David Malan, Johny Bairstow and Chris Woakes have decided they won't be going for IPL 2021 2nd half to Dubai, they have cited reasons that they want to spend some time with family before world cup and Ashes but after all we all know that this is a consequence of India cancelling the 5th test against England, I thought ECB Would directly make a stern decision regarding this but they rather took the secret way by forcing their players to Don't go for IPL to avenge what Indian did. Now I personally think that IPL won't be much affected by this rather it would be English players who would lose a lot on money and I am not sure their board will reimburse them for this.

If i'm not wrong then Malan is about to feature in County cricket this week so his decision of pulling out from the IPL influenced by the Ashes. There might be some angle of ECB forcing him but i won't take this conspiracy theory seriously because ECB and BCCI are in good terms if not excellent.

I am not sure how this is going to be some sort of revenge. The England players are going to be replaced by other overseas players, and the IPL will go ahead as planned. The players themselves are going to lose fat paychecks. And the ECB as well, since they are supposed to receive 10% royalty payment for each player from the IPL board. And in the long run also, the franchises may prefer players from other countries, if the ECB has a history of making their national players unavailable for such franchise leagues.

This is not revenge, the players are tired of living in a bubble without seeing their wife and kids and there is a limit for everything and if the players are travelling for the IPL then they need to spend months to be back to normal and for those months they will be spending their time in a bubble and it will be taxing for themselves and i totally understand players making a choice of staying home and not go after the huge pack checks.

IPL + World Cup will be over in two months and after that they can remain with their family for as long as they want. These are challenging times and they need to get adjusted to the ground realities. Here these people are being presented with a choice. There are a lot of people who have lost their jobs. They never had such a choice available. Cricketers should behave like normal people and not like VIPs. Tournaments like IPL are needed for the TV channels and the national boards, in order to cover the losses they suffered during the last 18 months. The players also need to understand this, even if it means staying away from the family for a few months.

Respect? Lol. Bairstow's performance was horrible in the test series while Malan played well and Woakes wasn't even a part of it. This is what matters more than their decision to ignore IPL(Personal reasons or Revenge). Also, IPL won't be affected at all by their omissions since there are many great replacements available. For example, Bairstow might not be included in SRH's playing eleven due to his bad form in recent times. The players also need to understand this, even if it means staying away from the family for a few months.
The reason could be revenge or personal, but the fact is that it's their choice at the end of the day.

SRH is heavily dependent on overseas players and in case any of the other overseas batsmen are not available (Warner or Williamson), then Bairstow's absence will be felt more severely. The same goes for Rajasthan as well. It is not easy to replace the trio of Ben Stokes/Jofra Archer/Jos Buttler, given the volatile form of Sanju Samson. This is where they are going to miss Steve Smith badly. He could have added some stability to the middle order, especially in case Samson or Miller gets out early in the innings.

I disagree. Bairstow's form has been horrible across all formats for sometime now and SRH has several overseas players to replace him(Rutherford, Holder etc). Also, Warner is available since he was seen practicing in the nets. The same goes for Rajasthan as well. It is not easy to replace the trio of Ben Stokes/Jofra Archer/Jos Buttler, given the volatile form of Sanju Samson. This is where they are going to miss Steve Smith badly. I agree. RR is heavily dependent on the overseas players that you mentioned which is why their performance will probably be horrible in the 2nd leg.

I will not write them off. Sanju Samson may be volatile, but on his day he can single-handedly destroy the opposition. And then they have Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube. In the absence of Stokes, the star overseas player is going to be Chris Morris, with support from David Miller, Evin Lewis, Liam Livingstone and Glenn Phillips. Then for bowling they have promising youngsters like Lord Tewatia and Chetan Sakariya, along with Tabraiz Shamsi. Who knows? They can be the surprise package this season.

This is what matters more than their decision to ignore IPL(Personal reasons or Revenge). Jonny Bairstow was not in his form during the Test series but he can change that in the shorter format as he is always a dangerous player and can clear the ropes easily. Playing Test and T20 are entirely different, may be he needs to work on his defense and even there he got starts but like many others in the team he could not capitalize on the starts he got. Also, IPL won't be affected at all by their omissions since there are many great replacements available. For example, Bairstow might not be included in SRH's playing eleven due to his bad form in recent times.
IPL might not be affected but the players will be missing out on experiencing the track well before the World Cup as i assume the IPL and World Cup matches will be played in the same grounds and the players who are in the IPL will be having a through knowledge of the pitch and the atmosphere .

