INSTITUTIONALIZATION
Rakuten Wallet, a subsidiary of Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten has launched spot trading of Bitcoin, Ether and Bitcoin Cash.
According to a shareholder of Tether’s sister company Bitfinex, the firm will be issuing a new stablecoin dubbed “CNHT”. CNHT will be pegged to offshore reserves of Chinese yuan (CNY).

Gemini has hired cybersecurity expert David Damato as its Chief Security Officer (CSO). Damato was previously CSO at Tanium, where he created and led the cybersecurity team to offer security services to government agencies, Fortune 500 firms and various banks.
Former head of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) cyber unit Robert A. Cohen will join law firm Davis Polk and Wardwell LLP as a partner. Davis Polk and Wardwell LLP is a firm known for representing crypto firms such as Coinbase as well as large financial institutions.
