There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Thanks, Got Ryzen 7 1700 benchmark and submitted it ( https://randomx.monerobenchmarks.info/shareExportCPU.php?s=YzNwUlJrRkJQVDA9) but didn't get i3, yet you can submit it anytime you want. for curiosity, are you using XMRig on benchmark mode or mining some RandomX coin like loki or wownero?

Sent the data for i3-6100 again. Yes, I was mining Loki but stopped it after 24h as the profitability was in negative. I wanted to test how the CPU performs hashing the new algorithm. I hope it helps.

Still, I'm sure it's not going to be profitable at all. Once XMR has moved to RandomX algo. The whole lot is going to switch to it as CPU is readily accessible to any. Anyway, it is going to do wonders for securing XMR though.

VPS are already very restrictive on their TOS. Malware more than before will be targeting CPU desktop/workstations.

If VPS CPU mining will be available then there will be so many unused resources from a lot of masternode projects will have a good use too... If the mn projects will pay for their VPS cost and even profit then it will be great.

I am so exciting about this, like mining Btc on 2009 LOL Last time I hear news update about Randomx on youtube chanel Red Panda Mining 4 days ago, so let's see what happen on 17:00 UTC on 30th Nov Indeed. Right now, there is a lot of enthusiasm regarding RandomX and mining which I didn't see from a long time. 2018 was a disaster as basically asics were deployed on all gpu coins. Preliminary information thread regarding the scheduled protocol upgrade of November 30: https://np.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/d884zt/preliminary_information_thread_regarding_the/This is a post on reddit, focused on intel: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/dbhkzr/intel_cpus_are_junk_compare_to_ryzen_but_still/Also, Just updated Mining software section added: youtubers, overclocking guides for AMD & INTEL, RAM setup, etc: https://randomx.monerobenchmarks.info/miningSoftware.php

New feature was added to get some metrics CPU vs CPUhttps://randomx.monerobenchmarks.info/cpuVScpu.phpThe point of this feature is to measure average hashrate (H/s), average TDP, Hash per watts between two CPU Models based on RandomX benchmarks submited on site. Also, Overclocking guides have been added for AMD Ryzen, FX, athlon, phenom & Intel (Kaby, Skylake, Haswell, Ivy, Sandy): https://randomx.monerobenchmarks.info/miningSoftware.php#overclocking

I can confirm the numbers for a 3700X. Mine is mining Loki at ~7000 H/s atm. Miner is XMRig 4.3.1-beta. For comparison my old clunker PC with an i5 4460 CPU does 1450 H/s on the same algo/miner with 3 threads.

Been out of the loop for a while and didn't realize that it was also GPU mineable. Looking at the scores it seems to be really CPU friendly.
I got some old single core Sempron and Celeron processors from the Litecoin days, anyone know what speeds you can expect with those ? Seems that the RX series is onpare to the other GPUs like with most other algos.
Regarding the CPU abuse, I think most weren't rented VPS or AWS but these were some infected botnet computers which mined in the background for unsuspecting people. This is actually the reason why they switched the algo originally from the original one that the coin was released in. Wonder how it will perform this time around.

in the end profit will determine its value, good seeing ryzen 3xxx doing good, this is good, something that a cpu is more useful than a gpu.
3900x or 3950x owners will be happy with this.

Morning. I tested the RandomX bench on both a Raspberry Pi 3 b+ and Pi 4 and submitted results several weeks ago. I wanted to test out both units on the testnet pool however running into issues installing XMRig. From the github I downloaded the source, built the build folder, changed directory into the build folder then ran cmake .. and once that completed ran make make ran into the following errors. Any ideas? I may test further on a fx8350 linux mint box that I have up running or my Ryzen 2600. But was curious on the pi's usage Errors are below: In file included from /home/pi/mining/test/src/crypto/cn/SSE2NEON.h:123, from /home/pi/mining/test/src/crypto/cn/soft_aes.h:31, from /home/pi/mining/test/src/crypto/cn/CryptoNight_arm.h:34, from /home/pi/mining/test/src/crypto/cn/CnHash.cpp:35: /usr/lib/gcc/arm-linux-gnueabihf/8/include/arm_neon.h: In function ‘__m128i _mm_set_epi32(int, int, int, int)’: /usr/lib/gcc/arm-linux-gnueabihf/8/include/arm_neon.h:10369:1: error: inlining failed in call to always_inline ‘int32x4_t vld1q_s32(const int32_t*)’: target specific option mismatch vld1q_s32 (const int32_t * __a) ^~~~~~~~~

