Observed that recent posts discussed IPL which is a T-20 tournament which is why this particular discussion needs to continue in the T-20 Discussion thread in my opinion. Recent test cancellation is strongly criticised by fans and media in England as its clearly for IPL. And this clearly show how strong BCCI is. No one can confront BCCI as everyone wants IPL contract.
I disagree. Some fans like me didn't criticise the test cancellation since we agreed with India's decision who weren't willing to take risks due to their physios getting infected. ECB wanted India to forfeit in order to save face, but the BCCI weren't dumb enough to succumb to their demands. Also, Pakistan players aren't part of the IPL in recent years due to tensions between India and Pakistan(Not just the BCCI). But we saw IPL in full swing going on despite massive spread of covid in India until some players decided to leave to show support for the sufferings of the people (Zampa, Ashwin and few others). Whether it's on choice of ECB or BCCI, such things are not good for the game in the long run. I don't think Kovid 19 should be re-boycotted or postponed due to IPL. Although some players of Sunrise Hyderabad have already been affected by Covid 19 and are out of the field for 14 days quarantine. Today Sunrise Hyderabad their match is against Delhi Capital Lost. If some of their players had not been positive, their matches would not have been lost so hard.

I am someone who need to work 5 days a week, and on average 8 hours per day. Here we have a bunch of guys who play cricket around 60-70 days per year and even during the tours they bring their family along and roam around with them. They need to behave like athletes playing any other sport. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi spend a lot more time playing compared to these guys and still maintain the professionalism. If these guys can't keep up with the schedules, then they can retire from any two formats, and focus on the format which they like the most (T20?).
I think these guys should start thinking of cricket as their full-time job, not some kid's hobby. And the cricket boards should look into this matter seriously. If u can't attend to the office because u wanna spend quality time with your family when your team needs you, you shouldn't have a job. There are a lot out there who's better than you. It's not about retiring from other formats, it's about dedication. And they freaking have none of it.

^ I think sometimes prayer just takes it too easy. They think they have done everything alright and enough so they can have a long rest. But a lot of them can push their body further than they always do. Players at times don't even remember that they are professionals and they get paid for playing better. They treat it like a hobby but actually, they should treat it as a job. Because it is their job to play well and give their 100% no matter what. And if you simply cannot follow some simple rules then you should not be with the team.
I have noticed that some of the Indian players have become extremely arrogant nowadays. They believe that they should be treated as gods, and laws doesn't apply to them. The toothless behavior of the BCCI has further encouraged this behavior. If the BCCI had taken a strong stance after the bubble-breaches in IPL and Sri Lanka, then the players would have fallen in line. But the BCCI is busy with infighting and they didn't had the balls to take action against those who were responsible for the breach. The BCCI is not paying much attention to the ICC now. They are doing as they please. Proof of this is the cancellation of the match against England. Similarly, their players are becoming reckless. The players are too arrogant. Because BCCI never gives any punishment to the players. After the incident in Sri Lanka, I thought maybe BCCI would give any punishment to the players, I thought money could fine. But BCCI did not give any punishment to the players. If BCCI never gives any punishment to the players then it will cause disgrace to them in future. Not punishing players for contracting a pandemic disease will not bring disgrace to BCCI that is for sure. There should be some disciplinary action against those who breached the bubble but how will you prove it? Still, it is possible to take disciplinary action but we need to wait for those as at the moment they are busy with IPL and also the upcoming T20 WC.

Exactly. International cricket should be treated as a career, and not as a hobby. First of all, the BCCI should stop bringing in entire families for the foreign tours. This doesn't allow the players to stay focused. If they want to go for shopping with the families, then they can do that after the tour, not in between. When was the last time that India won an ICC tournament? This may be the reason. They had a good chance to win the WTC final, and still lost the match. And this T20 world cup represents an ideal opportunity for them to win an ICC trophy. Let's see how they perform.

I know people who work for 300+ days a year. And here we have a bunch of guys who claim that they are overworked, despite playing for far fewer number of days. If they feel that they are exhausted, then who told them to participate in all the formats? They can just concentrate on one format and leave the other formats for the younger players. Without the support from fans like us, these guys are nothing. So they should be careful before they get too demanding. Let the BCCI decide the schedule. The players can decide whether to participate or not.

The AFG 19 team is now playing a Test match against the BD 19 team in Bangladesh. Until the last news, Bangladesh lost all their wickets to collect 162 runs at the end of the first day. Just as the Bangladesh team is inexperienced in the Test team, so are their youngsters inexperienced too for this format. I think their patience is very low. However, the Afghanistan team's collection is 40/2. I'm not sure if Afghanistan can score 162 runs.

