We're not at the 100 age of bitcoins we're still on its 10th birthday and the last bitcoin has not been mined yet. so anything will happen between this time and when the last bitcoin has mine. after that when the price will increase as it will suddenly double the price from its current price then your theory will be possible if there will be no stopping on the price increase.

As I said anything can happen and also there will be a possibility that the price will also fall and bitcoin that time will no longer be needed because there will be another coin that will dethrone bitcoin. as the matter of fact, they say the new coin supported by facebook will be the next generation's bitcoin however as for me, base on my experience that's not gonna happen at all. there's no way bitcoin can be replaced by that thing.

It's so funny seeing people speculate about Bitcoin reaching $1 million prices while they get a boner after seeing a 50% increase in a matter of weeks and sell a large portion of their stack.

If you're so tempted to sell your coins after a pretty insignificant increase, then why dream about such high levels? If you're serious about holding until such prices, first make sure you can keep your coins offline for a whole year without moving them. If you fail there you will not be able to hold even until $100,000 unless it happens before the end of the year, but that's highly unlikely.

2015 low: $152
2017 high: $19,666

That's a 12,838% rise. Apply that to the 2018 low of $3,122 and we're looking at $400K+. That's just one bull market cycle.

Everyone also looks at 2011 and 2013 and assumes the next cycle must be smaller, but I'm keeping an open mind about that. For example, if we apply 2011's gains bottom to top, the next cycle target would be $1.8 million.

I just don't see the demand reach that far because most people in developed countries don't need Bitcoin. People keep holding on to $1 million because they calculate themselves rich already.

Didn't click that link though, I really can't imagine Bitcoin hitting millions though, What will be the landscape then, I guess we really need to talk a look at how Bitcoin good be a medium, a payment system first before we speculate on exorbitant figures here. $30,000 would be a good figure to watch first and then let's see how it goes. Let's just see around 2030 when almost all bitcoin are mine or at least if we have reach around 90%-95%. Because at that time, Bitcoin will be expensive and we don't know if we can adopt global adoption or Bitcoin will simply became just a store of value. I don't think it'll ever approach that in current USD buying power, but it is extremely easy to forget how thinly traded it can be, how few there are per capita and they don't churn out any more if a ton of people arrive in a hurry.

It'll be an impressive figure but not too far off meaningless if there are 50 for sale in the whole world if sellers go on strike.

My guess is 2046 with plenty of inflation behind it.

Hal Finney would have considered the 1M$ per BTC somewhat cheap. In fact, one week after the Genesis block, he "speculated" with 10 M$ being a viable figure based on a 20M BTC total supply (speculation as to why he left out 1 M BTCs in his calculus is open). The exercise was likely not a real expectation, but rather more a means to incentivise people to download bitcoin 0.1. Speculation was quick to makes its first appearance, although no timeframe was given.

If bitcoin can get to that stage where it will be adopted as the global currency of the world when the world agrees to it, then there is absolutely no doubt that the remaining coin will be mined on time, and then make bitcoin scarce for it to hit up to that $1 million dollars, but without recognizing it as global currency and creating a rush for the coin, I think the highest that I feel bitcoin can go is $100,000 which to is much more realistic.

I am not sure that government is ready for any regulation right now that will create a high adoption to cause the surge in price, so we just have to be dealing with the system as we are doing now and allow it to just continue to grow on its own with the little compliance we are naturally getting on a daily basis.

We will have to wait for Tim Draper's prediction that Bitcoin will reach $250,000 by early 2023. At first, this will seem too far away but that's how markets feel. Before you know it, it's 2022 and Bitcoin is around $100,000 plus.

Lol that's the irony .. first of all you need a full commitment to hold your bitcoin and lock them up on a vault that can never be opened until certain date , with this condition you might have higher chance to see another bitcoin ATH and even that 1 million usd price per each bitcoin (which noone know when) while you are holding a couple of them then ready to sell it.

