I used to prefer LBC because it was bigger and better but after enforcing more strict KYC policies. I abandoned them too. I now used bisq.network for my peer to peer trades. I have seen a couple of people complaining about Paxful "scamming" them so you might wanna be careful before using them in case you plan to.

Both are the same now, that is, both have scammers, both require KYC, both ban nationals from entire countries.

List of alternatives to localbitcoins (yes, most aren't very active):

And also these alternatives of LBC got insane price tag for bitcoin which is 10% higher than the actual market value so if someone wanted to buy bitcoin with decent amount would choose LBC for better and cheaper price or the exchanges where we can make bank deposits.

That's because most of them have very few users at the moment, the upside is usually no KYC, but if you're accepting bank transfers from strangers better be sure the other party isn't using someone else's stolen bank account, on LBC that should be more difficult.

Paxful hasn't asked me to do KYC, but I've only traded small amounts.

prepare yourself. it only takes $1500 in total trade volume or wallet activity to trigger mandatory KYC on paxful. the limit is even lower on localbitcoins (€1000/year).

avoid both of them and use localcryptos instead. the reasons why are simple:

1. No KYC required to use the platform.
2. Non-custodial. You have control over your funds (you can export the private keys).
3. Better UI/UX.
4. Support in-person (cash) transactions (unlike LBC).

On LBC we can find the real name of trader once we initiate the trade if they registered and if payment was done from different account then don't release the bitcoin and start dispute the trade mentioning your issue. But this is possibly only if you mentioned these terms while creating that advertisement.

Localcryptos don't ask for KYC so it will become scam fest if bank account hackers find this.

If I were buying now I wouldn't bother with either. I got rolling in 2013. In the UK there weren't any exchanges so LBC and other P2P options were the only games in town. Now most places will have a reasonably reputable exchange to hand.

I'd be much happier dealing with Coinbase vs some random asshole operating on a platform with KYC and limited competence.

LBC is still a scam fest despite KYC, KYC-verified accounts to scam get traded all the time. Best just trade in-person and LBC has made that impossible by banning this type of trades altogether.

That is why we have to check the feedback history of verified accounts as well before making an offer,by following this step we can greatly reduce the chance of trading with a traded account.
