There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I am very interested in Bitfork, as I am a noob when it comes to mining. but I have very little understanding as to what the concept behind this is. Can someone please explain? I am really interested in this and would like to find out more.

Also, I dont know if my computer is to powerful. It is a good gaming pc, but i suppose that meets the "Standard desktop" requirement

Edit: it is NVidea. I only get 50 kh/s when mining scrypt coins

It kind of takes me back to early 2010, where I couldn't figure out BTC cpu mining and didn't have a graphics card... Although I did get 2btc from a faucet... then the hard drive crashed and got a total formatting "because a few cents isn't worth it" Undecided. I'd just like to have a go at something like this for teh lulz, the hope and the memories. And now I've got a graphics card, finally.

I spec'd out a bitcoin mining rig in 2010 but really couldn't afford it at the time, and I thought that since solo mining was already infeasible that I'd already missed the boat. Little did I know...

This is exactly the coin I've been looking for.  Finally my Dell Inspiron 5100 from 2002 can participate in the cryptocurrency revolution.  But only if you let me in early!