It's something possible considering we've through the days when bitcoin price were only $10 each and people talking about a $10,000 per one bitcoin is like a daydream, an illusion and no way would hit it, few years later ... Every time some speculation thread like this comes up with a question of when bitcoin is going to hit some astronomical price, I always think back to when bitcoin was treading water in the $350-$400 range.  I haven’t checked a chart before posting this, but I think it was in 2015-16. 
People were asking when it was going to hit $10k, and at that time I thought I’d never see that price in my lifetime—and bitcoin actually hit double that in 2017.

So $1 million?  I’d hate to say we’re not going to see that for many years, but now I think it’s not only possible, but may happen sooner than I could have imagined.

My idea was that there is about 2% inflation in USA almost every year, it is 1.5 sometimes, it is 1.8 this year, it basically changes a bit but every year its around 1 or 2, we be optimistic and pick 2% lets say, that means even if the price worth around 50-60 thousand dollars right now to reach 1 trillion marketcap for bitcoin, that still means around 20 years to reach 1 million dollars at least, and that is AT LEAST and a very optimistic approach. That is simple finance for you, no details no tricks or tips, just simple financial calculation shows we have at least 20 years for each bitcoin to worth 1 million dollars.

You sound just like I did in 2015. I lost a lot of BTC being bearish in the early stages of that bull market. Anything is possible but betting the trend (2011, 2013, 2017) is a lot safer than assuming "this time will be different." It usually isn't.

Bitcoin isn't always going to be a hot low priced asset class. I consider its long term up side to realistically be $50-$100k, but after that the risk of buying it doesn't outweigh the risk of seeing it go back to current levels or even lower.

You and everybody else on this forum, apparently. Everybody thinking $100K is the maximum upside (if they can imagine it at all!) makes me confident we're going much, much higher.

Most people don't need gold or stocks either. So what? They want to park their money in something that isn't cash. I also don't think small retail investors will be the predominant driver of Bitcoin price in the coming decades.

Well there are many factors that affect so that it can happen, it is possible that it reaches 1M, and it may happen quickly, now we are with the approval of BAKKT for this September 23, if they execute the approval of the ETFs, we will have new protagonists in the market that will surely bring new ATHs to Bitcoin prices. I get what you want to say and that is that the value of bitcoin will increase in purchasing power, and the dollar could become useless. Thus making bitcoin the main store of value and directly usable. Converting is useless.

Following for five years means since 2014, so you've at least already seen it go to 1k and then down, then the multi-year winter before a resurgence and new ATH.

I've given up on estimating what is rational anymore when it comes to numbers, but I am certain that we can't simply use percentage gains any more after a certain level, and I feel like we're at that level or close to it. For example, where we are today at $10k compared to $1k isn't quite the same as assuming we're going to hit $100k (though it's the same 900% increase). Just too little holding it up to sustain that price.

Seeing that Bitcoin is more a game of highs and lows under the influence of high institutional margin traders, I think they will keep BTC at a stable rate more than fluctuate it. If bitcoin goes up to one million dollars because dollar lost that much value that means there must be some global crisis that is so huge almost all countries in the world would get affected by it, it would make bitcoin go up but also price of every single thing will go up too, you may keep some of your purchasing power at hand thanks to bitcoin but the world would be screwed.

However, if you think bitcoin will go up without dollar losing much value than its as impossible as the first one since bitcoin can't gain 100x increase that quickly.

That will make many people become the wealthiest person in their city, and they will have a lot of money from bitcoin. I am sure that many people will be happy and they will celebrate and spend their money to buy anything they want. In that time, I am sure that many people in out there will come to bitcoin because they think they will join with the euphoria and of course, they want to make money too. But that will be too naive if people from out there just come to bitcoin and buy bitcoin and then sell the bitcoin because they thought that they can make a lot of money at that time. They will only make money from what they buy and sell because they don't hold bitcoin from a long time ago.

