies that we helped during those conferences.

This, perhaps is a testament to what I've been saying that if bitcoin couldn't solve the world's most complex problems regarding politics, at least it can help tip the scales even just a little bit for those lucky enough to know it early on.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was talking about. Pretty much all the noise you see around social media involves prices one way or another, but you can tell that nearly all of them are also invested in the tech and utility behind it. I don't doubt that there will be people who will buy and just watch until it's time to sell for a loss or a profit, but those same people probably won't be at all interested otherwise anyway.

I do agree that it's misleading to market Bitcoin as a money making scheme though, to be fair. I just think it could still lead to positive results every now and then.

Indeed, it feels very rewarding when those newbies you have helped to know bitcoin is becoming successful in bitcoin. It’s a good thing that you have this program to also help newbies understand bitcoin better, and with todays price, it is not only the profit that you gain but the rewarding feeling that you have helped someone and that they are also grateful with your help.

That is what we need to do in our local city so we can invite more people to learn about bitcoin.
Besides that, they can try to talk with the older members, and they can get more experience from them, which will be useful for the new people to learning bitcoin.
If we can do that in every city and we can manage a meeting with them, I am sure that will help bitcoin to grow and reach more new people in our city.
That will be good too for spreading bitcoin, and that could give trust to them because we don't want to lie to them, and we only want to help them to understand and teach them about bitcoin.
