I'm thinking of investing $1k into BTC as its low risk but I would like to risk the the other $500 with a coin that I can make quick money with it

Difficult to prompt in a bear altcoin market. Since it is difficult to guess what price will be in the future. Investing in bitcoin is really a good idea, but the money in it will hang for many years, since the price is not known when it will rise higher. As far as altcoins are swinging, you can earn them on condition of a good course, but also lose your money if the altcoin rate you choose will fall.
Try to split the investment:
Stellar - 100-150$
TRON - 50-100$
Ethereum Classic - 200$
EOS - 200$
Waves - 100-150$
Neo - 100$
Monero - 200$
Leave the rest in bitcoin

for energy tokens in my opinion don't because it's a bit risky for now and also 1-2 year tokens that have experienced price declines are also at risk because some that I get a lot that will soon exit scam, my advice for @fady if you want to invest with capital above $ 1K why not try luck in IEO?, choose a good launchpad for example binance, houbi, kucoin (use a short investment).

There is nothing like quick money now because investing into cryptocurrency is risky and the probability that your investments is going to appreciate in pricing might not be there. It is better to buy bitcoin or ethereum and earn some profits as there grow time to time as majority of the altcoins are in bad conditions now.

I would rather pick low risk strategy and pick the only strongest coins for medium to longer term as short term is just too risky so if i was in your place i would have simply added to my btc and eth positions with this extra bit of cash as i think it is still good time to accumulate both these giants and there massive run is possibly few months away from now.

You should confirm,you want to inverse for a short period or for longer period.If you are looking for shorter period,kindly choose the bitcoin.Less risky one.If you are investing for the long term,you can split your money to two half and inverse 50% on bitcoin and 50% on Ethereum.

There are many good projects which is under value now.
You can go around the community to check many of them.
Ethereum is one good investment also as they are very low in price.

Cheap alts yet on the top place because if you do buy shitcoins, the risk will be more high. I recommend to study each and every coin listed on CMC, plan ahead and make investment that you think you can handle the risk. I usually make my own research before joining the project its being a safe investor and putting money on less risk coins.

Sorry for your loss but i will advice u be concious and careful with your investment option. Stay clear of most top coins in the space because the crypto market is currently fresh coins introduced into the market must expecially via IEOs. A majority of the notable blockchain projects are stuck,clueless and failing on their roadmap hence investors are disinterested. Follow binance IEO project for short term profit and stay clear of other altcoins

Firstly, you made a very good decision to invest 1k$ in BTC. For the remaining 500$, I will suggest you look at XLM, XRP, EOS, ICX, LINK. Do your due diligence on these coins and decide on which to invest or better still try to key in IEO on some reputable exchanges like Binance, Huobi, OKEX, kucoin, trade.io with proven success in IEOs for good profit.

You correctly decided to invest 1 thousand dollars in Bitcoin.
You can divide the remaining money into 10 parts for 50 dollars each and invest them in coins from the list of top 30 at the maximum capitalization. Look at the charts for how long in time they experienced the pumps and if for a long time, then boldly invest in them.

Do not mislead people, this coin can simply disappear, do not rush to all the coins, the market in 2017 fell very much and not the fact that all the coins will grow, I think you still have to wait for the market to unfold and then buy.

Advising OP to buy cheap altcoins can be suicidal to him because most of these coins or tokens may not be able to see the light.of the day. Although there are some good altcoins to invest and spenting them out matters for.any investor, in my own case I will advise that; you invest $1k purely on Bitcoin and the remains on good and prospective coin or tokens.
