Don't you think these big production company like Warner Bros, Universal and Netflix should do a movie about Bitcoin?

Not really a documentary, but any kind of genre, like action, horror, comedy I think if the story and the plot is good, it could make a box office

We need to more exposure regarding bitcoin but it's more effective if the movie focuses on blockchain, the technology itself. Through this movie, those people that watched the movie will have an idea about it and will engage in innovative studies.

Another advantage of this is to produce a good impression to people that is ignorant about advanced technology like the blockchain and the bitcoin. Now, they will learn and know the possibilities of blockchain can do in our society. It will engage those people to adopt the usage of bitcoin especially in our daily transactions.

I know there's plenty of documentations about Bitcoin. The problem is making a movie about Bitcoin would have to find a middle ground between a documentary + some other theme.

Any theme other than documentaries are going to be not wholly based around Bitcoin itself (because frankly, I'm not sure it would gather that much of an audience). Bitcoin Heist is a good example of this (action, little bit of doc)

There are videos already in the past that do include about of Bitcoin, i just can't name it because i forgot what was it. Anyway, there are documentaries videos in youtube about Bitcoin if you want to look at them. I think making a movie about Bitcoin is kind of boring since it's like a movie about currency, and i haven't seen any movies talking about gold, metal, dollar, and if there is it's all just about stealing, nothing's excited about it.

crypto movie is a flop because it somehow lack the action and excitement that moviegoers are looking for. kurt russell is a big star on his own but his presence didnt help in attracting the moviegoers.
maybe the next crypto movie should justify its existence, not only showing money-laundering activities...but how can an ordinary individual will benefit from it.

It's a Thai movie I'm looking for one that has an English translation, I'd like to see how Bitcoin was used as a story plot in this movie, I think a Hollywood version will be good, it's an action-suspense movie.

the ICO makers in the past two years used any topic they could think of to raise money. some of their excuses to get paid for have also been so absurd, basically they saw a stupid market that were paying anybody who asked for money and they created lots of crap asking for money! all of them are scams from the beginning.

I think there's a movie that was released earlier called "CRYPTO" starring Kurt Russell. Just search that on Google or Youtube.

But to be honest, I don't like their storyline because it's more on suspense rather than promoting the positive side of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The suspense part in the trailer is that they're using Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies for bad purposes and shooting around bad guys out there.

There is also a cartoon video series called "Bitcoin and Friends", and they're on Episode 3 now. They just need more funds to continue the series, as they're relying more on donations.

I truly believe there will be a Bitcoin movie one day promoting its positive and real use case rather than illegal activities or suspense. Just sayin'.

There's this movie "crypto", a crime drama thriller movie. Someone posted about it before, and I've watched the trailer but not the whole movie. But the thing is, it's not good to promote bitcoin with that movie since the movie is about money laundering involving cryptocurrency. It shows the negative side of crypto so it could really bring fud to people. But I don't think the movie made a big impact... At first glance I taught that John Wick's coin symbolized crypto in a physical appearance but it isn't that's gold coins who stored value, it's good to have movies which really giving enough exposures where bitcoin being used, it can be in a positive approach which showed good images for this currency or

I did not find a full movie that hosted by a popular Holywood actress or maybe actor but I have seen many video thrilling regarding bitcoin.
One of them is bitcoin heist on Netflix but now when I do browsing on it it seems they are deleted. Good idea that bitcoin will become the main concept of a story in a movie and I guess it may help to promote Bitcoin as well. We already have some shows depicting the bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies in a bad way. , A movie that too saying something good about cryptocurrencies is something that needs to be funded , I think it could be beneficial but the funding part is where it sucks because most of the directors and the political leaders always consider bitcoins black money , or something they don't wanna involve with therefore we cannot actually use the existing industry to make something reasonable.

While a movie (if it turns out to be a super-hit one) will give great exposure and perhaps a motive to the audience to be involve with it but I am seeing Bitcoin is getting good exposure.