I ran this on 2 different Raspberry Pi 4's. Both on 64 bit O/S Raspbian. One of them with the kernal update to 64 as shown below Linux Goober-Pi4 4.19.75-v8+ #1270 SMP PREEMPT Tue Sep 24 18:59:17 BST 2019 aarch64 GNU/Linux

Thanks Hey, doing some reading I suggest you to increase swap area ( https://www.linuxtechi.com/extend-swap-space-using-swap-file-in-linux/) and use gcc 7+. And try again. Yet, It is better if you add this issue on XMrig's github to get help: https://github.com/xmrig/xmrig/issues

Makes no sense to me why anyone should be excited about coins moving to RandomX. The cost per added hashrate for RandomX is so much higher than that for a GPU mineable coin and if you think the network hashrate of a RandomX coin will be low, think again. Just take a look at the Loki network hashrate as an example of what's in store for all CPU mineable coins. It's 71 MH vs 11KH from a single Ryzen 3900X!! How many Ryzen 3900X do you need to make enough coins to ROI?

not sure what your issue is here, yeah the ryzen is a beast at random x , but its a beast at every other cpu algo out there anyways. its 12 cores on a consumer chip basically we have never seen this type of power for non server builds. i mean its expected it would destroy every cpu tuned algo out there, which random x is and it does, you can buy a ryzen 3600 for 229 and get 6k on randomx , not sure what the issue is

Will there ever be a riser card/board equivalent for CPUs?

Profitability on RandomX, only after fork is done on November 30 so you will have: network hashrate and monero price to do the math.

That's all part of the cost per hash. It's no different than an algo with a lower hashrate requiring more CPU (or GPU) power to produce the same hash. What matters is how much the hash is worth. Yes Intel has Xeon Phi compute addin boards with up to 72 cores with 4:1 hyperthreading for 288 threads. The're compute beasts but very expensive and not suitable for mining due to the low mem/thread ratio. It maxes out at 384 GB which is similar to the cache/thread ratio of most desktop CPUs.

The issue here is the amount of hardware that needs to be bought for a CPU algo. For a GPU algo, all you need to increase hashrates is to buy the GPU and riser card. Now, you will have to get the whole shebang (PSU, memory, MB etc.) How will this be ever profitable? Will there ever be a riser card/board equivalent for CPUs?
That's all part of the cost per hash. It's no different than an algo with a lower hashrate requiring more CPU (or GPU) power to produce the same hash. What matters is how much the hash is worth. Yes Intel has Xeon Phi compute addin boards with up to 72 cores with 4:1 hyperthreading for 288 threads. The're compute beasts but very expensive and not suitable for mining due to the low mem/thread ratio. It maxes out at 384 GB which is similar to the cache/thread ratio of most desktop CPUs. If Loki network hashrate is any indication, it's not going to be profitable for RandomX

Well Loki cant show anything. XMR alone will bring 100x times USD value in daily rewards. Loki and Wownero together are traded about 2k usd daily. Thats ridic low. There will probably be a lot of coins following monero, probably more than ever before. So the market will be so much bigger for bad actors to dilute. Still could go either way.... PS: Epic Cash based on Randomx shows 1.3-1.4usd per day for 3900x. Dont know if it's accurate though as havent had time to try. Meiby someone could test just for lulz