Obviously, in monetary terms, it might look bad for ECB, but their reputation is at stake this time, today Michael Vaughan made a tweet that really had a point he said: IPL teams chartering planes .. 6 days quarantining required in the UAE .. 7 days till the tournament starts !!!! Don’t tell me the Test was cancelled for any other reason but the IPL .. Technically if you see India did cancel the last match for IPL no matter what reason does BCCI give, this is obviously a bit disgraceful as such things haven't really been part of Cricket, boards have always kept their commitments no matter what, also Covid Cases in UK haven't really gone that high if you compare it with the cases during the rest of the series, If the Bio-Bubble is breached even then it's obvious BCCI decided to leave the test to ensure players stay fit for IPL, and even if it wasn't then also the main intention of BCCI was to ensure these players get their quarantine to avoid any problems. Now if any board does such a thing to you, you obviously won't run behind a paycheck from them unless obviously, you are too poor on finances which ECB definitely isn't.

That is the accusation some of the former England players are showering at this time because India won the series and they can console that they could have won the 5th Test and leveled the series. It is a fact that the schedules are tightly packed and the players are getting worn out due to their hectic schedule and they do not want to extend the series and then fly directly to UAE and start playing the IPL. I do believe that if the IPL schedule is next month mid then they might have tried to conduct the match at a later time when everything is clear but in a tight schedule the players might not be willing to extend any further.

It makes sense, the players are there in England for months and now they are traveling for the IPL and the final is conducted on 15th October and the T20 World Cup will start on 17th October and it is yet another month full of cricket matches and the final will takes place on November 14th and it is really taxing for the players as they are playing one tournament after another without much rest and more over they need to be in the bubble for months. No wonder some of the players are pulling out of the IPL because they are playing the IPL and the T20 World Cup back to back and i wont be surprised if some of the players that are playing now gets injured during the time World Cup starts.

That will be the case obviously, because the venues for the IPL and the T20 World Cup are the same. Those who take part in the IPL doesn't need to further get acclimatized to the bio-bubble and climate conditions for the World Cup. And this is why I believe that some of the players pulling out of the IPL is making a wrong choice. And for the argument that consecutive tournaments result in fatigue, I need to remember that these guys are professionals and there are professions where employees need to remain off-shore for 6 months or more. Cricket players are not anything special. They should behave like the other guys.

~ There is no doubt that we will be living like this for the next 5 years or possibly more and what clear cut rule does they make during these circumstances.
We might be living in a bubble for the next 5 years but the only India is having the problem of players or the non player staff getting infected. The IPL was stopped due to players getting infected and now the Indian coaching staff got infected. I am not sure how they are getting infected when they are in the bubble, the ICC needs to investigate those as it is happening frequently. Lack of discipline is the reason most Indian players are getting infected. I am sure this time BCCI will in place strict rules and guidelines for players and staff who will be present for the IPL tournament. They should also put in place strict punishment not only for the players but the franchise too if they want the IPL to end smoothly this time. Well ever since this big three model came up, we are seeing extra ordinary influence of three teams i.e. India, Aus and England. Recent test cancellation is strongly criticised by fans and media in England as its clearly for IPL. And this clearly show how strong BCCI is. No one can confront BCCI as everyone wants IPL contract. Anyone against them lose too much money in the form of IPL denial. See example of Pakistan, despite no 1 team in T20 they were denied entry in IPL.

There could be bits and peaces players who are in the team simply because they could not another talent. Again the sports (cricket) require fitness and it is altogether different from other professions.
Only in recent times we started to see cricket players giving time on fitness, other sports like soccer you cannot play if you are not extremely fit or any other sport but for cricket you do not need to be extremely fit but now a days things are changing as more players are spending time in the gym.

You need to blame the tight schedule for the cancellation of the final Test match, since they are playing during a pandemic and they did not even set an extra date and they filled the open dates with matches and the players are humans as they cannot play all the time and expect to perform at their best. Fatigue is a huge factor and i would still love to see the final Test rescheduled than watching the IPL to be frank.

Pakistani players were allowed in the initial editions of the IPL. That was discontinued due to political reasons. And it is a big blow, both for the players and for the PCB. Because no other franchise league pays the same level of salary that the IPL does. BBL is the worst, and the salaries there are only around 1/10th of that in the IPL. Other leagues are only slightly better. For example, Kieron Pollard is being paid $91,000 per year by Trinbago Knight Riders, compared to his salary of $757,000 with the Mumbai Indians.
