Ashwin was opener while playing divisional matches then he made the transition but it was before U17 so we can't compare Washi with him but there's certain resemblance and also there's room for himself to groom in a couple of years since he will be the closer one to be in comparison than the debutants but it's all in his hands whether he is ready to make necessary effort to fill in a great spot.

Conway broke the opening batsman's first couple with a crack at the fall of the wicket from here. And New Zealand was forced to lose the next wickets very quickly thus eventually the New Zealand team was forced to lose under wicket pressure. If only a few reliable batsmen of the New Zealand team, who have performed poorly, could have scored a few runs, the New Zealand team would have won the Test match. 
Conway, Daryl Mitchell, and Glenn Phillips are very aggressive but get outs very easily.  Prabath Jayasuriya is Sri Lanka's most prolific bowler, he has beaten five New Zealand batsmen. Therefore, if we consider from different aspects, it would have been possible to win if the New Zealand team could protect the wicket and perform for a long time.

New Zealand need to collect 68 runs to win which is very difficult in the match situation at the moment. Rachin Ravindra is unbeaten on 91 and is the only man who can bring anything positive to New Zealand if he survives to the end. Sri Lanka need two wickets at any cost if Sri Lanka can take these two wickets at the beginning of the first session then there will be more chances of going to Lanka. But an important point here is that Rachin Ravindra will have to take more strikes as he is not used to batting at the non-striking end.  So if Rachin Ravindra is more at the strike end then New Zealand will have some chance of winning.

Prabath Jayasuriya pick most crucial wicket for Sri lanka of Rachin Ravindra. New Zealand bastmen tried their best to win this test match but lack of partnership cause this lost. Prabath Jayasuriya outstanding bowling performance picked 5 important wickets in second inning of this test match. Ramesh Mendis also bowl well pick the three crucial wickets for his team and helped Sri lanka to win the test match by 63 runs and lead the series by 1-0. If Prabath Jayasuriya didn't pick wicket of Rachin Ravindra then match result will be different.

The Sri Lankan team gave a target of only 275 runs. Considering the pitch, it cannot be called a big target. Because New Zealand collected 340 runs in the first innings. We saw quite good batting from the New Zealand batsmen. So when I saw Sri Lanka set a target of less than 300, I thought it would not be difficult for New Zealand to win this match. But in the end New Zealand lost this match by 63 runs.

Apart from Rachin Ravindra, no other New Zealand batsman could bat well in this match. If Williamson or Daryl Mitchell could have batted with some responsibility, the New Zealand team could have won the match.

I will give full credit to Prabath Jayasuriya and Ramesh Mendis for Sri Lanka's win in this match. Prabath Jayasuriya took 5 wickets in the second innings and 4 in the first innings. And Ramesh Mendis took 6 wickets in two innings.

Am really impressed with India. Rohit is doing a fantastic job as the test captain and I feel like they are pretty much in the WTC final at the rate at which they are going though I hope they end up winning this one at least.

Australia, NZ, Sri Lanka and South Africa seem to have the best chances for the remaining slot in the final. Let's see who will end up in the final.

After the end of the first innings, New Zealand had a lead of 25 runs and everyone was of the point of view that they may dominate in this match. Even in the 2nd innings when Sri Lanka made only 309 runs, it seems that New Zealand will easily win this match. However, it was only the last innings of New Zealand where they collapsed on 211 runs and lost this match. Prabath Jayasuriya was simply unplayable and he took 5 wickets in that last innings.

I could not imagine that New Zealand, who led by 35 runs in the first innings, would perform so badly in the second innings. But in the second innings, I would consider a good performance by the Sri Lankan bowlers as the turning point. Prabath Jayasuriya picked up five valuable wickets in 30 overs.  But at the end of the fourth day, when New Zealand needed 68 runs and Sri Lanka needed just two wickets, he picked up those two wickets to give Sri Lanka victory.

