It's funny that Satoshi will just come out to ask for a new name and create another Bitcoin, how can we be so sure that if ever we are talking to the real Satoshi, and after ten years, I don't think it will be fucked up, but if it happens I will just call it NewBitcoin(nbtc) this is to avoid confusion, we should still link the old Bitcoin to a new one.

Bitcoin is great because it doesn't try to make it electronic by name and confuses the lawmakers because it's like gold in gold coins and it's also like electronic cash in it's bit part.

I don't know what is the reason why Satoshi came up with the name "Bitcoin" but I was still satisfied with it's name. Bit-coin. Also, if I would have a chance to choose other name I will call it Irecoin lol. Came from my daughter's name. Anyway, your suggested name was hard to remember and hard to pronounce.

Anyway, I don't believe in rebranding or changing of names of coins. I think I would still call it Bitcoin. The name is easy to be recalled and trusted by the huge majority of Bitcoin community members. A change of name might lose a lot of supporters.

I would call it Bitcoin 2.0 - no need to try to rebrand itself to flee from the past, better admit mistakes and tell everyone that you have learned from them. But this question is way too improbable, Bitcoin will never be renamed, even if something horrible happens, the devs would just fix it and carry on. If there will be split, Bitcoin will still be Bitcoin, even if it will be a minority chain.

If im not mistaken there was a thread here before on bitcoin discussion about renaming bitcoin  . they say that bitcoin will be renamed but i dont know if that is true or its only a rumor , now there is this thread again about renaming bitcoin  . imo bitcoin is already a nice name and i dont like to be renamed it by someone else because this will become unrecognizable to others and it might affect its performance

If there is any means to rename Bitcoin I would or will name it "Egbigere" meaning our Freedom from oppression. The government had been on us and has oppressed us for long time, and with the advent of Bitcoin they are going to seize in due course. There will be much more name others will give it but that's just my opinion.

I would prefer either Bitgold, BitCash or BitDollar (the first one being the no.1 preference, since I don't want to give any association with fiat currency). The "coin" part has been causing quite a lot of trouble for BTC ever since its creation in 2009. The proponents of Bitcoin has used this to their advantage, to give an impression that BTC is not readily divisible. Many of the noobs think that if you want to purchase BTC, you need to go for one full coin. They don't readily understand the concept of purchasing 0.1 BTC or 0.01 BTC. They'll ask how is it possible to divide a coin. Also this gives an impression that Bitcoin is expensive ($10K per coin, when compared to $220 for Ether). I personally know a few guys, who opted for alts in 2014 and 2015 saying that Bitcoin is too expensive.

The name bitcoin is short and crisp. It is something to do with bits and bytes being the basic block of any computer program and a currency based on them. I think thats where Satoshi got the name from.

Coming back to topic, none of us are qualified enough that we can rename bitcoin but for the sake of discussion, I would not rename it anyhow. Renaming or like previous topics in this forum "rebranding" does not change anything - it is nothing but a changing of your room;s wallpaper to cover up the finer details - which is why failed blockchain projects (make that "scam disguised ICOs") rebrand and rename their projects in hopes of fooling people into buying them.

Keep the name as it is and thats all.

Bitcoin is a perfect name. But if I were to name it some other, I'd name it Cryptbit.
I don't prefer to call it a coin, it's divisible to a lowest decimal/fractions of a unit, why would you call it a coin?
It's based on cryptography and is a digital token so, Cryptbit is a perfect name for the bitcoin I would have invented.

I think I would prefer bitcoins only , because the name itself has such a history and everyday people are fighting for it , the government is banning and there are major institutions trying to keep it from being banned and protecting the name .