Can't find the details in ESPN Cricinfo. But it is good if they are playing in 4-day matches. It is extremely rare nowadays to see the age group teams playing the longer format. The competition has mostly shifted to the T20 format, with ODI taking the second preference. BTW, when is the ICC going to decide about Afghanistan? They can't keep their decision in suspended animation mode. Either they should terminate their membership or come up with an announcement that Afghanistan (under Taliban) is allowed to participate in the ICC events.

Honestly, I don't think anyone has the time to watch test cricket for 5 days even the cricketers will agree that it is a waste of time to watch cricket for 5 days because people need to work to support the economy of the country. Even I am happy watching the highlights of test cricket and learning about the scores because I don't think watching every ball of test cricket is necessary. And about the Afghanistan situation, I think ICC is under enough diplomatic pressure about this situation. But they shouldn't keep such a decision hanging in the air. Either say yes or say no.

After the arrival of T20 there is hardly any interest left in Test, even ODIs are no more that much popular. I too just check the score card on espncricinfo on the completion of each day. But we have to accept the fact that Test format is the real cricket whether someone liked it or not. Bowlers skills can only be verified in test format. T20 has major role in increasing the popularity of cricket worldwide since it can be completed in 3 hrs approx.

Amazingly you do not need a lot of skills like Test cricket in T20 format. You only need to hit the ball well as a batsman and as a bowler, you need to restrict the batsmen. I am not a fan of Test cricket and most of us here would agree that we do not have time to watch the match for a whole day. I generally go for the highlights rather than checking the score.

I agree. Test cricket is more "classical" and it needs more skills. When legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Alan Donald, Glen McGrath, Shane Warne.etc play test cricket, it is a treat to watch. But for the new fans, who are in their teens and 20s, test format is not very appealing. To tell the truth, no one has 40 hours to spare, to go through an entire match. Even I used to watch a lot of test cricket 10-15 years ago. But now I restrict myself to some very important series such as the Ashes, WTC finals and Border-Gavaskar trophy.

Hi Guys, A pretty huge "Behind the Bet" coming up Thursday.. Mr. Jonty Rhodes. For those Cricket fans, this should be a great session!! Growing up in South Africa and making his way all the way to the top level of International Cricket, Jonty put his own mark on the game through his athletic fielding and ability to get to balls that no other cricketer had a chance too! Jonty is currently assisting in the IPL format but is also a part-time coach of the Swedish Cricket Federation. This was a massive coup for the Cricketing countries "Outside the Test Rankings" and I can't wait to hear his story! regards, Steve. Sportsbet.io EDIT: Hi guys, sorry for the advert, but I thought this thread would be the perfect place to let you know this is going on.. Even if you don't have an account with us, sign up and tune into this amazing opportunity.. cheers all!

Now the Australian domestic season has been hit by COVID. The match between Queensland Bulls and Tasmanian Tigers was abandoned, after 4 new cases were reported in Queensland. To clarify, none of the players or their contacts were infected, but Tasmania refused to continue with the tour and returned home. All the Shield matches involving New South Wales and Victoria are currently on hold because of the ongoing pandemic in these states. Queensland becomes the third state to join the list. The other three first class sides (Western, Southern and Tasmania) haven't reported any cases from their territories.

I watch the first 10 overs of the match in the morning, watch some overs of the game when I have time in the noon, and watch the highlights of the match in my spare time at the end of the day. It is difficult to watch 100 overs of an ODI match continuously. In ODIs I enjoy the first 20 overs and the last 10 overs. It is very boring to enjoy 5 days of test match.

During my college days I used to have plenty of free time and it was not unusual for me to watch an entire test spanning 5 days. But since I started working, it has become almost impossible to spare that much time. Even more so, after getting married. I don't think that I have watched an entire test match ever since I got my first job. And the same goes with my friend circle as well. I don't know anyone among my friends who watch test cricket on a regular basis these days. But there are a few pensioners in my neighborhood who do so.

Even if you don't have an account with us, sign up and tune into this amazing opportunity.. cheers all! First Brett Lee and now Jonty Rhodes, congratulation! Both are very respectable and has a sizable fan following in my country. This thread is not active nowadays as there is no test series going on but plz feel free to repost this in T-20 thread for more eyeballs, majority of punters are active there due to IPL. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5102095.0

Someone enjoys a test match for a full 5 days!
In the cricket, test match is the match of patience. 5 day match just imagine with deeply analysis, more the 100 overs one side daily just a ton of patience. I have not enough patience to cover a test match in the front of television or stadium 🏟️.
