Atletico Madrid gave it their all, even though I didn't think they would win because Sevilla seemed to be playing not to let any goals get in. I knew from the start that the game would be difficult and that someone would need to be cautious. I don't think it's too much to expect more of Atletico or Barcelona's rivalry because after all at the moment it's 7 points difference but with Girona's status now although it's very good but the situation is still not safe actually so when talking about opportunities with a very long time because we are only in the middle of the season actually the chance is still very much there in this case.

Basically Atletico are not bad at all at the moment although yes, the reality is that Atletico have a 7 point difference with Real Madrid and Girona in 1st and 2nd place but anyway, the reality is that Atletico are also in third place right now and even Atletico still above Barcelona despite only goal difference. And this season, Atletico Madrid has a new opponent, Girona, which is putting pressure on Atletico Madrid to occupy 3rd place because Barcelona is definitely also fighting to occupy that position because Barcelona seem to be losing grounds on points with Real Madrid and Girona with its current performance, so at least Barcelona will fight for position 2 or 3.

Girona have been in better form than Atletico Madrid this season. However, Girona failed to win against Real Betis in the last match. They drew the match 1-1. And because of this the team is now second in the table. Girona will certainly be looking to reclaim the top spot in the table. And so the players of Girona will try their best to win against Atletico Madrid in today's match. Girona is the stronger team in the home match. However, Atletico Madrid's attack is quite strong. If Atletico Madrid's defenders can play well in this match, Atletico Madrid has a chance to score points. However, if Atletico Madrid's defense is weak in this match, then Atletico Madrid will not be able to score points against Girona.

Yeah Girona have been doing very well right from the beginning of this season till date and since from the beginning they have only one serious rival which is real Madrid but however Girona has been trying to have maintain the first position for a while now, so real Madrid was just looking for a slightest mistake from Girona so that they could utilize the opportunity immediately and push Girona down from the table.

So it was quite unfortunate for Girona to have played exactly the way real Madrid had wish for them because on that Girona match against Real Betis I was very confident they will win after Girona had score Real Betis because I believe on the performance of Girona this season but however there inability to defend their goal very well has cost them there position and the funny part of it was that Girona was able to defend their goal till 88 minutes before real Betis was able to equalize, so perhaps with the look of things now I doubt if real Madrid can easily lose a match from now so there is a higher chance for real Madrid to remain on the first position till the end of the league.

Girona definitely made a mistake by giving Real Madrid a chance. Now it is going to be very hard for them to get ahead of Real Madrid. I know that right now Madrid is only ahead in terms of goal difference. But I think that might change really quickly. Because Real Madrid knows very well how to take advantage of the chances that they have in hand. I am not saying that the performance from Girona has not been good. The performance has been great from them. And I haven't probably seen anyone give such a competition to Real Madrid and Barcelona in a long time. But I think from now Real Madrid is going to be at the top of the table.