Sri Lanka won by 63 runs against New Zealand. As far i know, New Zealand is a strong team, made with many talented players. In the 1st inngins, Sri Lanka did 305-10 runs where Kamindu Mendis(114) did a century and in 2nd inngins, they did similar score as 309-10 runs where Dimuth Karunaratne(83) was highest scorer in batting. So we can see Sri Lanka was able to hold their similar performance in both innings. On the other hand, New Zealand did more score of 340-10 runs and ahead from Sri Lanka where Tom Latham(70), Kane Williamson(55) did half century but in the 2nd half, New Zealand performance was dropped and they scored only211-10 where Rachin Ravindra(92) Showed his excellent performance, was about to century but their batsmen unable to hold their performance like 1st inngins. New Zealand did not perform as well in the second innings as they did in the first innings. If two more batsmen like Rachin Ravindra could have played a good innings, New Zealand might have had a 100% chance of winning but no one could form a long partnership with him.



As Rachin Ravindra remained unbeaten at one end but at the other end if any batsman could have made a long unbeaten partnership then New Zealand could have won this match.
A 56-run partnership with Tom Blundell, if any other player could have put together a partnership or two like that, New Zealand would have won and I would have won the bet in the end.  I also lost the bet to lose the New Zealand match.

Well, the only benefits India get here are the important points for the ICC World Test Championship and maybe some match practice. Also when you win, the players and team get the incentives and prize money

IMO, the ICC World Test Championship will be much more exciting, if it is played between the strongest teams. I would say that 6 teams can be included - India, Australia, England, South Africa, Pakistan and New Zealand. Teams like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are unable to compete with the top teams at this level. For them, a separate 5-day competition can be organized by the ICC. The presence of weaker teams is one of the reasons why hardly anyone follows test cricket nowadays.

Australia and India are likely to be in WTC again because those two teams are capable of winning the away games which plays the crucial points and I thought NZ was doing good but they let SL to score more than they should and lost the match there. After this NZ got test series in India which could also be ended one sided match cause we know how strong the team India in test ear not since Rohit but for almost a decade.

First test match of New Zealand touring to Sri Lanka competition was finished today with unexpected outcome and Sri Lanka squad defeated New Zealand squad in home ground and their squad has good advantage. But New Zealand squad is also not a weak squad but they faced defeated in first match very badly. Their performance in second inning was weak compared to first one and Sri Lanka squad has managed 305 scores in first inning and other, New Zealand squad achieved all scores and leading 35 scores. In 2nd inning of New Zealand squad, their batter was unable to restore their position and their squad was declined to low and they managed just 211 scores with lost all wickets. Prabath Jayasuriya picked up the main 5 wickets of New Zealand squad to give burden on their batter at end they did not face the bowlers of Sri Lanka and lost the first match.

Excellent batting by Sri lanka team in each of innings they scored upto three hundred and set the target of 275 runs in second innings which was chaseable. Bangladesh only have the capability to compete with Zimbabwe in test format. They were lucky to win against Pakistan in the last series, Pakistan had actually lost for their poor decision. First Sri Lanka beating New Zealand was a surprise in itself but when you see this ICC WTC table, it is strange to see Sri Lanka in the third position. Renowned teams like England, New Zealand and South Africa are below them. Do you think Sri Lanka will be able to sustain this position?

New Zealand are in the 4th position and if NZ win the next match, they can still move up to the third position. Sri Lanka would want to win the 2nd test so as not only with the series but at the same time whitewash them and strengthen their position in the World Test Championship.

New Zealand needs 68 more runs to win, and Rachin Ravindra is their best hope. He has 91 runs so far and must keep going. If Sri Lanka gets two more wickets early on they will win. But Ravindra has challenge. He is not used to batting without being on strike. To help New Zealand win he needs to control game and protect his teammate. If Ravindra keeps playing well and stays focused New Zealand might win. But Sri Lanka has advantage because they're playing at home and have good bowlers. It is a tense situation and Ravindra skills and mental strength will be tested.

Sri Lankan International test cricket team won the match by 63 runs. The match was very interesting and we saw healthy fight in this match but the result was in the favour of Sri Lankan team . Before 3 to 4 years we saw SL team as a bad performer but they now they are coming to their game and they are following the path of Dilshan , Sangkara and jaysurya . Kamindu Mendis played very well in this match and his team won due to his great performance because he made century for his team and Karunaratne  also played well in this match and he made 36 and 50 runs in this match.New Zealand team could not win this match but target was not big but they could not chase that due to low quality batting but their bowling was not bad.