Shoot... It may be time to fire up my 100+ Xeon X5660 CPUs and my bank of Dell R815 servers again (120+ Opteron 6380).
Exciting stuff... I've had a lot of my farm turned off lately.
My X5660 CPUs are doing ~1400-1500 server side after 24 hours. Not bad! Excited to turn the Dell's back on and give them a go =) I have read they should do around 11kh each total. Sure hope there is a decent profit window when Monero ports. ----- Using a profit calc right now it shows 1500 H/S at $0.45 a day (which has good profit margin on my XEON chips) and the R815s at 11kh at $3.39… and I would guess it's a good assumption network hash rate will drop A LOT after the fork? That would be nice.

That hashrate is equivalent to 11K Ryzen 3900X units and that is only from a single miner. Once XMR forks, where do you think he will be diverting his hashrate to. And how many more of these giants lurking around waiting for the xmr fork. So, I'd say good luck trying to make a good profit from CPU mining.

Do your math, it's only 1400 Ryzen 3900X, not 11K, but I think in reality it's more like 10,000 old Xeon or Opteron farm. I don't think there are more than 10-20 such giant farms out there. Loki network is much bigger than 17 MH, and there's only 1 such farm mining it.

Anyone tried the older 2990x threadripper yet on random-x ? guessing the new trx40 processors wil be a lot faster than the 3900x cpu...

I need help running RandomX benchmark with largepages enabled.
My bat file content:
benchmark --mine --jit --largePages --threads 8 --init 8 --nonces 100000
Result:
RandomX benchmark v1.1.1 - full memory mode (2080 MiB) - JIT compiled mode - hardware AES mode - large pages mode Initializing (8 threads) ... ERROR: Cache allocation failed To use large pages, please enable the "Lock Pages in Memory" policy and reboot.
I have in "Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Lock pages in memory" set to Everyone
Using windows 10
Any ideas?

It's time to turn on some servers, is HiveOS a good option to boot these servers and mining RandomX? or does anyone have any better suggestions?

What's your hardware specs? Probably not enough L2/L3 cache to run 8 threads as RandomX requires: 16 KiB of L1 cache, 256 KiB of L2 cache and 2 MiB of L3 cache per mining thread.

The RYZEN 5 3600 seems like a pretty good compromise without having to break the bank and looks to be similar in performance to the 3700 but the 3900x is a beast and is very tempting. I imagine the new Threadrippers are going to have some amazing results on RandomX but will probably be cost prohibitive.

Right now my i7 3930k making 300h/s on cryptonightR and it values as 0.10$ for a day consuming 130w . if im not wrong it will pay me about 0.25$ with randomx.im sure it will pay this for 2-3 days then after it will be again like 0.10$.All people waiting something huge but results becomes same at the end of the road.cryptonight always paid for cpu very little.so dont be sooo exited.

It's not that cryptonight paid so little for CPU. It's a fact that there are many more CPUs active at the moment rather than GPUs. So, there will be a lot more CPUs mining RandomX algorithm for Monero thus reducing profits drastically. If it's profitable for people, they are going to mine and they will activate each and every bit of CPU power they have which is really good for decentralization but not for incentives.

Same result, it has to do something with "Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Lock pages in memory" Without largepages it is running, but the hashrate is much less then reported from others for the same hardware.

This is what I have been saying all along. If you think you will profit from investing in 4-5 or even 10 Ryzen 3900x systems in preparation for the XMR RandomX fork, you will be sorely disappointed. Please learn from both the Loki and ArQMA networks....there are a lot of CPU hashpower out there. Your multiple 3900X systems isn't going to make you any profit worth investing on. You have been warned..

