I highly suspect that ATM cash out features will not return. I've been in the IT world for over 26 years and we've done "conversions" on millions and millions of accounts in one night. All Bitpay is doing is just trying to keep their name out there as long as it can. And living in the US it is almost impossible to turn some BTC into cash. The only reason they probably haven't conceded that instant cash out features will no longer be part of their model is they still are making money on selling a cheap piece of plastic that cost them pennies. Was good while it lasted...at least ACH still works, but that also will eventually die die out as well. There's not much leftout there for me to use being a US resident to change BTC to

Well, ACH is now failing. So if you have any funds in your bitcoin VISA card as cash have fun trying to get it out. I did do a couple ACH transfers and they worked, but after that one failed and turned their account status to INACTIVE in on my online banking which makes it impossible to use. I contacted my bank and they just told me bitpay suspended the account with no reason in the notes. I called Bitpay and talking to them is like speaking to a child. They came right out and said your card is fine, there are no blocks on it but the funny part was I never gave them my card number and was calling from my work number which they do not have. So I guess the bank Bitpay uses METROPOLITAN COMMERCIAL BANK just lies to their customers.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

I used it yesterday with no issues. Had not used it for a long time and was actually worried that it was going to be shutdown for inactivity, but I got my coffee. Grin

I wonder if it's just the bank trying to get out of the prepaid market?

I guess I just liked the card because of the no haggle prices, didn't have to worry about taking a ten to twenty percent cut by going Paxful of Local Bit Coins route.

I really hope they find a new partner bank, but 2 months later it's looking doubtful.

How's that upgrade going Bitpay?

*crickets chirping*

This reeks of KYC/AML/IRS. The system upgrade could be fraud detection systems such as Early Warning, which deeply link into every existing bank already. This could be the "upgrade" portion they are talking about. But yeah...

Another poster said it succinctly:   "it was good while it lasted"

So, this came in my email about 20 minutes ago.

Quote
Hi BitPay Card users,

Every now and then we'll reach out to you to let you know about big things happening with your BitPay Prepaid Visa® account.

We are excited to announce that starting September 5th, ATM withdrawals will be re-enabled for your account. You can learn more about the fees and limits for the BitPay Card [here](https://bitpay.com/card/resources/Fees.pdf).

We value and appreciate your continued use of the Card. If you have any questions about this notification, please contact us at https://bitpay.com/request-help or call the cardholder services team at (855) 884-7568.

Guess they worked out whatever had to be worked out.
I don't have a lot of cash on the card at the moment, so I'm not going to waste it checking to see if it works, but if someone else out there wants to, please report if it works or not.

Thanks,
Dave

I can now verify that it works.
I added some coin, and went to my local ATM that does not charge a fee and took out $20.

So, at least for the US people it's good. If you want me to check other countries send me enough BTC for a flight and I'll check it for you  Grin Grin Grin
