100 Most Merited Members Club.

I am very happy to announce that from few days I am a part of 100 Most Merited Members Club .

For me, it is a great honor to be on one board, with the most well-known, established and recognized members of the forum.
In fact, I am 95th most merited member on Bitcointalk, with 524 merits earned. I just can't believe how fast this happened.

What, I have learned during the time is to remember, that merit is not the most important thing and if you enjoy, what you are doing on the forum, he will finally find you.

With this post, I will try to encourage everybody, to not give up too fast. If I managed to do this, then I am sure, everybody can. Don't tell me, that you are not a native English speaker, because I am not also. There are tools like Grammarly, which will help you, to write better for free. Develop the right mindset and enjoy the time on the forum, don't do it because of merits or that you have too.
Be yourself, try to be kind and helpful. Spread the word about crypto revolution and in no time you will be in the club too.



I want to say THANK YOU to all members who merited me already and will merit in the future  . This is only possible because of you THANK YOU VERY, VERY MUCH.
Really appreciate it and try, to spread the merit love back, as soon as possible. Never hold more, like a couple of merits.

To get my first 250 merits, I needed exactly 2 years and for another 250 merits, only a couple of months. During the time, my writing skills evolved, with every newly written post and started thread. When one is active and engage in discussions after some time organically is involved in so many threads that sometimes is hard to catch up.

That is why I want to remind about Maggiordomo bot, which is a great tool, to stay up to date, with all that is happening on the forum, especially where we are personally involved. Many times I post in so many threads that this is just impossible to know where it was. This is when Maggiordomo bot  is very handy. After setup, he will notify, about every quote of our post and every mention of the username. Without Maggiordomo bot I would be missing the majority of threads in which I am involved partially.

Until today Maggiordomo bot notified me three times, about winning in the lottery, raffle and a promotion!!! I just spotted a promo and signed up. After some time I forget about it and won.
Luckily, I had Maggiordomo bot setup and when my username was mentioned in the thread, I got the notification and claimed the price of 250$  . This is only one from many times were thanks to Maggiordomo bot, I haven't missed something very important on the forum.

No wasn't deleted but moved from meta section to off topic, were lost all activity. I was surprised because it was about BTC and Bitcointalk, so meta or bitcoin discussion would be the most proper section for such a thread. Additionally, there is so much mug in the meta that I thought, such an inspirational topic, will be appreciated by mods. I was wrong.

After some time I moved this thread again from off topic to beginners help as members suggested in the discussion, where is until today. Still on the first page, after some time.
I think members like to read something different from time to time. There are enough scam and spam threads already.

Anyways, thank you very much for all your kind words.
I will try to do my best and contribute to the forum even more. I am already addicted to Bitcointalk and from few years never missed a day.

As you have seen I am already there from some time and try to spread my bullish sentiment  .

The pump will come everything still looks strong but there can be a trap before the spike. Looks like the price will soon close the trend triangle.
There will be only two scenarios, we will break up or down. I still hope it will be up, but if bulls will be not strong enough in 4 to 8 hours all indicators turn again bearish and indeed there can be a flash crash, again. We need more volume (above 30 billion for faster, stronger moves) or more buyers.

MOST of this top 100 bag of worthless merits are unable  present 5 original thought inspiring posts that stand up to scrutiny. Most is a lot of informational garbage and analysis of MEANINGLESS metrics. Bogus opinions that fall apart under and mild analysis. Political support for the colluders agendas.

Decouple merit from rank after full member and rule it out as a metric to be used at face value for campaign sig entry.

We are crushing the stick of group think and free speech suppression (trust abuse), time to get rid of the carrot next.

Leave it  as a bot prevention tool. That is all it was designed for. It is folly and dangerous to apply other meaning to it.

All that is written above doesn't apply to me. Never got any merits because of political reasons or created "informational garbage and analysis of MEANINGLESS metrics".
Always try to be honest and create original content. I am a simple forum member and if there is a merit system and I was able to get a lot of them, then I am happy about this and see it, as an achievement, especially if this placed me on the list, with 100 most recognized and trusted members on this forum.

Of course, you have only a couple of merits and to be honest, I have never read a quality post, written by you and I read a lot. Maybe I can't remember now or you are writing, only in the meta and reputation section, which I didn't read, if I don't have to. Anyway, if this is so easy, to get merits and the system is so flawed, why do you have only a couple of them?

You are against the new trust system and mentioned about it, despite my thread has nothing to do with this subject, but I will tell you something.
There was an ongoing discussion for so long, about the old trust system on the forum and many members, asked multiple times for a change. Maybe even you, where one of them? I don't know.
Because of these requests, Theymos changed the trust system, taking into consideration all suggestions from the most established and trusted forum members. New system just started some time ago and again, there are members, who are not happy and again call it a flawed and bad system. I would say, take a big breath and be calm, let the new system, to work for a while and if indeed there will be a problem, then Theymos will adjust something.

There will be always somebody unhappy, when new things are implemented, especially if they replace an old system, were a lot of members had a lot of power and will lose it.
There are no easy changes, especially when it goes about the trust system, which is a purely experimental feature.

We should do our best, to help and if there are problems, to point them out, but we have, to work together and not against each other all the time.

Going back to merit, from what I see it works as intended. There is a lot less spam and members, try to contribute, to the forum, as good as possible.
I know for sure that merit works because two years ago, I was reporting hundreds of spammy posts every week, not intended, only when I was reading the forum.
Of course, I try to avoid bounty and altcoins announcements sections, but still, even there the quality is a lot better and I don't see posts like "great project' and "to the moon" anymore.
Today I report, only a couple of posts per month. Do you see the difference?

And I keep wondering why you always write about yourself "WE"? What do you mean by "WE"? Who are "WE"?

Never waste time wondering about irrelevant things. "we" is us. A group of at time like minded individuals that only wish for a transparent and fair system for all members here. To follow the satoshi like intention for this forum.

We have nothing against you and as such are not being critical of "you".

Now, we need you to understand we are BIG FANS of the new trust system. The flag system that is.

We are NOT fans of the old trust system especially it's 2nd version where "merit" was for some reason also then the basis of "trust". That is simply not the case. It made an already vulnerable system wide wide open to gaming and abuse. 

Anyway back on topic to the "merit" system.

You are correct that it does have a valid function at which it succeeds. It cuts down on low quality spam and prevents bot farmers. That is really what it was created for.

If you have read the link above and fully grasped the implications of the systems of control. Then you will see it is undeniable that merit in it's current form comes with a LOT of disadvantages for the forum. It's negatives are clearly at this time VASTLY more dangerous than the bot farmers and account farmers that it holds back.

When you can use it to game the "trust" system and also to create group think and suppress free speech then you need to think of measures to prevent this. I won't go into detail of how merit achieves those negatives since it is explained nicely in the above link.

A few simple tweaks could undo a LOT of the damage in our opinion.

1. decouple merit from rank after full member with immediate full merit delete for any accounts after that found spamming. The work to get to full member or even snr will be a lot to risk if you need to earn all of those merits again.

2. DT should not be so heavily merit weighted " it should have another requirement such as activity perhaps 1500

3. Appoint some merit mods. They can delete merit and deactivate merit sources. If they are consistently meriting based on political grounds of for faux rebuttals or posting any other information that has no value in relation to finding the optimal opinion/ solution they get their merits cut away. Obviously they need to present their case.

You want merit to be "MERIT" not just "LIKES" then you need to make sure the post has some "MERIT".