I just asked them about this on reddit, this is their response: CUDA has very strict compiler requirements, so you have 2 options: 1. Update CUDA to recent version. 2. Install older compiler like sudo apt install gcc-6 g++-6 and specify compiler on cmake phase cmake .. -DCMAKE_C_COMPILER=gcc-6 -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=g++-6Link to answer: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/dvv637/xmrig_500_stable_release_unified_3_in_1_miner/f7iota4?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

You have been warned.. yes long term maybe you are right but its all about efficiency, a 3900x will do 12k or more of randomx for 130 watt those older cpus will do 3k for 70 to 100 watt so you are talking 4x maybe power use, the 3900x will make momey for at least six months and probably pay for themselves, beyond that who knows but either way its a new cpu so you can probably sell it in a year and be green greeN Everyone talking about hashrate why no one saying about payment for these hashrate? waaaaww 12000H/s.they think it will pay like CN4? I dont care what hashrate they are promising,i do care is what do they pay for. What a meaning of 12k hashrate if it pays for that 1.5$. 3900 costs 700-900$.only cpu ROI 500 days. my 3930k makes 0.25$ it is old cpu and what did you say about 3900 more 4 times efficiency right? ok 0.25x4=1$ for a day. What a joke.

It's time to turn on some servers, is HiveOS a good option to boot these servers and mining RandomX? or does anyone have any better suggestions?
nicehash OS could be a free alternative for you. I'm testing nhos but after loading the OS nothing happens ... do you know if it is currently supporting mining via CPU? Tomorrow I will test hiveOS. Im not using nhOS myself , but im sure they support cpu mining, xmrig 3.1.1 installed so. probably some settings you have to figure out. Take a look and see if you have missed anything: https://www.googleapis.com/download/storage/v1/b/public-prod-data/o/marketing%2Fnhos-guide-en.pdf?generation=1563192105178740&alt=media

Of course i also have gpu rigs , all im doing is upgrading my existing gpu rigs to 3900x rigs to each his own

I am buying ryzen 9 3900x for 500 + 33 = 533 and I get 50 + 30 = 80 in rebates so they cost me 453 I did bios upgrade on my asrock x370 board cost = zero I sold the ryzen 7 1800x for 106 453 - 106 = 347 for upgrade from 1800x to 3900x The pc unit uses 110 watts to mine. that is 2.64 kwatts a day or say 3 kwatts. at 15 cent power I pay 45 cents to run it. so 100 cents - 45 cents = 55 cents a day pure profit. Oh for the next 4-5 months I will save 10 a month so 50 bucks off my heating bill. It is quiet and can mine for years with no issues. PLUS IT IS a solid pc. I have 3 at the moment. I may do 3 more.

Xmr-stak released new version for random x without devfee. Lets do some benchmarking!

- They released it as a separate binary, not regular xmr-stak. - Source code they attached is straight copy from XMRig in RandomX part. - No fee means they don't plan to support it, it's a throwaway release. - Some long and obscure instructions on how to prepare for the fork.
Given the history of Fireice's and Monero "relationship", I wouldn't trust this release. It can be anything inside.

Sorry for a bit off topic. For the same price would it be better to buy (2x Ryzen 5 3600) or a single Ryzen 9 3900x?

well 2 R5 3600 should be around 200 euro less, then ofc mobo ram etc... also you will need a good motherboard for 3900x, decent cpu cooler etc.... from my point of view the 3600 is the winner.

At this time I would agree because AMD now owns the 8+ core consumer market with no price pressure from Intel........yet. When Intel launches a price war with Cascade Lake X AMD may respond by lowering the price of the bigger R7s to keep their price advantage. Then there's the upcoming TR3000 which could also be disruptive. In other news, Tom has a story about the new Intel Ponte Vecchio GPUs to be released in 2020 possibly creating more competition in the GPU market. With all these exciting developments it's too bad mining is in the dumps generally.

Most rigs use Intel CPUs, there won't be 11 KH/s per rig. Even if they all were AMD AM4 boards, have you tried to buy 3900X recently? Mission impossible. But I do think hashrate will go up to 1 GH/s after the fork.

