We need a movie about Bitcoin

I remember four years ago when a project was launched asking to get funded through ICO, the team were asking to get funded so they can create a movie about Bitcoin which will star prominent actors and actresses, but the project was a big failure because they cannot present their identity and their credentials in making a movie, they cannot even present their past movie projects.

Now it's 2019 and so many things happen in Cryptocurrency, the news is everywhere and it becomes very popular on four corners of the world.
Don't you think these big production company like Warner Bros, Universal and Netflix should do a movie about Bitcoin?

Not really a documentary, but any kind of genre, like action, horror, comedy I think if the story and the plot is good, it could make a box office
What do you think and who do you want to star if ever?

This could create massive publicity for Bitcoin.

Movies where the actors or actresses shows that they are using bitcoin to buy items or purchase valuable properties using bitcoin would be a nice idea also.

I mean in such little way, people will get curious "what is Bitcoin" and they will search for it.

I think it's possible but few people will watch this.

We need to more exposure regarding bitcoin but it's more effective if the movie focuses on blockchain, the technology itself. Through this movie, those people that watched the movie will have an idea about it and will engage in innovative studies.

Another advantage of this is to produce a good impression to people that is ignorant about advanced technology like the blockchain and the bitcoin. Now, they will learn and know the possibilities of blockchain can do in our society. It will engage those people to adopt the usage of bitcoin especially in our daily transactions.

there was a film released this year called "crypto"---it was a crime thriller involving bitcoin. it was in movie theaters and starred kurt russell, who is a huge movie star in the USA. but it did horribly in the box office and hardly anyone noticed it. the plot sounds pretty horrible:

if it's not a documentary, then it'll probably be like all the crappy hacker movies over the years, nonsensically weaving bitcoin into some larger crime-based plot.

I know there's plenty of documentations about Bitcoin. The problem is making a movie about Bitcoin would have to find a middle ground between a documentary + some other theme.

Any theme other than documentaries are going to be not wholly based around Bitcoin itself (because frankly, I'm not sure it would gather that much of an audience). Bitcoin Heist is a good example of this (action, little bit of doc)

There are videos already in the past that do include about of Bitcoin, i just can't name it because i forgot what was it. Anyway, there are documentaries videos in youtube about Bitcoin if you want to look at them. I think making a movie about Bitcoin is kind of boring since it's like a movie about currency, and i haven't seen any movies talking about gold, metal, dollar, and if there is it's all just about stealing, nothing's excited about it.

Yes i watche d this movie the story is very excitement about bitcoin stealing of the hacker if not wrong, this movie show to the people how much bitcoin expensively.

crypto movie is a flop because it somehow lack the action and excitement that moviegoers are looking for. kurt russell is a big star on his own but his presence didnt help in attracting the moviegoers.
maybe the next crypto movie should justify its existence, not only showing money-laundering activities...but how can an ordinary individual will benefit from it.

It's a Thai movie I'm looking for one that has an English translation, I'd like to see how Bitcoin was used as a story plot in this movie, I think a Hollywood version will be good, it's an action-suspense movie.

Some movies have been already made and released.
You can watch "The bitcoin Gospel" in this film, the development of bitcoin and also replacing of fiat by bitcoin is discussed.

Thanks for posting this one, it's a documentary but we need something that has a plot that will revolve around the use of Bitcoin and how it can help people, these two movies are not really popular until we really need one created by the top production companies in Hollywood.

the ICO makers in the past two years used any topic they could think of to raise money. some of their excuses to get paid for have also been so absurd, basically they saw a stupid market that were paying anybody who asked for money and they created lots of crap asking for money! all of them are scams from the beginning.

it has already happened multiple times, most of it portraying bitcoin in a negative light. others mentioned a couple of cases nobody mentioned: Dope

I think there's a movie that was released earlier called "CRYPTO" starring Kurt Russell. Just search that on Google or Youtube.

But to be honest, I don't like their storyline because it's more on suspense rather than promoting the positive side of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The suspense part in the trailer is that they're using Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies for bad purposes and shooting around bad guys out there.

There is also a cartoon video series called "Bitcoin and Friends", and they're on Episode 3 now. They just need more funds to continue the series, as they're relying more on donations.

I truly believe there will be a Bitcoin movie one day promoting its positive and real use case rather than illegal activities or suspense. Just sayin'.

There's this movie "crypto", a crime drama thriller movie. Someone posted about it before, and I've watched the trailer but not the whole movie. But the thing is, it's not good to promote bitcoin with that movie since the movie is about money laundering involving cryptocurrency. It shows the negative side of crypto so it could really bring fud to people. But I don't think the movie made a big impact... So it would be great if there's a movie about crypto but with positive side to promote and encourage people about bitcoin.

At first glance I taught that John Wick's coin symbolized crypto in a physical appearance but it isn't that's gold coins who stored value, it's good to have movies which really giving enough exposures where bitcoin being used, it can be in a positive approach which showed good images for this currency or
since most of people thinks about negativity it can also deal with illegal backdoor transactions where it can trigger more interest to the viewers.

Movie can bring more attentions and publicity, especially if being produced by well known  production company.

I agree with you , if someone brave create movie in 2019 about bitcoin, it will be very good idea and make bitcoin more popular but sure they will hit huge critics from Government.

I was very excited to watch this movie, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crypto_(film) but I was so disappointed as it was not what I was expected.
Turns out that the movie was more on the money laundering using crypto, I was thinking of a movie that is inspiring, like a person discovers BTC in the early stage and how his life goes after. Hopefully they'll create more, so they could serve different interest from crypto enthusiast.

A good idea. I love watching movies, and I also want a movie about Bitcoin. I have been with Bitcoin for a long time, so it would be nice to have a movie that I can enjoy and ponder the time before.
I'd rather have a comedy action movie combined than a dry documentary. A Hollywood movie with a supercar is my hope.
