hi guys i need help getting more than 1 gpu mining. 1st card is card is a Sapphire rx580 & the 2nd is a XFX rx480 both have 8gb Vram. Both have modded bios and mine fine by there self. I have the AMD mining driver installed & i have ran the atikmdag-patcher-1.4.7. Also they are both in the x16 slots of my motherboard once i got these going i was going the start using riser cards for any additional cards. I am using Claymore mining software running on windows 10 & i only see my 580's average hash rate so i assume my 480 is not being seen. It sucks cause i just invested a good bit between a new PSU and the 480 to try to start really getting into mining. I would appreciate any help and tips/tricks anyone can provide.

Are you seeing both the cards on device manager?
Is the PCIE power plugged in on the 480? Can you show us screenshots of device manager and Claymore right when it starts?

I think you should go into the bios of your mainboard and check it.
My advise is, as most, buy a cheap mining mainboard. You will have much less problems.

For more help with your configuration we need more infos. Special the mainboard.

In Germany a mining mainboard costs about 20 to 30 Euro.

Look for Asus Mining Expert, AsRock H110 pro BTC+, Gigabyte B250 .....

I am having trouble understanding. So you had an Sapphire RX 580 and you mined with it solo and it worked. Then you bought another RX 480 and you tested it out solo and it worked.

Then you added both GPUs directly on the motherboard, so one is x16 and the other is most likely x8 so they both run at x8 bus speed.

Now when you are in device manager you only see 1 GPU correct? The 2nd one isnt listed with a "caution" icon, meaning Code 53? Code 53 is solved by the atikmdag.

Only thing I can think of here is you got some PSU issues or you need to connect a monitor to the 2nd GPU and maybe it will show up. Do you know if you have crossfire enabled? If you do, disable it.

OK, the problem is that the 480 is not being recognised by Windows. If it's not in device manager, it won't be found by Claymore, etc, etc. Nothing to do with the modded bios.

Almost definitely due to your MB settings. Crossfire won't stop the card being recognised, but might hinder mining.

Have you tried different slots in the MB? Read the manual, read up online, and using a riser for the second card will make switching slots easier... Best of luck!

TBH some MBs just refuse to play ball, and it is much better to get a known mining MB and save the hassle - H81 pro btc or Asus  H110 as already mentioned...

I have a x370 Asrock killer sli/ac MB both x16 slots recognize both cards independently. I thought about plugging in a second monitor last night after OP and when I did the 480's fan started blowing full blast and both screens went black. Now the 580 won't show up even solo it displays but doesn't get recognized by any software like adrenalin, trixx, claymore, ETC. By that point I had to go to bed since I had 3hr left before I had to go work. As far as getting a mining board I can't invest in all that yet it's more than just buying a MB need cpu ram etc. Really need to get this going first till I can afford an upgrade.

How do I check crossfire status?

Someone mentioned checking the UEFI what settings am I looking for?

I guess I'll order a riser and see what happens I can afford $7 for now.

What cpu do you have in it?
The reason I ask is because:
Quote
AMD Ryzen series CPUs (Summit Ridge and Pinnacle Ridge)
- 2 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slots (single at x16 (PCIE2); dual at x8 (PCIE2) / x8 (PCIE4))*
AMD 7th A-Series APUs
- 1 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slot (single at x8 (PCIE2))*
AMD Ryzen series CPUs (Raven Ridge)
- 1 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slot (single at x8 (PCIE2))*
AMD Athlon series CPUs
- 1 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slot (single at x4 (PCIE2))*

It's Ryzen 1700x the zen 1 architecture which is summit ridge I believe I can't keep up with all the ridges and lakes. I like tinkering with computers but can't keep up with them sometimes. Hell last time I wrote code was on a commador 64 back in the 80's write like 300 lines just to make Hello flash on the screen and change colors 6 times. Showing my age now. lol

Another try would be to get simplemining. This Mining OS is well done! and free for a few days.
In case you have a driver problem Simplemining will run out of the box.
In case you have a mainboard or gpu problem, Simplemining wont help.
But after this try you will have an idea where the problem is.

I fixed the gpu not being recognized YAYYY  Grin. Now I'm only getting 27hs on one card and 10hs on the other when solo I was getting 30hs/28hs. I have tried switching between cards in trixx to adjust clocks using same clocks and slightly adjusted ones to see if that fixes it but no luck.

Anyone have any ideas almost not worth running the second card with 100/85 watts or 185 watt total.

Not all cards are created equally, even of the same make and model, hashrates will vary. I've seen as much as 100% hash discrepancies among one EVGA FTW3 1080 Ti Hybrid to another. What you can do is update your drivers, all OS updates, latest mining program, optimize power, core, and memory settings in MSI Afterburner, and be sure they have sufficient power too, say 50% load on PSU is optimal for power efficiency.

I would think it should mine close to what it did solo. If there's that much difference between multi use gpu it would. be more worth it to run to solo cards.

if the graphics cards are visible in the task Manager, then you have problems with the configuration of the miner. try to download another version of miner

Watch if both cards have 'Compute mode' switched on. You can use a compute mode switcher script program or use the driver software.