$600 usd cpu to give $1 per day still better than anything a gpu can offer at moment but is not only the $600, you need motherboard $100, memory $40 and ssd $30, $770 just to start it off. ROI 770 days, 2 years, hehehehehehehe if is $1 per day net, i mean without electricity or any other cost. Investing in mining has been the worse investment for the past 2 years and will continue till coin prices multiply in 2020 or 2021 but even though, it might still be, best thing is to protect yourself from stupid decisions and that includes, invest any money in mining whatsoever.

There are many more CPUs running at a current moment rather than GPUs. So if they are all turned on at the same time and pointed towards Monero, the hash will be at a crazy number. It will also be easier to create a miner for it to run in FPGA because of the compatibility with CPU mining. So, that's that. Still, I hope early adopters can crunch some hashes and earn a good number of coins before it hits the fan.

At best you can create emulation of CPU which will be less efficient than regular CPU (of course). A point that is missed by many. Emulating a CPU is a lot more complex than emulating a hashing algorithm. There is always FUD leading up to a big fork, most of it self serving.

FYI we have built a prototype plug in play CPU based home miner. Not sure if we are going to release it yet, but its essentially a CPU system shrunk to the minimum size possible, with custom BIOS and components optimized for Random X and based off 3900.
Operation will be similar to Apollo, it runs off an embedded linux system with browser based GUI.
14KH/s @150 Watts at the wall using our custom PSU, in a quiet stackable 7x7x2.5 inch box.

Thx, been debating this or a 1920x or a 3600 for a htpc that will background hash. So Ryzen lineup is heavily bandwidth dependent? I'm aware that ryzen performance curve peaks at ~3600 ram spd so is that we are seeing with randomx as well?

Amazon has a deal going for $200 for the 1920x. I probably went overboard with the amount of ram. I thought it needed 2 gb per thread... no, its 2gb per numa node. and 1920x is just 1 node. So you could get away with 8gb to 16 gb prolly.

For Ryzen general tips are: - Turn off PBO and auto overclocking. - Manually Overclock CPU (Ryzen Master) and increase core voltage. - Turn on XMP profile on BIOS. - Tune memory using Ryzen Dram Calculator On this video Anthony explains overclocking details very well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w1EGPZUESU&feature=emb_logo

Any Mobo recommendations guys? I've been pretty happy with asrock last few generations, I'll need 3 pci-E 8x slots is there a specific solid stable series you guys recommend. AFA as ram is samsung b-die still the goto option, any specific recommendations on what 32gb kit? Also AM4 Ryzen doesn't like to clock over 2 slots well is the TH series the same? Added: just watched the vid, good info. I like this Anthony guy, he knows what he's talking about. I've had LTT on ignore forever since that whining sniveling Linus doesn't know jack shit (I watched one of his vids on system building where he did everything wrong and thought "jesus i hope the kids don't do what this moron is doing")(also he was such a massive fanboi i couldn't listen to him) and i was getting spammed with his channel. With the decoupling he touched on i was reminded of my 939 socket OC days. btw check out Buildzoid if you haven't already. Added again: Yeah so after watching that vid now youtube has ignored my settings and has recommended that fucktard LTT channel as every goddamn recommended for me. Muthafucker I hate google. Now I'm off to downvote every vid they spammed me with (j/k I hit not interested on them all). Too bad i'll never what one of those anythony vids again (knowingly) because of the LTT spam. Great Vid here on TR V/S R9 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR4ICNbG9EM&lc

You shouldn't use a cheap mobo if you're going to miner 24/7 with your CPU. The VRMs get hot. They need a beefy cooling solution.
If ASUS, go Prime x570 Pro.

I have a wierd behaviour on my Intel 9300H cpu. I limited CPU speed to 3GHz, just to avoid overheating, so it does not matter how many threads are running it always 3GHZ.
This is a 4 core (8 HT) CPU with XMRIG 5.0.1
With 1 CPU Thread: I have about 500hash/s With 2 CPU Thread: I have about 2x 500hash/s = about 1000 With 3 CPU Thread: I have about 3x 500hash/s = about 1500 With 4 CPU thread: I have abour 4x 350 hash /s = about 1400
I guess that as i have 4 core CPU i should be able to reach about 4x 500 hash/sec, however this is not the case.
Any ideas?