Considering there will be a lot of people selling their coins on the way to a million it won't be that easily done. I mean we are talking about billions of dollars pouring into bitcoin constantly and all the time, its already very difficult to bring billions into market just once to make a big push upside, think about the increase we had from 3k to 13k and now think that we need that all day everyday for a very very long time just to reach those levels. We failed to do it twice right now, how the hell are we suppose to do it all the time?

I think until bitcoin because insanely popular there won't be any way we can actually reach those levels or even try to reach it. We should focus on breaking the all time high first, that is a better priority than thinking about a million dollars.

Exactly, it's just that we need time for that, friend. sometimes, to teach someone about this development takes years, especially if you invite so many people.

Time does matter because the halvings drive up the price because more work must be done to get bitcoins.

I don't think it will happen, but bitcoin price is often to suprising me several times. Regualtions factor ware made bitcoin price decreased after we can saw it when the all time high for bitcoin price was reached. Logically bitcoin price can touch the new high price if there is no negative information that came from government at that time because the hype thing was spreaded up until there is many speculation that bitcoin price will have a high price at 2018. But now, seemingly the government have another perspective to make a regulation for bitcoin and most of them are likely accept it to be use with some supervision from them. And I think the bitcoin price will up if the newcomer comes and have a convince that bitcoin is the safe place to store their money but I doubt if its price will hit 1 million.

You need to understand Op, how the price affects.
Generally the price of something becomes high when the demand is more and supply less.
Same happens with Bitcoin also.
So it will reach 1 million usd gradually in the near future.
And we cannot always rely on predictions.

Everything can be achieved within that 10 years. 1 million may look like a high price but with cryptocurrency anything can happen.

Sounds a good estimate based on supply, I was about to base my answer on demand or rather the value of dollar.   The idea of 1 million also includes great movement in Dollar value as it adjusts to no longer being the global reserve currency.  That is a normal phase change thats happened many times previously with the Spanish and British all the way back to the Romans which also reduced the quality of their currency over many decades and centuries, all rising and falling in influence.
   So I would look toward Dollar index or DXY which I would expect to be making new lows.   Right now thats not true at all, the world has swung round to hold many dollars a bit like how people note Bitcoin dominance.  Its kept as reserve assets so that Dollar has a standing in many countries, in many central banks as the asset that backs each national currency.   For example Japan a great exporter and advanced nation is holding $1 trillion in dollar treasury debt and that sounds alot but the trade done each year is greater.   For me to think 1m BTC is possible then I would have to see these various holdings of dollar no longer exist and much more distribution of value for global currency varied across many different assets types.
  BTC will likely rise in better prospect when Bretton Woods is more in question.  This agreement extends past my lifetime, it is the ground I stand on in terms of how much influence it has that I've always taken for granted, when the world changes that much then any price is possible.

I'm gonna use block rewards as a measure. If the current price $8,000 is the average of the all-time high price of $20,000 and the climb from $2,000 and miner's costs are around $6,000 - $7,000.

What happens when the block reward is reduced to 1btc? Today it is 12.5 btc which is around $100,000. Then 1 btc could be $100,000 someday. I think the $1m per btc is possible when governments are also hoarding bitcoin.

Due to measuring the price in Dollars and a possibility of great instability in dollar value and deleveraging of debt sustaining current dollar pricing that in turn makes inflation in many prices far more probable then any of us would rate them.    How many people are speculating on the price of bread or a jug of milk in ten years, nobody really and we all need those commodities and will be buyers for sure.   BTC has the double complication of having growth and a changing product within itself but 1 million as a price is certainly more possible then we would expect.

well, you just make some theory based only from CMC historical data,and you make conclusions based on the development of BTC data from year to year.
it's not enough I guess to make perfect predictions ,there are many things that can affect the price of btc, and what is in CMC is the result of all these things,so you make it as if all of those things have not changed.
