I know Ethereum keeps progressing so as Bitcoin and might be able to replace the father of crypto in the future but I think it won't be soon. Having Ethereum will probably give chance to other altcoins out there to have their own limelight after Ethereum does. But I still do believe that they won't be able to beat Bitcoin's success so they'll just remain as altcoins forever.

Exactly. In terms of technicalities between both cryptocurrencies, Ethereum wins by a long shot. But in terms of market capitalization and pricing, that's another story. I believe that at this point in time, is relatively impossible to replace Bitcoin as it has grown into an immense Blockchain ecosystem. There are thousands of supporters in Bitcoin, while that's not the case with Ethereum. The pioneer cryptocurrency has managed to establish a trusted branding over the years. Being the original cryptocurrency that started this craze, it's no wonder why it has retained its top spot on the market.

Despite this, I believe that Ethereum will be here to stay for a very long time. It doesn't matter if its able to replace Bitcoin or not within the future. What truly matters is if Ethereum is capable of delivering real usability for the mainstream world. And so far, the world's second largest cryptocurrency by market cap has done a great job at it. As of now, Ethereum serves as a great complement to the Bitcoin blockchain by providing smart contracts functionality. In areas where Bitcoin cannot fulfill certain tasks, Ethereum fills the gap. With a supportive community and active development team, Ethereum will last a lifetime. Just my opinion Smiley

100% agree with you. There are still very long prospects for Ethereum in the crypto world. The blockchain technology that they have developed has really provided many real benefits that can be used by people or online companies over the years.I like seeing the relationship between brother and sister to bitcoin and ethereum now.
I think as long as crypto is still needed by people, these two coins will continue to exist.

it is inconceivable if ETh replaces the position of BTC as a major crypto, if at one time ETH replaces BTC then all ETH-based tokens will become dominant in every market, until now how many ETH-given tokens have circulated in the trade. And of course projects that use ETH as a means of exchange / payment are guaranteed to experience popularity, tokens that were worthless will be valuable along with the explosion of ETH. But what will happen to BTC when ETH deposed BTC?  Grin

Technologically it could be Ethereum will replace Bitcoin. However, as a crypto currency, in my opinion bitcoin will never be replaced by any coins. Bitcoin is a symbol of crypto. People are more familiar with bitcoin than crypto, this is a fact that I have encountered. So I think that at any time Bitcoin will still be the main star of crypto
especially with people's trust in bitcoin making bitcoin dominate the market cap in the world of cryptocurrency. and I think it is very difficult for ethereum to replace it, especially at this time IEO does not need as much ethereum as when ICO used to be

Bitcoin although has remained as just a store of value as far as its use case is concerned, I doubt it can ever be replaced by any other cryptocurrency in the near future in terms of its position in coin marketcap ranking and even usage as a means of exchange in our daily lives. Even in terms of adoption, Bitcoin is in a lead roll despite the advancement of other blockchain project in terms of technological approach. Taking over bitcoin might happen but it will not happen soon.

Yes, now most of the people are not showing interest towards the ICO investments, previously there was a huge demand for the ETH at the time of ICO's. Now when IEO's came to picture most of the companies list in the exchanges are asking their own specified coins.

I completely agree with you and I also believe that Ethereum may one day replace Bitcoin. I am pretty sure that will be so. To your words, I want to add that Ethereum transactions are faster and cheaper than Bitcoin.

Ethereum, being the world's second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has all the potential of replacing Bitcoin in the future. It's more than just a cryptocurrency, being a platform for the development and execution of smart contracts (aka dApps). With ETH, it's possible to launch alternative cryptocurrencies without the need to start a Blockchain from scratch. It's also possible to use the ETH blockchain for other purposes such as voting, proof of identity, verification of documents, and more. In contrast, Bitcoin's only use is for finance where it cannot be implemented in other areas by its own.