Thats not how it works. Your gotta calculate the l1/l2/l3 cache. Scratchpad for rx is 2mb l3. So even though your have 4 cores you cant utilize Them all, or you can but hashrate Will drop as you noticed yourself .

just for the sake of testing and hobby, on my ryzen 3600 1.31v 4.2ghz, although is 100% stable on every program and benchmark to date, it crashes on xmrig with 9,10,11 and 12 threads, 8 threads is stable and so far no crashes, pulling 5200h/s with 8 treads. Pretty good, profitability was higher and now has been crashing, at moment 5200 h/s is doing $1 per day gross and $0.50 net. I will not let it mine for long, not worth the hassle if profit is less than $2 for the cpu, my cpu can generate $10 per day with other things but is nice monero is back strong on the cpu side of things.

if that were possible, there would be no stock on cpus.

Getting 10600 hash using a 2970WX TR. 32gb ram xmrig and just let it run on what it defaulted too. Will see if i can improve over just stock. CPU is on water.

Like i said before 1st 6hours paid good, the 12 hours double decrease rewards, now it is looks like CN4 again )) People who were too exited where are you? 3930k made on CN4 300h/s = 0.10$ Now on RandomX 1750h/s = 0.20$ ))) woooowww profit doubled.... Can someone help me to survive little more, i have problem with this. Benchmark shows 2300h/s but it mines at 1750h/s, MB msi x79 gd45 plus 32gb RAM + 32 GB virtual memory.win10 64bit 2nd problem xmrstak show error at the beginning ALOCMEMORY FAILED. what is this?

Try xmrig.com/wizard to get your initial config.json then just run it and it'll update the config for your CPU and start mining. P.S. Of course it can only achieve this hashrate if you've enabled huge pages in your OS.

Yet, if you plan to do only cpu mining with XMRig and mine something else with your GPU then indeed you will have to let one core/thread to handle both miners, you will have to test to find best balance.

Thx, been debating this or a 1920x or a 3600 for a htpc that will background hash. So Ryzen lineup is heavily bandwidth dependent? I'm aware that ryzen performance curve peaks at ~3600 ram spd so is that we are seeing with randomx as well? my 1920x got around 7kh/s. overall the build was $500-700. Amazon has a deal going for $200 for the 1920x. I probably went overboard with the amount of ram. I thought it needed 2 gb per thread... no, its 2gb per numa node. and 1920x is just 1 node. So you could get away with 8gb to 16 gb prolly. Some help on setup my rig is under preforming big time. i have a threadripper

R5 1600 -t 6, --cpu-affinity 0x555 this for xmrig. you can also try set higher cpu priority . --cpu-priority set process priority (0 idle, 2 normal to 5 highest) Latest version should also give 2-3% better hashrate.

Gen 1 have a smaller cache so fewer threads. I'm always dubious about boosting CPU priority. It shouldn't make a difference, but if it does it indicates a problem with other processses. Better to deal with those processes.

monero hash lingering just below 1GH, currently at 970300044 H/s ... and it all started so well:) imo the best performer out there is 14nm Celeron because it costs nothing to most people. On my gpu rigs (mostly 12GPUs) G3930s is doing about 490H (on loki variant, which is slightly higher than rx0) for 7W off the wall. Note the lower hash on Nvidia rigs, both are 10GPUs And here is my dual 10 core xeons, barely profitable with 290W off the wall each:

