Posts are only merged if they are posted back-to-back by the OP while replies to other users are posted as separate posts so it won't create any trash posts nor would look messy. It's like this thread:

Posts are merged manually here which is time-consuming and unnecessary work for the staff.

What I meant is even with tools, post merging should be done manually, because I doubt that tools can differentiate between posts of OP to update their projects (like announcements on wallet upgrades, exchange listings, product releases, and so on), and replies of OP to questions from their projects' community members. It's too hard for tools to completely automatic merge posts.
Consequently, it is the best if OPs fully know their rights in the forum, and forum rules.
