Need help please..back in February 2010, what wallets were use?

Back in February 2010, dwdollar founded BitcoinMarket and sold 333 bitcoin= 1USD on his website...
I would like to know, wich wallets were using at this moment if you bought on his website?!

I couldn't find anything more than a screenshot about BitcoinMarket.

Someone has more details? Cheers

Im positive it was already using wallet.dat files since day one because I remember compiling a 2010 bitcoin client. I reckon there was no encryption yet. I guess he was running a very rudimentary setup back then, that is, running a node 24/7 and manually validating withdraws. SPV wallets didn't arrive until 2011. From the wiki:

Trading on the site began on March 17th, 2010[1]

A major update to the site occurred in March, 2011. Among the changes were: smaller minimum trade size, 24 X 7 trading, and some steps to help ensure that payment would be made for trades that execute.

Though the site at one time was used for trading using PayPal as payment method, fraud caused the exchange to discontinue PayPal trading on June 4, 2011[2].

The Bitcoin Market website showed a graph of the Bitcoin exchange rate in US Dollars. This data was also offered in JSON format.

I’m pretty sure Bitcoin Qt/Core never supported seed mnemonics. Back in the old days you actually had to backup its wallet file constantly to get the new generated private keys (after some spending transactions).

Yep. Bitcoin Core didn't contain a HD (Hierarchical Deterministic) wallet until 2016:

Before this implementation Bitcoin Qt didn't derive its addresses from a seed but at random (hence why you had to regularly backup your wallet file).

I’m pretty sure that would be very hard to tell with just the adress alone.

You’ll probably need more information. (Bitcoinmarket database or a former employee?)

In his original thread i only see a reference to paypal though. I doubt they accepted CC, but i could also very well be wrong.

You mean where they are stored/who owns them? Again, probably impossible to tell. Only the site operators could possibly link someone to a withdraw adress. (Either via their paypal, or their card(?) which by the way, would’ve been trivially easy to fake back in 2010. I doubt KYC was actually even required for such small amounts.)

The address you posted actual bought 3233.17BTC ~= $38,132,403.49 now, in the year you mentioned and I'm not so sure there's possibility to know if those BTC were bought through credit card or paypal then but the BTCs are automatically saved in the wallet private keys which you'll find in the wallet.dat since bitcoin Qt/Core never support mnemonic seeds.

Hmmm so there wasnt mnemonics seeds  and private keys were on Bitcoin QT.. I can say goodbye to my hopes... last year,  I slow away my old laptop in rabbish.. ( it was borken) I remember about some wallet.dat  I used long time ago..

Maybe...I saved it on a hard driver somewhere, need to fix it( also broken) then see if I left anything somewhere..

If anything new, I promise writing again at here..

I'm going back to my country ,maybe on this year and then will see for fix it

Why not take out your hard disk from the broken laptop and use "enclosure" or any HDD to USB adapter to connect the hard disk to working PC. and then use software like "Everything" to find the exact term "wallet.dat" it will be easy to find it using the everything search utility tool. Just put the possible name of your wallet.dat or default_wallet.dat it will show instantly but if the wallet name is incorrect you can't find it.

You can also go directly to this path C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin and look for wallet folder.
If the folder does not exist maybe bitcoin-qt is not the right wallet you are looking for.

Wiki stated that "paper wallets were popular between 2011 and 16", the first generation tool wasn't documented.
But it said "popular" means that paper wallets may have been available before 2011.

It's possible to manually create one using "dumpprivkey" command from an offline newly generated wallet.dat.
Some might have used this method.

The way you generated a private key in 2009/2010 was with the official client. There weren't other implementations, and there weren't SPV services until 2011 ish so there werent any "blockchain.info" webwallets, let alone Electrums and so on. So Bitcoin-qt was it.

If you wanted to buy on the ancient markets (like bitcoin2cash) then you had to manually do the whole thing. Send an email, wait for a deposit address.. the whole lot. I guess you could have automated this with javascript by having a ton of deposit address and hand them on request but I reckon it was really primitive stuff and you had to email dwola which I think was the admin of that site or he ran a similar one.