Exactly 100W per CPU power draw I don't know what kind of an electricity bill do you have but I pay only 4,3 €urocents for KWH!
and for my dual Xeon 12+12-core delivers steady 10000H/s after Xmrig 5.3 with hyperthreading switched off. It is even able to achieve 11000-12500H/s rates fron time to time..
When I put some serious Multitasking workloads on it at the same time the mining Hashrate drops 1000-2500h/s but that is more memory affected penalty than a CPU-affected drop.. As they can handle any kind of not even a reasonable size but a huge amount of Multitasking workloads with only a few 4-8% CPU utilization when mining is off. I have only 32gb RAM so I'm amazed at how well it can handle all that overload from both utilization at the same time where it obviously should have 64gb to be optimal. Decluding image and video editing tasks..
It isn't even the flagship model Xeons! Running 24/7 2.79Ghz allcore Turbo max 63celsius temperatures..
And you can count on that the xmr will definitely gain value towards usd at least 2-3x from what it is now so I'm very happy with this level of profits
If you need one like that I'm happy to build or provide one for you 1100-3000€ depending on equipments and quaranteed Hashrate minimum is 10000.

Have you tried mining monero with the fastest monero mining platform RagerX which can increase hashrate more than 10% and its referral program is also good? Can you please check and share info about it?
Increasing the displayed hashrate 10% is as simple as adding one line of code. There are other threads discussing that piece of trash.

Dual Mining Random X and ETC mining - one CPU thread is free for GPU mining
It is not necessary to reserve a CPU thread for GPU mining as long as you don't raise the priority of the CPU miner. When dual mining the GPU miner process can run at a slightly higher priority than the CPU minier to reduce scheduling delays. But in my experience I rarely see any impact to GPU mining performance when a CPU miner is also running full throttle. It depends on both the GPU and CPU algos being mined. It's never a good idea to increase the priority of CPU miners. Now to get back on topic, I'm looking forward to seeing some result for the 3990x.

anyone trying underclocks ?
i have a ryzen 9 3900x. set it to freq 3600. volts at 1.0
2 sticks of 8gb ram.
used 21 threads 🧵
using nicehash 2 ... 19
a evga 1660 doing phoinex eth.
rig pulls 217 watts. and earns 1.38 usd on nice hash.
217 watts is 5.1kwatts a day or 51 cents at ten cent power.
so 1.38-0.51= 87 cent daily profit.
i had a ryzen 7 1800x flashed my mobo to run the 3900x
i got the cpu for 430- 100 for the 1800x = 330 cost
roi will be a year. if it makes 87 cents a day

have set it to 1.0625v @ 3800 Mhz. 3600 CL14 ram kits (e-die overclocked). Gets about 13.5 Khs.

I was interested if anyone has tired to underclock I am down to 3600 freq and 0.99 volt clocks 19 to 21 threads very stable and quiet rig. plus I can use it for other things if I want.

Which mining software did you use there? I'm mining monero using xmr-stak-rx hashrate is almost same as Xmrig but the advantage of this miner is it is free, I don't have a 1% fee as Xmrig.

I was interested if anyone has tired to underclock I am down to 3600 freq and 0.99 volt clocks 19 to 21 threads very stable and quiet rig. plus I can use it for other things if I want. I never mentioned power consumption so you can't make a comparison in efficiency. I experimented with 21 threads the power saved at wall is 10w for me while hashrate is 12khs down from 13.5khs. Efficiency no is 13500/198w ~ 68 and 12000/188w ~ 63. Note: I got a Radeon VII at fixed clocks also consuming power. HW-Info nos were roughly around 116w at 3.8-3.9 Ghz clocks and 111w at 3.6 Ghz clocks for 3900X. Also, simply undervolting doesn't translate to power savings. 1.0625v or 0.95v core voltage makes no difference to power consumption at wall. There should be more to it.

so with 20 threads and stock cooler i run at 59 temp.
clock set to 3500 volts to 0.095
two sticks of cheaper 8 gb ram.
savings are no water cooler needed.
unit burns 217 watts at kwatt meter. earns around 1.40 usd.
second unit burns 249 watts at kwatt meter earns around 1.28 usd.
using nicehash 3.05
1660 gpus set to 80% power and volts.
so i burn 466 watts or 11 kwatts a day.
my adjusted winter rates are 10 cents so i pay 1.10 in power a day and earn 2.68
gain 1.58.
stock coolers save 100 x 2 = 200 cheap ram save 100.
so i save 300 in parts maybe more like 330 in parts. my power is 1.10 so that is 300 days of mining saved.
yeah i do 8500 to 9000 hash vs 13000 hash.
i don’t claim this is smarter then pushing the gear hard.
i am asking if anyone else tries this.

