Sherman's had a hard-on for Bitcoin for years. Virtually nobody in Congress feels the same way as him.

It's only worrisome because I prefer the unregulated space -- there's lots of nanny state bullshit coming down the pipeline. Otherwise, it's all very legitimizing for Bitcoin. The fact that the president and his cabinet are talking about Bitcoin is pretty epic. Even if they are scared of Bitcoin, they obviously can't ignore or laugh at it anymore.

Paper currency is mostly used to score drugs and other illegal activities, no one will go to a drug peddler and open his bitcoin wallet to score these drugs  , after all you need the paper currency to snort these after scoring these and you cannot digitally snort these up with bitcoin .

These people forget that fiat currency valuation comes from thin air. If a government is giving a promise that a paper currency has valuation you cannot trust those empty promise as they can very well withdraw those promises any time and you see the exact situation in India when the government declared that the currency is invalid.

They can shill the USD all they like, but what they don't know is that people are already waking up from the reality and are finding out that there are better options other than getting stuck with fiat forever, and it started with the crypto community at the very least. Besides, the USD and ot her fiat currencies are still being used on a large scale for illegal drug trafficking and other illicit activities that one can name, and only a small percentage of that is actually bitcoin. While the said cryptocurrency has the edge for being pseudo-anonymous and decentralized for that matter, liquidity is the huge problem of these nefarious people that's why most of them still stick with fiat.

the most ridiculous of these assertions is that they do not show proof that bitcoin has surpassed dollar in the matter of which it was most used for money laundering and terrorist financing. becomes ridiculous when they speak of terrorism financing when the US government is a government that likes to provoke other countries of the world and is constantly involved in wars against other countries.

As I know from news channels, many corrupt politicians use dollars for money laundering, use gold, diamonds, and works of art. yes works of art that so much these rich like to buy, in some cases these works of art are used to carry drugs or even for money laundering.

Of course, he is just telling the truth but not the whole truth. Yes, bitcoin is used for illegal trades all because it is a currency. The same thing has been done with US Dollar or any fiat money for that matter. I think I read somewhere of a report that all illegal acts are done using the fiat money unanimously and with only cryptocurrency as the minority. But then again, if you are a critic of bitcoin it would be easy to highlight just one small part of something and use it to promote your own bias and that is what we are witnessing right now. The problem is that the market seems to be reacting the other way around...oh well this is one area which I don't really like. Bitcoin is supposed to be a manifestation of "rebellion" to the usual things so whenever an official of the government is speaking a not-so-good something against Bitcoin the market should have been rallying with it and not what we are seeing now. Okay, I admit I can be wrong here as there is really no evidence that the recent slump is related to what Trump said.

They only say that cryptocurrency is for illegal activity, but I wonder why they don't search the good thing from the cryptocurrency so they can compare with their system and if they found that the cryptocurrency will help them then they don't have to judge cryptocurrency is bad for people. I think they need to learn many things about cryptocurrency before they say like that and I hope soon or later, they will realize that their opinion is wrong.

This guy says what he needs to say and what he wants to be true. So easy when cryptos are bad, fiat and banks are good, right? But surely it's not that's really happening. Banks are basically the biggest money launderers, or at least they definitely laundered way more than the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies. Not to mention the drugs, yeah. So it's more of a fight on who's going to receive profits, and some people avoiding the banks to do their good and not so good things. They weren't really able to avoid the system before, but now there's this truly independent money to use. Moreover, Mnuchin himself might be not the biggest crimes fighter, you know.