There really should be a real movie about Bitcoin. Crypto is not a real movie. It's a shit movie meant to launch itself on its popularity but to show it as a money laundering tool and dirty money of the Internet hackers.

This is the part of the unseriousness of altcoins that I have seen, If I am to judge by the number of campaigns I have done coming from entertainment industries, by now, we should have so many movies flooding the market about cryptocurrency, when I do my research about some projects that has to do with entertainment especially in the movie industry, I see a big prospect in them, but they end up not following up with it and then scamming people.

I actually saw an episode an episode on The Blacklist where the kidnappers got someone and told the family of the kidnapped to send the money in bitcoins due to the fact that they can't be tracked. There's a lot of documentary short film movie but I think that is good for promotion if something in a company in movie maker. Wow. Good eye. I have watched Deadpool several times already and I didn't even noticed that. Maybe because I was focusing on what they were saying or reading the subtitle.

Anyway, I think I have heard some mainstream movies before that will feature or featured bitcoin. I just can't remember the title since I haven't watched them yet (or even any documentaries). But I recently watched a movie entitled 'Unfriended: Dark Web'. There was a part there where bitcoin was mentioned since it was the payment used for things sold in the dark web. Apart from that, I don't know any other movies which included bitcoin.

However, by reading other comments, I think I'm going to look some up and watch it afterwards if I will be able to find the time. I have encountered movies that are produced by big companies such as Warner Bros that they are showcasing Bitcoin mining and cryptocurrencies. It may be short but it does give a ring to people who already knows Bitcoin and the people who doesn't, for instance people that are unaware will search the words that was said "Bitcoin mining". It was a movie called GooseBumps 2. Unfortunately, most of the movies that I have seen so far produced has really not been a great one, but I believe that with time, they will develop more and shoot a bitcoin movies that will get the whole world talking, and you are very much right, imagine we have movies that will be that popular to become hit of box office, imagine we also have it being bought by Netflix and shown of the satellite, it can really make a very great impact in creating awareness to the people out there who are yet to know about bitcoin.

The problem with bitcoin movie is that the story line is quite misleading. And I'm sure movies that will involved bitcoin will put in it line like being used for illegal means in the dark web. So I'm oppose to it, Hollywood movies are not that accurate in portraying everything so it might just bring bitcoin into the bad light, so to speak.

That's true, Crypto needs more piblicity through movies. I know they don't hesitate to make reference to it in some movies but those I've seen are mostly negative, In Queen of the South it was referred to as a means of laundering money. There are a couple of movies made about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. There is one movie which was made this year (2019), the title is crypto.  Another good series which also tries to introduce  the idea of digital currency and decentralization is the startup.  There are good movies about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

The year is 2140. A apocalyptic disaster hits planet Earth. Human civilization is wiped out. Humans die of starvation and disease. Bitcoin mining network is down. Bitcoin satellites are still flying around Earth. But nobody communicates to them. Hashrate dropped to 0. No new block is created. Pockets of human survivors are trying to make through their days.

Bitcoin is dead. Except, it isn’t. It’s just silent. Its enormous difficulty is still waiting for someone to mine the next block. But nobody can. Much of the mining infrastructure is destroyed. Bitcoin death prediction was wrong. Civilization can collapse but Bitcoin is still there. Without sufficient hashrate, nobody can attack the Bitcoin blockchain.

Fast forward 100 years. The year is 2240. Humans rebuilt their infrastructure. They are about to reach mining hashrate before the apocalypse. Some groups of humans are able to recover bitcoins from exchanges. Having centralized exchanges can be useful for recovery effort. The network is about to produce new blocks.

But this time, Bitcoin splits into 2 chains. Some people want to soft fork and restart mining rewards since so many coins were lost. The total theoretical supply limit of Bitcoin will be 42 million. Other people want to stick with the original supply limit of 21 million. The first group achieves majority. They took the domain name, social media handles. They anoint new leaders and proclaim themselves to be the true Bitcoin. The second group is angry. They rename their chain to Bitcoin Apocalypse to remind people that they are the Bitcoin chain before the apocalypse. And they also vow to bring apocalypse to the self-proclaimed true Bitcoin chain. Just like the forks that came before, Bitcoin Apocalypse will fade in memory.