And I guess what I am suggesting is that you're not saving much power reducing the threads. you might want to try out with 24 threads. When I experimented with raw undervolt+underclock it didn't save power in actual. Also, I am on stock cooler and micron e-die's are quite cheap. $65-$70 for 16gb kit. That's what I got. It's 414w at wall for the VII hashing at 85 Mhs + 3900X at 13.5 Khs. https://imgur.com/a/OcKi3S0

thats a LOT! Is there any info on hashrate on the same setup on RagerX miner?
Coinluminary and Herry Toms only use their accounts to SHILL, you have done it before on this thread and you do on others particularly today as your post history shows. Yet, I will take your statement and point some facts: - RagerX is closed source with 3.5% fee. And was only created to mine on pool with same name (does not accept any other mining software), so miner/rig owner is not on control of it. - Those who have used it regret it, as they figure out they will never get paid. So they switch to XMRig and point rig to any other pool they choose. https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/ff4bfh/ragerx/- You are breaking forum rules by spamming, and creating posts with no value to discussion. I encourage community to report spammers to moderators. Thanks.

A new section has been added where CPU with 4+ records are listed with all details: #cores, #threads, default tdp, socket type, memory supported, cache size (L1, L2 & L3), lithography, hash per watts, average hashrate, and more. https://monerobenchmarks.info/list.php

If anyone has gotten their hands on a Ryzen 3 3100/3300x feel free to share the hashrate , settings etc...
Im thinking maybe swap a 1600 to the newer 3100..

Anyone have a clue about Ampere vs Big Navi on RandomX?

Both will suck compared to CPUs. Big Navi will suck even more due to lack of native support for RDNA2 in xmrig.

NVIDIA GPUs are efficient enough with straight-forward RandomX VM emulation, they even support directed rounding floating point operations in CUDA, so there's no need to add support for each new GPU. Generic CUDA code will just work. But even 2080 Ti does only 1600-1700 h/s. 3000 series will do a bit more, but still far from enough to compete with CPUs. AMD GPUs, on the other side, require native GCN/RDNA assembler code to run RandomX efficiently.

Finally, now beginners can clearly see that there is no freebie in mining on processors. The payback of the processor is 1500-2000 days, so mining is now useless. It is possible, of course, to mine coins in order to sell them in the future at a better price. But on the other hand, if it is not profitable to mine the coin now, it may be better to invest

Right now it's tight, it's possible to get profits only on free/low electric rate per kWh. Also, efficiency matters being ~100+ Hash per Watts the best performing processors. Alt-season was short-lived too, just lasted around 3-4 months.

Hi everyone, 5 years ago I created monerobenchmarks.info and in the next days I will no longer manage it. When I started, monero was just around $8 price and had different miners like joblo, yam, cpu-miner opt and others for cpu mining. Claymore, Wolf and ccminer were the ones for gpu mining. This spreadsheet was the only one gathering results: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1RqXRS9d9GqLHUrvXXu_0Mxce-0kHSI63fjSgqYpXUU0/edit#gid=0Since there a lot happened: attacks, asics, 4 algo switchs and a couple of bull runs that triggered the price above $400. Yet, monero development has always answered well as the scenario requires it. To keep short and sweet, I thank all the community and everyone who visited and supported the site. Also thanks to all miners for submitting their results, I will no longer run site due to personal reasons but i am going to keep an eye on monero as I really use it. I thank again the community for adding a link on getmonero.org to monerobenchmarks. Happy weekend and happy mining! PS. I am gonna try to make a dump of the data and publish it on a google spreadsheet or similar for everyone to use. Will add link when it is done.
