Exodus Wallet for Iphone

I just want to hear some advice and actual experiences about using Exodus wallet with iphone.

There is this existing thread already (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2639970.0) about Exodus wallet and I can say that the feedback appears to be generally great. However, they are mainly discussing about the web wallet. And the last post was made more than a year ago. There must have been more recent experiences since then.

The reason I want to use Exodus is that:

• I am normally mobile so a smart phone is the most convenient way to manage my wallet.
• I want to use a wallet that supports a SegWit address.
• There is no Electrum mobile wallet for iphone. (Am I right?)
• I need a wallet where I can store altcoins as well.

For the phone wallet version, I asked about it a few months ago. You can read the reviews/discussion here (there might have been some updates in the wallet since then)

If you don't like Exodus for whatever reason, you can always check Coinomi, it came to the market way before Exodus.

It's worth mentioning that these multi-coin wallets are closed source. Therefore there is a lack of transparency. So, just use them for small amounts otherwise go with hardware wallets.

If I were you, I would use Coinomi. Old and very good mobile wallet. They are not open source, but thye have a good reputation and I never heard of people losing funds due to their fault. I use it for more than 2 years and I like it.

About your questions:

1 - Coinomi have mobile version for iphone (https://www.coinomi.com/en/downloads/).
2 - Coinomi supports segwit
3 - There is an electrum for OSX (https://electrum.org/#download). I don't know anything about apple, isn't it the same OS that Iphone uses?
4 - Coionomi support lots and lots of coins (125 blockchains)

Can you tell us your intentions with this mobile wallet in the first place? Is it to store all your coins? If so, and if your coins has significant value, then don't. Grabbing a hardware wallet might be the best move. If you're just going to use this as a hot wallet, then go with it. Just don't use it to hold significant amounts.

As someone suggested above, Coinomi is been around for a long time and from my personal experience, they're good. Now, if you like keeping your entire savings in a phone wallet, there is nothing as strong or secure. If you just want to have access to some coins on the move, Blockchain.info's mobile wallet is not too bad.

OSx is for mac OS, while iOS is for iPhones and its mobile OS, ofc.

Blockchain.info's mobile wallet is not too bad.

But it's too bad to use the wallet for a large value of funds and especially regarding setting its fees, so, just disregard them IMO.

This is the same issue that was raised on the old thread that I mentioned in the OP. But if there is no feedback of lost funds, I won't mind using it. After all, even Coinomi is closed source. Anyway, I will only have small funds stored here as this is not my main wallet.

Kris from Exodus here. Which mobile wallet is a good question and I would suggest installing them both to find is which one is right for you. Take all the suggestions with good intentions and remember that every one of use has a different use case and criteria for what makes a good wallet. Reach out to support from within each wallet and see how your requests are handled. Coinomi has been around in mobile for a lot longer than Exodus, We're just getting started here, but we have years of developing positive relationships with customers and building in requested features.

If you end up going with Coinomi, let me know what Exodus was lacking that led you to that choice because we're always looking to improve the experience for everyone.

Do not let laziness go with the money you are struggling to collect. There is no reason to use a closed-source wallet, but rather that it brings together many coins in one place.

I don't agree, for many reasons.

First of all, this is not the same wallet I suggested. Coinomi desktop wallet was released this year, 2019, and I suggested their mobile version, which doesn't have this vulnerability and never had, and is working since 2013 (not sure, but close to that)

The guy you mentioned on the topic just put his life savings(60-70k USD)  in a new wallet, which was just released less than a month before. Why didn't he use ledger nano? He was imprudent.

Also, the op asked here for a multicurrency desktop wallet. Your suggestion, myetherwallet, is not mobile wallet, it is not multicurrency.

Which multicurrency wallet for mobile would you suggest? As OmegaScream said, they are all closed source. I think coinomi is still the best, because that vulnerability didn't happen in their mobile.

Also, nobody should put more than your smartphone is worth in a mobile wallet, imo

I only know one person who bitcoins on iOS and they use BRD AKA Bread Wallet and seem content. I'd be happy enough with Coinomi too. I've never had a problem with the mobile wallet but I wouldn't park large amounts on there.

One wallet everyone should ignore is Mycelium on iOS. Unfortunately not enough people realise it's effectively been abandoned. More than fine for Android of course.

When I used an Iphone around a year around, I personally used Bread Wallet and Trust Wallet . It really depends on what features you are looking for, for example, I stored only small amounts of crypto on those wallets and I preferred a wallet with a nice design and it was multisig. I dislike Coinmi's UI compared to Bread's (especially since I still hold bread to this day), and I've only used it to pull bitcoin gold off my private keys, and it was hard to manage the UI.

Exodus is fine on desktop. I wish I could get private keys of my bitcoins and not just get the 12-word seed, so I can import it to other wallets (samurai on mobile), but it's quite attractive and I've recommended my friends to use it.

Try trustwallet! I think it's probably the best one right now, it's multi-currency and you can also add random erc20 tokens.

Can you not use this with it? https://iancoleman.io/bip39/  I know some wallets have weird derivation paths. I used it to get private keys out of Mycelium to retrieve shitforks. It can be a bleedin' nightmare pinning down the right address but it's possible.

I can't remember fully since it was a year ago, but since it was changing address, I thought it wouldn't be possible to extract the private keys (especially since the addresses kept changing, and I have like half my funds on 1 address, and the other half on 2 different addresses), so I'd need to either transfer all the coins to a singular new address, or find another way.

Access to your private keys in Exodus is quick and easy. You can grab the private key for any public key directly from within each wallet. It's your crypto, under your control.

All the private keys are available through that. The tricky part can be finding the right ones as it shows you thousands of them. They show up in batches of 20. If I remember rightly the ones you've already used tend to emerge rapidly though I've given up a few times. It's possible I was using the wrong derivation path.

Make sure you use it on a very offline computer of course.
