Hey buddy,

Welcome to the blockchain world.
There are lots of courses: Available courses on Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology from colleges and Universities. In fact, you can find out more online courses, free or paid, from coursera.org or edx.org.

Starting from these ones is good, too.

If you find new cources, which have not yet listed in my thread, you can let know by leaving a post with links to courses you found, I will take a look at them and add them in OP.

Yes. There are universities that teach blockchain development. Probably not that much currently, but I'd assume the demand is inceasing. I think your best bet is to ask around the universities on your local area before looking for other universities just so you don't need to unnecessarily switch cities/countries.

Anyway: https://www.accounting-degree.org/college-cryptocurrency-blockchain-courses/

TRANSPARENCY: I'm the creator of the following course

I have a really low cost course (just $3) on getting started - without the technical jargon.
Feel free to check it out

https://madhavan.nity.app/bitcoin-course-2dc/bitcoin-course---season-1-f6a

It's for absolute beginners who know nothing about crypto or computer science.

I would look into some of the bigger universities and see what they are offering. Most have free online courses even in person courses and workshops. MIT, Berkeley, Stanford and more

Sorry to interrupt.

In case you are still newbie to the blockchain and crypto world, why don't you have a look to any eBooks for the initial understanding process.

One of them are "Crypto for Newbie" .
Checkout here for details https://maishince.academy/ebookcrypto/

Many others eBooks in crypto/blockchain as well in Amazon or Payhip.

Blockchain is such a small, niche and experimental technology that the only way to learn it is to read open source code, public discussions and mailing lists. There's no university that offers bachelor's degree in blockchain, the closest thing you can get is a degree in applied cryptography. Speaking about cryptography, it's absolutely fundamental for blockchain, so said degree is the best thing you can get if you are serious about becoming a blockchain dev. Plus, in worse case scenario where blockchain proves to be a vaporware and disappears, you'd still have a useful degree that can lend some very good jobs.

i don't think a "blockchain" degree is a good idea anyways. blockchain isn't really a new technology, it is the combination of what already existed. i think we can categorize it into 3 categories, the blockchain (aka database) the cryptography and the P2P communication network. that's all there is to it really and each knowledge could be gained separately.

I still think the best way is to get involved with Bitcoin developers in Github or join their Slack group. You could also join their mailing list. All is open sourced anyway. Those university courses will just suck money out of you. No one is really an authority on blockchains yet.

Now, if you have zero programming knowledge - that's a different story.

Besides what I gave in previous post, I would like to give your an article from Coinbase, The 2019 Leaders in Crypto Education
You should visit that blogpage and read full article, I only quoted some important points here.
In general, it shows the increasing trend in blockchain education from top universities as well as fastly increases in demands of learning from students, whom even have their self-run blockchain clubs. The United States accounts for more than half of 20 schools on Coinbase's leaders of crypto education (see image below)

Key Findings

  • 56 percent of the world’s top 50 universities now offer at least one course on crypto or blockchain — up from 42 percent in 2018
  • Twice as many students report having taken a crypto or blockchain course than they did in 2018
  • Nearly 70 percent of crypto and blockchain classes are in departments outside of computer science, including law, the humanities, and economics
  • Original Coinbase research includes a Qriously survey of 735 U.S. students age 16 and older, a comprehensive review of courses at 50 international universities, analysis of research citations and non-coursework offerings, and interviews with professors and students.
  • Cornell University tops the Coinbase 2019 Leaders in Crypto Education list

I believe that my thread, Available courses on Bitcoin and Blockchain Technology from colleges and Universities, is enough for a beginner in blockchain, but as you see in above article, blockchain education has grown fastly so my thread my be outdate (due to my lack of time to check those new-born courses). I appreciated @boyptc for that post, because it helps people whom have still not known how to search for blockchain courses to do it themselves. Visit those two sites, and use keyword: Blockchain, then enter Search button. It's easy to find online courses. I will edit my thread with that step.

Creating and ERC-20 Token doesn’t seem too difficult at all. The forum has a couple of threads on how to do it over the ETH Network (see for example BEGINNER FRIENDLY GUIDE] Launch your own TOKEN in a few simple steps!.)

Since you’d be using an existing infrastructure, it seems pretty effortless, which is unfortunately likely a support reason why so many jumped-in and created their own token to support a pointless ICO at some point.

I think searching on google and discussions on blockchain technology groups will help you. Read the blockchain literature and join your local discussion group. I believe a lot of people will help you with those questions. But stay away from online learning programs with your own money, which can be a trick. Good luck!

I don't see what a university can teach that you can't teach yourself. It's all out there waiting to be discovered. The best minds will be at work in cryptoland, not employed by a university.

If I had my heart set on university I'd be inclined towards more general areas where you are likely to find established and competent people like computer science.

There are so many books on the website about blockchain but only you can learn about this once you have started using it. Blockchain is a technology that distributes computing and cryptography. If you want to learn this technology then read the BTC whitepaper and you will get to know why it is different from normal algorithms. so that you will get some fundamental knowledge and find out the way how to implement it in the real scenario. Make sure you are comfortable with basic cryptography algorithms and internet protocol.

I don't know what your mother langue is, but my suggestion is that you learn blockchain in whatever your mother tongue is. Because blockchain has a very complicated structure, and if your English is not good enough, you may have difficulty understanding it.

For now, there are thousands of articles written about blockchain in almost every language around the world. But if you want to learn English, I suggest cointelegraph and CoinDesk, meanwhile Binance also has its own academy, and here you can both read articles and learn more about blockchain by watching videos.