Bitcoin is still not dead. It continues to live along with humans. It adapts to the majority consensus. It’s sneaky and controlling. It feeds and survives on human’s desire to fight and control. Bitcoin sheds its old self if necessary. It rules over the world of cryptocurrencies. Its existence seems to immune to human’s suffering and will.

You should go and watch The rise and rise of Bitcoin. Its a nice documentary with most of the important people involved into it and actually you have a lot of things to learn from it. I remember I watch it back in 2014 as soon as it went online and I was very surprising about it and I even reassemble myself on some of positions , like when he had the miners come and he had to find a way to plugged them in and get them to work , also as soon as he walks away , they start to fall off and I remember calling my girl after I was out for work telling do this , do that , start that , check this ) it was funny , I tell you that.

It seems to me that humanity learns a lot more about cryptocurrency from the media than from feature films that mention cryptocurrency.  The fact is that in the plots of many films cryptocurrency is only superficially affected, so you cannot get at least some knowledge about activities on the cryptocurrency market or about cryptocurrency in general.  Most likely, you need to watch specialized videos to get a certain amount of knowledge about cryptocurrency.  At least the films and series I have watched so far have not brought me anything new.

There are more documentaries on bitcoin, but a complete movie for bitcoin isn't available in my knowledge. More movies have begun to show bitcoin as currency. Recently one of our forum member posted a trailer of a movie in which the entire story is connected with bitcoin. If I'm not wrong, that particular movie hasn't got released yet.

What I could think of is basically the beginnings of Crypto, where a shady group of persons try to create a digital currency and named it Bitcoin. There's this movie by John Stalberg Jr, where the name of the Movie is Crypto and it's related to transactions on Blockchain and decentralization related but however the Movie isn't that popular and also has a rating of 5.3/10 on IMDB, I don't think people like movies where they have to think about a system but nvm, Maybe many didn't understand the backstory of the money.

Bitcoin has been finding it's way into television and movies for a while now.  It doesn't even seem to make news anymore.  I was watching the latest episode of Animal Kingdom and there was a scene where they were robbing some rich developers from San Francisco on their boat but were upset to find the kids using $1 bills to gamble with because they would, "settle in Bitcoin later."  It was a funny scene.  They then try to steal one of the kid's watch and it was a cheap plastic watch.  The kid said, "What did you expect, a rolex?  My Dad wears a rolex..."

One of the stories depicted from film related to bitcoin is that bitcoin is used as a medium of exchange for criminal act such as kidnapping with a ransom of bitcoin. I really don't think it's good for bitcoin while we hope that bitcoin's portrayed as a useful asset not only used in criminal case. I don't know if there are other element that lead to the message to the public that bitcoin is an asset that has a much greater potential for criminal activity. Obviously I don't like it because fiat is the currency criminals used before.

And the story goes by having not just only one main character or star, but at least 5 to 10 individuals and their different roles or encounter to bitcoin. It was quite bad and it all involved the crime of transferring crypto so to defraud an individual, which to me was a turn off and had to force myself to watch the rest of it. So sat there for the next hour and a bit just switching off my brain and tried to enjoy it for what it was.
And that was an offering to the genre.
That's all it was and had no substance behind to spur on any attention for anyone wanting to get into cryptocurrency.
It actually might sway them away from using it in the future with the bad light they put on the use to this innovation of the future.

Now one film which was a better depiction of how cryptocurreny is viewed was Silk Road.

If I am not wrong, if a film maker makes a movie about bitcoin with the site of all posetive things, then the film department does give the permission to release it on theator. Second, if the movie gets the certificate to release it, then the movie might not get that much of an audience in theator because that film might be a documentary film, and as an Asian viewer of films, there is such a low percantage of people who are interested in watching a documentary on theator.
