Good come back by Team India in the second innings which made the things little difficult. Though England still had a good lead and should have being able to draw the test match if cannot register win, but just failed to it. A draw is what India requires in last test match to win the series else if England register win it will be a tie.

After a poor performance in the first inning, their comeback in the second inning is admirable. Every batsman on the team has tried to play well. And then they collected a huge one in the second inning. Moreover, the performance of their bowlers is commendable. It is mainly for them that India has been able to win. And England's first wicket pairing played very well. Since then, the Indian bowlers have not given a chance to any England batsman to partner. This is the only reason India has been able to win.

This might've got turned to be the match of England, because England lost its first wicket on 100. Further it has lost 9 wickets for 110 runs. None could've predicted this match to turn this way. Also they've got the home ground advantage. We don't know what exactly made the batsmen end with such worse performance. From the bowling side everyone gace the best and thats the reason for this match winning.

I disagree. I expected a lead of 300 due to the top order batting performances and some others expected a lead closer to 350. However, I do agree with you regarding Pant and Thakur's partnership changing everything.

We don't know what exactly made the batsmen end with such worse performance. From the bowling side everyone gace the best and thats the reason for this match winning.

Didn't you watch England's recent batting performances? They have consistently proved that they are over-dependent on Root and some of them only perform now and then. The reason India won this match is due to the combination of their batting and bowling units.

India is the best team in Test cricket for the past few years, they went to Australia and despite having a terrible first match and with a depleted team due to injury they turned to series upside down and won the series even without having the best playing eleven and they are continuing that same performance in England. If India can win touring Australia and England, India can literally beat any team touring.

I thought Shardul Thakur will be the Man of the match as he played an instrumental part in this match with the bat and ball in India winning the match.

On the 5th day, even a target of 200 can be challenging. On top of that, the Indian pacers were in excellent form. A lot of eyebrows were raised when the playing XI was announced. Kohli faced a lot of criticism for excluding Ashwin. But in the end, everything worked well for him. It was Shardul Thakur who made the most contribution, and if Ashwin had to be included then he would have been dropped. Another controversial selection was that of Umesh Yadav, but he also picked up crucial wickets and justified his inclusion.

Holy Jesus! England went from 100/1 to 210 all out. That is an insane batting unit collapse. Addition of players like Stokes, Archer etc would still probably not be enough to save this weak English batting line-up.

I expected this result after India's epic 2nd innings score, but I didn't expect England to lose by a huge margin. If India wins the next one too, it would probably be regarded as a historical achievement.

Brilliant bowling by the Indian bowlers. Everything went as planned by the Indian team. All thanks to Rohit Sharma that the team was able to score 466 in the second innings. The pressure was on the English side and they collapsed while chasing the target. After 35 years Indian won a match at the oval.

Burns and Hameed gave them a head-start, but the remaining batsmen (including Joe Root) couldn't utilize it. And for India, it's just the reverse. So far they have performed better while batting second. And in India's case, the lower order have contributed massively to the total. In the second test, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami put up 89 runs for the 9th wicket, while for the 4th test first it was the 63-run stand between Shardul and Umesh for the 9th wicket, and then again there was a 100-run stand between Rishabh and Shardul for the 7th wicket.

No other cricket board has been able to improve itself as much as India has in the last few years. India now has many talented backup players. So now even if some senior players retire, they will not face any big problem but other teams are dependent on some certain players. Moreover, India has made tremendous progress in both spin and pace bowling. So they are now able to perform well on any pitch, in any condition.

I agree with you. The performance of India's lower-order batsmen in the second innings was commendable. Those who do not expect good batting from India have also performed well enough. In particular, we were unaware that Bumrah can be batted so well. He was given batting training so maybe he will become an all-rounder.

Why is South Africa so shitty these days? I put some money on them against Siri Lanka ... hoping that they would play much harder... to not have to playoff to qualify, but they never turned up for the bloody game!

I thought that would be a sure thing.... but it is very disappointing.     I hope they will turn up for their next bloody game or I will write them off for the future. (Politics are messing with the team selection and it shows)

Indian curators will prepare dust-bowls and that will make it impossible for the New Zealand bowlers to make a total of even 200. Now this has become the trend. Look at the recent matches played in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh (against South Africa and New Zealand respectively). The pitches were horrible and everyone struggled to make runs. Ideally the SENA curators should go for revenge and prepare bouncy tracks in their home grounds. But I don't know how that will end up, when the opposing team is having bowlers such as Bumrah and Shami.

It is not so surprising to see South Africa lost the match chasing. They lost the first match chasing and in the second match South Africa won because they batted first and Sri Lanka and then there was weather interruptions and the overs were cut short and they lost by a big margin and here in the third match even though Sri Lanka scored just over 200 runs South Africa struggled to keep the scoreboard moving and the team batting first won the first three matches.

I would have placed a live bet if i saw the score for South Africa to chase but luckily i was busy today and missed the match, if not i would have busted today  .

SA has been performing shitty for quite some time now. There was nothing to suggest that they will win as their batsmen have not been performing as expected by them. The score was just 203 and they were not able to chase it, imagine how bad they have batted. You should have checked their previous performance before putting money on them.

When players like Alan Donald, Shaun Pollock, Jacques Kallis and Lance Klusener were playing for them, they were the toughest side to beat. But times have changed and due to quota policy many of the promising white players have emigrated to other countries. And some of these players (Neil Wagner, Devon Conway, Marnus Labuschagne, Colin Munro, David Wiese.etc) have become the backbone of their adopted teams.

But a part of the reason why South Africa performed so poorly lies in the pitch. The surface that was prepared for the 3rd match was close to unplayable.

I agree that the "Politics" have ruined South African Cricket, because people are not chosen for teams based on their performance or skills anymore, but just on the color of their skin.

Some might say it is reversed Apartheid, but we have to agree that the previous disadvantaged people also has to come through to compete at the highest levels and some of these people are very skilled and capable to do the job... the problem is.. too many are chosen now, that are not ready for that level of competition and Politicians are only focused on numbers and ratios.

The excuse that the pitch was unplayable, should also have been a problem for the other team.. so it is the team that adapt to the conditions of the pitch ...that will win the game.