Given all of the benefits Ethereum provides on top of Bitcoin, it makes me wonder whenever it'll be able to replace the pioneer cryptocurrency within the future? As long as, Ethereum keeps progressing in development and mainstream acceptance, it'll be much closer to Bitcoin every step of the way. What are your thoughts? Huh
I think that will happen soon when sharks no longer need bitcoin. Bitcoin is one of the types of assets not really valuable. Its functions are getting worse and worse than the alts that are being upgraded over time.
one day the cost of bitcoin transactions is too expensive and a continuous delay takes place, when Ethereum will take the throne.

Sharks and whale need bitcoin in which its dominant crypto currency in the world of crypto currency community. My own perception its impossible to replace bitcoin by ethereum in as I refer on the previous years performance. I believe someday bitcoin will definitely increase its value as long as many users and investors here still support the crypto currency.

the possibility is indeed very small considering the continued supply of bitcoin and the demands on bitcoin that are always there while the crypto market still hasn't lost buyers. but if that happens someday, it looks not only as a crypto top, but etherum will also be the number 1 smart contract for new tokens to be launched. of course seeing when the conditions where etherum becomes the most expensive and number one, of course the developer will always consider etherum as a smart contract with the aim of getting a high exchange rate.

I would like to say this: with the progress of the team in ensuring that the project move forward and faster, one could say that; the possibility of ethereum getting over bitcoin must surface in the nearest future. Although, the upcoming upgrade to 2.0 will give a clue to their determination of how they can bush the project. Future of cryptocurrency is unpredictable and anything can happen to any coin either be it the first or last to be created.

You should review your knowledge in this market because of the fact that Bitcoin is decisive for the existence of crypto and all fluctuations of Bitcoin will affect all altcoins. Now Bitcoin uses old technology and cannot be applied to any field but this is always the coin that whale holds the most in the market because if you have a large amount of Bitcoin, you can completely manipulate crypto.

yep, bitcoin doesn't have many big uses like ethereum. but the birth of ethereum is from bitcoin. There are many reasons for ethereum to surpass Bitcoin, but the trust in Bitcoin today is still very large. the main problem of bitcoin is there is no specific development for bitcoin, so technology is like old. but ethereum always makes progress. which is more advanced, the greater the violation. the current use of ethereum is much for scam project. so trust in ethereum can't be more than bitcoin. I think that if Ethereum can separate the project scam from the real project, it will foster people's trust.

It is a given fact that Ethereum has a real use case compare to Bitcoin, and it was developed to improve Bitcoin to expand its capabilities, and also it is secure, decentralize.
Ethereum also has much potential in terms of sheer utility and market capitalization. But still it cannot replace Bitcoin, not now and not tomorrow or not too soon. It is just like Bitcoin is the main cast, and Ethereum is the side kick of the main cast.

Impossible with ethereum price always depend with bitcoin, how come eth can replace with bitcoin position because eth always down when bitcoin down and up little when bitcoin raise with higher price, after eth not have basic connection with bitcoin maybe can make eth replace with bitcoin place and only take moment with bitcoin become higher price but eth still down and lower.

the only advantage of eth is that it can create tokens but i dont think btc can do that althought btc can also do send and receive payments and also works decent if use for investment  .

eth can replace bitcoin but i dont know if what year/months it would happen but if ever that happens i will still accept it . ill accept my defeat because i said to myself that my vote will always go for btc  but why feel sad when btc is still useable after the change in the ranking right ?

If it does then it's safe to say that Bitcoin cannot remain as king of cryptocurrency. And this means that any other coin could reach the top even some people consider time-wise in investing. I'm talking about bitcoin, it stayed at the top since it's the first currency. But with Ethereum replacing bitcoin, this only means that any other coins have big chances on making it to the top even if it was just created just now. All it needs is some trust.

I think Ethereum has a lot of good opportunities to rise up too. but going to the top still takes a lot of effort as well as luck. I believe Ethereum will be able to do it, do you believe it?
