Burns and Root are building a big partnership at the moment and I think that the game is running away from Australia at the moment. Why in the world would the selectors drop Starc in such a crucial series is beyond my understanding.

He would have probably provided the breakthrough that they needed thanks to his experience and they are already paying for his omission. I think England could get close to 400 easily at this rate.

They either give excuses of injury or bad performance and sometimes without any excuse players are dropped. All depends on the selectors only.

Match stats: Great play from England. Now they are trailing only by 130 runs but just lost Root for 57. England are performing so much better than Aussies up till now. Don't know what went wrong with them last time against Ireland as they look more comfortable today than that day. They should be able to chase down the runs and add another 100 by today but they are getting runs too slowly (154 in 50 overs).

Well I do not see it as a valid excuse. Starc could make the Aussies bowling attack better. He was in great form.

Anyway, back to the match, England lost their third wicket and this time it's Denly. Australia really needs the wicket of Burns. He is well set. Buttler is dangerous too. Don't let him to set in the pitch.

Pattinson just got Denly out. England is now 194/3, with Burns and Buttler at crease. The advantage with Australia is that they were able to get two quick wickets (Root and Denly). England is still quite a long way away from building a sizable lead. If Australia could restrict their first innings lead to less than 100, then it is going to be advantage Australia.

This is interesting. Another middle-order collapse is getting triggered for England? Stokes now giving company to Burns, and England still trails by 81 runs. If the Australians can snatch the first innings lead (although it is very unlikley), it is going to be huge. There is depth in the English batting order, but of late, they are looking vulnerable to panicking.

A lot depends on how England place in the last session of the test today.  if they manage to avoid losing more wickets then we can safely say that they can make a good lead tomorrow.
Burns has just completed his century and stokes has just come in to bat. I thought it would have been better if the England have sent a night watchman instead of strokes.

Lbw shout and surprisingly Mr Aleem dar's fingers were itching Joe Root took DRS right away because he edged and no biggie that third umpire ruled out Mr Dar's decision.

Okay good to know that it went against England. Since the World cup final, it seems every (most of the) wrong decision goes in favor of England :-P

Well very poor excuse in my opinion. Have the series in hand first then take chance with others.

Its always about building a good lineup for the future. You recall the time when spinners like Chahal , Yadav and Axar patel were introduced when Ashwin and Jadeja were at their top form. To be honest it doesn't seems like a right decision especially when you are playing a series like Ashes. Eitherway its a good opportunity to put a mark in Ashes for them.

Burns and Stokes are batting well and now only 43 runs left to chase and then put runs on board. Still it doesn't look they'll be able to put up more than 50 runs today with time running out depending on how many overs they can play. This time so many reviews were successful and umpires decisions were reversed.

Australian bowling lacks tooth. None of the bowlers gave an impression that they are capable of taking wickets. Both the pacers and the spinners were equally disappointing. Nathan Lyon looked like a grade quality bowler. On top of all this, just now they wasted a review after appealing for LBW. The ball pitched well outside leg stump and still they went for it.

IMO, England will be in lead by the end of the day's play today.

Here in the cricket thread we are small group of people who comment most of the time and there is no generic messages or spam that are posted in those thread, they either have knowledge of the game and the matches being played and no one can just post some bullshit and get away with it, there are many threads in gambling discussion that are just filled with generic messages and most of the threads will be closed after sometime.

When it comes to the Ashes, England is in a comfortable position as they trail by just 17 runs and they have 6 wickets in hand, have not seen Rory Burns play earlier but he is cruising after making his century, not sure what happened to Starc as i expected him in the team and Australia is not having the bowlers that could trouble the English batting line up.

I was thinking the same thing mate, like I said its like the selectors have picked a second rate Australian team to play in this test match. No matter what Strac should be playing, he is Australia's best strike bowler and he can get the ball to swing so I don't understand the selectors decision to play Siddle over Strac. I can understand them leaving Hazlewood out as his form has dropped off in recent times but Strac should be playing. England look very strong right now and will take a lead in the match which will be tough for Australia to come back from. England can bat all day on day 3 and get a huge first innings lead, if Australia isn't careful they could lose by an innings and some runs unless they get some quick wickets early on day 3.

Spammers are everywhere Royse(They aren't just exclusively in the Gambling section) and anyone who says otherwise are fooling themselves. The 'Report to Mod' function should only be used only if someone is absolutely sure that the post is spammy because I have observed many people abusing that button on a regular basis in this forum.

Its good that you are self-moderating your threads though since I rarely encounter any kind of spam in your threads.

England have been playing very slowly yesterday and still they haven't managed to get 284 runs and start adding up runs. Hope their innings get over today and they put up atleast 200 more runs. With Burns still on the crease, I have hope that he'll be able to get 150+ and Stokes will help build the partnership and take it to 100. With 3 days left and 2 more innings, I am seeing more chances of a draw at this time but hope England are able to put up runs before getting all out and no more rain please. I want this first test match to atleast have a clear result.
